Anyway frens I just got my ancient Bronze Age Babylonian clay cuneiform tablet in the mail, it's nicer than I expected. The Persian silver Sigloi nugget coins are almost 1,500 years younger but about as close as I can get to relevant PMs. Luv me ancient rocks, they add some interesting spice to life.

They are, mostly, but it's not clear cut because not all vaulted silver is sellable and there are other sources to get physical, like PSLV. There's also LBMA from which metals can be moved. Overall, there's enough information to make a reasonable guess.

>It's in the process of happening, nigger.
It's been in the process of happening since at least 60 years ago. I remember my uncles saying it would happen in the 80's.

If you predict something's going to happen, and it doesn't happen, you don't just kick your prediction down the road. Not if you want to make money anyways. You should figure out why it didn't happen the last few thousand times someone said it would, and go from there.

It's not happening because miners deposit a significant fraction of industrial silver in the exchanges so they can short their own product with leverage as a hedge against falling prices. Then their buyers also put a similar amount in so they can long it in case of rising prices.

as long as people are mining and selling silver, the comex will never empty. It might get more inventory or less, but it has a constant supply. It's tapped directly into industrial production. And that's not going to stop no matter how much gets bought. They will never run out. They're also a useless benchmark for how much exists or is available to buy.

Oldfags. Why did gold basically do a sustained 6-7x from like 2000-2011 without much manipulation back down? Was buying power really that strong for that long of period of time? Who was buying? What was the general sentiment of buyers during this time? What happened in 2011 that brought it to a halt? I was way too young to know anything about this sadly.
Was gold severally undervalued in the up until that point? I feel like that was really the only time that you could have "profited" off gold, as inflation was not 6-700% during that time.

>inflation was not 6-700% during that time.
depends on the sector. As I remember it, I saw gas go from below $2 to over $4 in a single year.
I watched houses sell for $50k and then sell again for $300k a couple years later.

2007-8 was characterized by huge inflation in the real world, followed by deflation during the market crash of 08-09, and then a shitload more inflation when things recovered in 11-12.

we certainly made money selling gold during that time period, but we made far more money buying houses... and cars... and vacations... and capital equipment... and stocks... and everything else after the crash of o8

>> No.56868961

shills will say silver is a scam because gold has low premiums and silver has higher premiums and just this thread i think someone said they were using silver premium $ to buy gold to rip off the silver buyer.
but it could be the case that the high premium on silver discourages purchase and the increasing price of gold makes it a more desireable asset for the investor. silver being kept relatively low allows them to sell their gold. and buy silver at the artificially low spot price. as gold holders, the price of gold increases and allows thel to buy more silver, ofcourse at spot, its inconsequential to them what the premium is.

>> No.56868982

we know that silver is a commodity that has many uses. it might be the right type of thing to hold for them as sovereign countries in the future, escaping the gold standard to a more use based silver standard which has more practical real world value than gold does

In the US about half of a rich person's cash income goes to taxes.

if you can find a way to avoid paying all those taxes you get even more rich. Buying gold and silver at a tax loss is one way to do that. Lots of people buy metals BECAUSE of the high premiums, not in spite of them. They're not trying to make money, they're trying to lower their taxes.

poor people will never understand this. Most of what truly rich people do is an attempt to legally lose money in a manner that reduces their taxes.

but at some point in the near future gold will go over $2k and never go back down again. Silver will begin hitting $30 and bounce around a lot because it's silver, but continue creeping upwards as time goes on. I wouldn't be surprised to see highs around $40 or maybe more late next year.

Kek, iktf fren, got my town rangebanned for a year+ for "violation of the US federal laws" after i posted an interesting find i did about a certain ghost company who for first and last contract installed "optic fiber" on each floor of the twin towers 2 months before bigbadaboom. Almost entirely financed by Apollo Global Management, and if you know a bit about Apollo, you know you can't get any closer to the (((deep state))).

It must have pissed off the FBI to a great extent apparently, because on top of my rangeban, cops showed up to my door not long after for a bullshit reason, with thinly veiled threats about me losing my internet access. Got me pretty paranoid as i was still knee deep in the 911 truth movement (who was already vastly decayed from glowies-shitposting back then).

To this day i can't repost the OG file here, they banned the tag for it, i'm forced to recrop and rename it kek. Yet another evidence sensitive stuff was already closely monitored back then.

