for as long as ive been around here, the holy grail of crypto mass adoption was an EVM chain that could scale. But that was the catch; EVM chains couldnt scale. Theyve never been able to. So Avax turned to subnets, you got L2’s, etc etc etc.
In the meantime, Fantom was rekt by multichain, a 3rd party bridge which has since been replaced by LayerZero and Axelar, and gave us a sub 1B marketcap entry on a chain that is positioned to slay the adoption white whale.
Fanton's new upgrade, Sonic, is capable of handling 4k TPS a second, with an avg gas difficulty of 100k per txn. In other words, real traffic.
As an EVM compatible L1.
That's 343M txns daily, at 1 second TTF. (Finality is achieved faster than Metamask refreshes its UI)

For anyone who hasnt been in crypto too long.. that is mass adoption. This is groundbreaking innovation. This is the shit that dreams and 1 trillion $ marketcaps are made of.
For the first time ever, an L1 can scale the ethereum VM, and this upgrade goes to mainnet in Spring of 2024.

Its really not, its lagging behind Avalanche.
Fantom is just 1 chain but Avalanche is thousands of custom VM Subnets. Each which can do more tps than fantom and can do it faster. 1 second TTF for Fantom and Avalanche is already at 230ms.
