while there are people who over rely on this single indicator, RSI
RSI is a top 5 indicator that everyone should have on their charts, and people should look at multiple time frames, hourly, 4 hour, daily, weekly, monthly
so for this reason, the OP picture seems to me to be more of a demoralization technique, trying to discourage people from using RSI on their charts
don't fall for the demoralization, continue to use RSI as one of your indicators, among many
do not over rely on RSI - it can always get more oversold, more overbought

Lol. Yeah. We're all broke. We all just didn't make it. That's why we use TA as one of the tools in our analyses.
>fundamental analysis
>sentiment analysis
>technical analysis
You need to use all 3. Sometimes the market is driven by fundamentals. Sometimes the market is driven by sentiment / options positioning / gamma. Sometimes the market is driven by technicals.
If you rely on only one, fundamentals, which the majority of /smg/ long term investors do, then you are shooting yourself in the foot, unable to produce the best results, when the market is not a fundamental market. You should employ all 3 analyses, and you should never rely on just one.
And again, there's no one forcing you to use TA lol. For the rest of us, our bottom line, it would be better if you continued to think TA was just hocus pocus bullshit. We will capitalize on your mistakes, and would prefer you reduced your edge as much as possible - your loss = our profit

the problem with MACD as an indicator for most traders (yourself included probably) is that people try to use MACD as it was originally intended, to look for crosses from red to green
>Oh, MACD just crossed from red to green on the daily!! Buy buy buy!!!
this is what you're told to believe about MACD
instead of thinking about MACD / trading MACD like this, you should be using MACD just to identify trends / potential tops and bottoms
For example, you see MACD on the daily has been green for many days, attempted to go red, failed, went back green again for a second sequence
in this second green MACD sequence, you are not looking for the cross back to red - by that time it will be too late - you are looking for when MACD (in combination with all your other indicators, sentiment analysis, fundamental analysis) is overextended, huge green 'candles' to the upside way above 0 - this is when you would be building a short position NOT when it has already crossed over to red
does that make sense? in other words, you front run the MACD - you don't wait for it to cross, you see "oh it may cross in a week or two, seems like the trend is dying out" - then you go short
If you wait to see MACD cross back to red, you are 9 times out of 10 too late, where all the traders who did expect the golden cross are now using that liquidity provided by the everyone now buying on the cross to exit (happens both ways)

I have no idea about the “tools” of technical analysis. Neither do I know anything about astrology or laying tarot cards and yet I can make a judgment about it. It does not matter that I have no idea about TA. My theses are based on the fact that the price movements arise from coincidentally arriving events. This thesis cannot be refuted. >price movements arise from coincidentally arriving events
that's literally what TA is.. unironically, after enough time, you are able to look at 1 minute charts (or whatever tick you prefer) and are able to know, before the news release becomes public, that news dropped. You are able to look at the price movements, and know that an event just arrived (outside of scheduled releases)
it is how sometimes we are able to post here
>what news just dropped?
and all the non-TA fags go "what are you talking about! normal price movement!!"
and then 5 minutes later, the story comes out that XYZ person said XYZ, which caused the spike

Computers can evaluate millions of charts, calculate indicators and recognize patterns in a fraction of a second. Even better, they can classify possible patterns recognized by TA traders and check for past data whether they would have led to success (“backtesting“). There is no reason why a human should be better at this, because according to the definition of technical analysis, fundamental data (what is happening in the environment of the traded asset) plays no role in the decision. So a computer has the same information as a human, it can process it better, is more disciplined and is not subject to emotional fallacies and biases. But a “professional trader” is supposed to have an advantage over this??

I think that non-TA traders / investors such as yourself think that TA is magic, that people who use TA think that TA can never be wrong, that by employing TA in your analyses, you will never have an unprofitable trade ---- they (you) are missing the entire point
Yes.. computers are better than humans at trading (if you have humans who input their human decision making criteria and have the computer execute it..)
What you are missing, not understanding, not getting, is that TA is all about increasing your edge. Think about it like casino Blackjack
>UMM, SWEATY, YOU KNOW A COMPUTER COULD COUNT CARDS BETTER THAN YOU, RIGHT???
The whole point is to increase your edge.. in Blackjack, you are looking to flip the house advantage in your favor, where now you are winning 51% of the time house is losing 49% of the time
this little 1-2% boost to your edge, is enough to put the odds in your favor, where with enough repeated instances (reduce variance), you will come out ahead
that is the whole point of TA, to increase your edge, as much as possible
If you don't understand this / can't understand this / can't wrap your head around the benefits of increasing your edge by even 1%, you are a lost cause

I really hate people who aim for a 51% or 52% green trade rate and then give advice to people, I see this all the time on Twitter. If your trades are green less than 70% of the time just shut up and get good, if your system makes you win less often than that it's just bad. I buy cheap commodities so I can hold and sell when they get green, sometimes it's a meaningless gain but that puts me way over a 90% winning rate.

if he can wrap his head around that, which most people can - most people understand that counting cards gives you an edge, then he can understand why employing TA as one of the many tools in your analyses can also give you a 1-2% edge (minimum) and how much of a difference that can make
I think that even people who think TA is hocus pocus bullshit are able to wrap their head around the idea that by employing TA they may be able to boost their edge by just 1%

>However, we can clearly see the win ratio is pretty similar despite different returns.
>Which day of the week is best to buy stock?
>Based on the table above, the best day of the week to buy a stock is Monday. If you buy at the close on Monday and hold until the close Tuesday (the next day), you gain 0.12%.
there are a lot of different studies on this, some have different results - in general, buying on Monday, selling on Friday is the 'accepted' narrative
in general, you are better off doing so from 3:00 to 4:00pm eastern, in the final hour of the day - a lot less likely to run into brutal reversals (where you'd buy at 9:30am and then the market falls right after you buy)

what you don't seem to understand, is that if you have all market participants, from retail traders, to hedge funds, to large institutions, to quant funds, and they all follow these same assumptions, all base their trades on these same assumptions, just like you are describing, it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, and does behave based upon the TA
in other words.. if everybody on Earth pretends that at 2:00pm they sell, it doesn't matter whatsoever that this 2:00pm time is completely arbitrary - everyone is still selling

>you don’t have any idea what you’re talking about
I have used TA to produce 80%+ returns per year, for the last 5 years. I have worked for 3 different funds, all three of which employed TA - both on their prop desk as well as their long term portfolios. So yeah, I do know what I'm talking about. You're just a retard.
Again, no one is forcing you to use TA. You are welcome to believe that it is hocus pocus bullshit all you want. The less your edge is, the better it is for the rest of us. Your loss = our gain.
I would rather you continue to believe TA is bullshit and trade without it. I will take advantage of your mistakes.

You don't understand debt-based fiat, debt is the money, more debt = more money stock = asset inflation. Declining rates were not the cause of e.g. ballooning PE ratios, monetary expansion was the cause, declining rates were merely the vehicle for monetary expansion, now rates are 5% and the debt is $30T, the vehicle for expansion is now bond interest. Remember, you can't ACTUALLY borrow from the future, when you loan money into existence you've just created a new fraudulent claim on existing resources, the debt is framed as a future problem so you don't pay attention to the actual real time effects