The fiat ponzi scheme is finally collapsing like a house of cards. As the inevitable conclusion unfolds and the US is dethroned as the world super power, done in by its own greed, people will seek refuge in sound money - gold and silver. However, their fiat will be worthless and sadly for many it will be too late for them. China is rising in the east, while war is spreading in the west and middle east. BRICS+ will soon unveil a currency based on a basket of commodities that nations will flock to for safe haven. History is filled with lessons of late-stage empires grasping for control while in their death throws. The fall of Rome comes to mind. It will be bloody. It will get ugly.

It's some work to undust all my folders about it and get back the pieces together, i've also to gather screencaps from the waybackmachine, archives from the NYC Port Authority, etc.. i'm quite the digging type of autisto, so it will be a long read.

>There is something magical to this tablet, it looks like some powerful hex is about to get liberated if you dare to read it out loud.
It's funny, but I was just explaining to my dad my mindset when I first saw the tablet. My intuition and instincts really got activated and I was overwhelmed with the desire to get muy hands on it even though I mostly collect ancient tools and weapons, not clay pottery etc. I bid something like $515 but thankfully won it much cheaper. I've figured out that the tablet was sold through Maggs Bros' catalogue #672 of about 100 different ancient/medieval antiquities (pic related) and it now appears that the #1 on the receipt means it could be an important artifact, there'd be no reason to place the tablet so it would be the very first item anyone would see if it wasn't significant in some way. Maybe it has Hammurabi's name written on it, or maybe it describes an unusually interesting subject matter?

>Weren't those the OG coins? It must have costed you a pretty penny! (assuming it's you, it probably costed you 2 already-chewed bubblegums, but for the sake of my mental state, pls say it costed you $300 a pop). They are gorgeous, you can immediately tell it's high purity silver. How much do they weight? Approx like a drachma?

Albeit early, the Achaemenid Persian silver "Siglos" was far from the earliest coin ever struck. They often weigh around 5.1g IIRC and were mass-produced to pay their armies so the most I ever paid for one was about $35 lol, some cost less than $10, they are great low-budget collectors' coins. BTW I won a nice Corinthian/Akarnanian Pegasus stater this evening, will post pics shortly.

Holy fuck, that would be so nice. Imagine if it's a portion of the Hammurabi's code. That would be an invaluable artifact. Maggbros, we are SO back!

There is no other way, we must find out what's going on there. Do you have any idea how we could get started?
I know a fren irl who work at the medieval history department of the university of Poitiers, and she most likely have colleagues who work in the mesopotamia/babylonian branch. It could maybe help if we don't find any other way, just land me with few HD pics of the tablet and i'll give it to her.

> the Achaemenid Persian silver "Siglos" was far from the earliest coin ever struck.
oh ok, since it was in the ''cradle of civilization'' i thought they would be the first, but it was already late-stage babylonian civ it seems. But were the first coins from Mesopotamia, or somewhere else? Maybe China?

Then scrapbro's coins aren't far off, apparently siglos started to get minted around 520 BCE. Funny how they all adopted metal coinage so rapidly once it started to get used. What a fantastic invention, probably the most important one when it comes to create and optimize larger societal structures. Logistically speaking and in term of human resources' management, such standardization system for transactional operations is a giant leap forward. Can you imagine trying to build a big project if you have to barter and haggle with each of your 600 workers at the end of each day/week? Now you drop a coin and it's done in 5sec. Yeah man that tablet very well could be something unusually special, probably why my cheapie-senses were really tingling. I emailed Maggs Bros which is still in business as an antiquarian book and manuscript dealer asking them to check their catalogue #672 for the information about the tablet which would have been the more detailed description. If they don't respond or if the information they provide is really good I think I found a physical copy of the catalogue for $30 which I'll buy and keep as part of the provenance, I'd be able to get that $30 back no problem if I sold it with the tablet.

Regarding the earliest coinage, the general concensus is that King Alyattes and then his son Croesus of Lydia minted the first standardized coins. More generally speaking, back in the Copper then the Bronze Age many cast but non-finished tools were used as a sort of tool-money or currency, but those don't really count. The Sigloi coins are very much like little silver nuggets, made from irregular lumps that remained very thick after striking. They are really common coins found all over modern Turkey so yeah you can get cheapies whenever you want, they are cool coins to hold.

Based and redpilled, I'm very happy to hear that Gixen has already paid for itself! I definitely know what slurping every day can do to one's budget but you are getting geared-up to do it as a small business so just be sure to push yourself to list or sell a few extra things so you'll always have the cash to take advantage of new deals. Here's that 8g Pegasus stater I won, very poor title and description so it stayed a "sleeper" and I won it for $76.99 total. Not peanuts, but it's an easy $250 if I sell it:

You've got some time. The thing makes up 59% of foreign currency reserves, it's not going to crash next week or something.
It's also not going to make a sudden recovery either, so what seems like high prices now might actually be very low in the future.

