From the very start I realized that you can do very little without money. My parents would be very strict with me, and give me an allowance, but taught me the importance of money because they would never ever buy anything for me randomly. Anything I wanted I would have to pay for myself, which means I would have to either save up long term for a big purchase, or not save and go without whenever I really wanted something. It ended up with me just eventually not spending money on anything, and saving it all and living very frugally. I am miserable.