If it helps any I always did that and still managed to buy a house. It helped me save a down payment, otherwise I would've blown the cash on hookers and blow. Or lobsters and whiskey.

I probably ate a small loss cashing out to buy the house, but it took years of stacking to get the down, and the stuff I bought early I certainly made money on.

this is not financial advice. Just what worked for me. I don't like saving, that's boring. I love stacking/collecting though. Then you get to see and touch your money while it builds.

I know people here never sell, but I sold and then was able to stack again with leverage once I had the house.

get a damn good safe, and secure it to your building so it'll take hours to find/remove. Cameras would be a good idea too, inside and out.

It's also one of the biggest myths that ruined the silver squeeze. People get frustrated trying to do something and people telling them they're doing something and then it turns out they're not doing that thing.

the comex is a distraction. It absolutely doesn't matter. The Hunts left almost all of their silver in comex vaults and still ended up owning most of the silver in the world.

There were just as many arguments against the idea that draining the registered stock wouldn't result in some eligible being shifted into registered. As someone who isn't silver cultist, even I know the motive behind the draining of registered, in that there's no guarantee that the owners of eligible were going to move their stock into registered. Alas that hasn't been the case because when registered dipped into the 20 million ounces, a fuck ton of silver from eligible would be put into registered to get its numbers back up again. People focus on registered because of all the fake silver derivatives suppressing the spot price. If there's no registered silver in the Comex, then the paper silver derivative scam is exposed because the silver doesn't exist in registered. Now shut your trap.

so no matter how much you take out of registered, the people actually making the stuff are just going to put it back in. That's the original purpose of the whole machine. To protect producers from market volatility by giving them a means to short their own products.

What made you think COMEX was going to shit the bed in the 90s? I'm basing it on their own numbers. The trend is clear. The vaults are dropping hard and have been doing that since 2021. So far it doesn't look like anything is going to change. How can this not end in disaster? At some point they have to let the price go up until demand goes down enough to meet supply.
The only way out for COMEX is if the economy crashes hard enough to destroy industrial demand without causing the masses to FOMO. Not sure now they gonna do that.

Listening to other stackers. I also thought we'd overthrow the gubbmint in the 90's. What you believe depends a lot on who you listen to.
>How can this not end in disaster?
I already said how
By miners and refiners depositing their silver directly from the dirt into the comex so they can short it.
>At some point they have to let the price go up
they don't control the price. All they are is a warehouse.
You're confusing the comex with the speculators that use it. And the price WILL go up. That's not a disaster for either the comex or bankers or miners. It's neutral for comex, and a good thing for bankers and miners.
People that need silver won't like it much, but they'll pass the increase on to customers so at the end of the day it's just inflation doing what it always does.

Why would miners and refiners sell on COMEX when they can get higher prices in Shanghai? Even if they did that would not be enough since all those buying from miners/refiners directly will have to go through COMEX instead. The problem is overall demand vs supply. 1000 million ounces a year demand vs. 800 million ounces mined/recycled. That's 200 million ounces to little. And that's been the case for years. It can't end any other way than silver going up, COMEX or not. Like you say, COMEX might not matter ultimately, but it's an indicator of market health and when shit is going to hit the fan.

By "COMEX" is mean the whole exchange infrastructure, including the bullion banks or at least their commodity divisions. The vaults themselves belong to the big players (JPM, BofA, Asahi, etc.).

I'd agree, except to say that manipulating the price and making fake liquidity is the point of the whole thing, and it's not just bankers doing it. However, there are more players trying to buy up physical that are making bigger and bigger moves (india and china mostly) so the manipulators are getting diminishing returns on said manipulation.

Fine. 10%. In the meantime,
- housing prices have gone up at least as much - 15% in my neighborhood.
- DOW Jones has gone up 35%
- You've still got to sell, and you're going to have to sell massive quantities. Any [legitimate - who else will have that kind of capital] seller is going to make a record of this and tax man is going to want their cut of profits - you DID keep all the receipts for all the purchases so you can discount that from profit, right? Plus, that seller *might* sell at spot, but he sees you're desperate and will probably buy for less. GO online? You've got 100 pounds of the stuff to ship. Who's going to pay that? and insure it, of course. Is there a limit to how much can be insured?
