The other thread is gross. I'll post for them to come over to this thread. I spent over a decade on /k/, OPERATORchan and other Chan /k/s, never ventured outside of them except to the occasional /x/ cross posted thread. I've only been on /biz/ for the past 2 years. My first experience here was someone sock puppeting a thread shilling for buying diamonds as an investment. I almost bought one before remembering I had about 30toz of silver and why I started stacking in the first place. I was still into shitcoins at the time and gambled in that casino for another year before finally consolidating it into BTC and buying gold. With the amount of people attacking PMs and being aware of its scarcity I know we're on the right track. They're for the paitent long holders. If crypto gamblers just stuck to DCAing PMs and kept their nose clean we wouldn't see so many crypto failures. Getting rich quick rarely happens.

To the anon from the last thread talking about quitting drinking: check out the NAC protocol. Go to the /CDF/ general on /x/, download the shortened white paper version, and order the 3 supplements off Amazon.

I went from drinking about 18-24 IPAs a week, plus liquor sometimes, to a couple glasses of wine every 8-10 days now. The cravings went away significantly after a few weeks and I don't get as many of the negative thoughts that made me want to drink in the first place. It also cleared my athletes foot, IBS issues, and some other shit. It will cost you about $60 in supplements to try it for 2 months and the only thing you need to do dietary wise is cut down on bread, beer, and processed sugars.

The theory is that overgrowth of fungal colonies in your body, mostly specific yeast strains, are responsible for a whole host of ailments, and that they also make us crave sugar, breads, and alcohol as they feed off those items. If you cut those colony sizes down with supplements (namely 2 essential oils and an amino acid), you will see a reduction of all sorts of symptoms. Reduction of alcohol cravings are considered more of a side effect, but damn if it doesn't work. Best of luck.

I had some fungus under two of my fingernails. Switched from beer and wine to hard seltzers and liquor and it never came back after it grew out. I was drinking a 6 pack of beer or a whole bottle of cheap wine after work every day and double on Friday and Saturdays. I smoked weed during COVID, and it's alright but it smells like low class failure and I don't want that trashy stigma associated with me. And the munchies are bad too. I'm 30lbs overweight so I'm stopping drinking for the winter when I tend to drink more and sticking to lifting. CBD is good though, I'm not anti cannabis, it's just everyone I know that smoked weed on a regular basis ends up being a total looser. The amount of people I used to hang out with who keep talking about doing something productive without doing it is said. "Oh I'm totally going to start a pod cast." "I just need to get in the garage and start working on my motorcycle again." "Yeah I'm going to quit but I keep buying ounces." THC is for niggers.

Lol. I seldom shoot my m855 these days as I've read that most of the current production is underpowered/more inconsistent. Also it cost twice as much as I paid for it lol.

I don't recall more than 1/2" difference in poi at 50 (so probably around 1 moa) from any of my guns so far, so I'll use m193 to sight anything in and steel pretty much exclusively after that. I also have some steel targets I'd like to not ruin lol. Steelcore are my shtf loads now.

Ya, I haven't found any cannabis stuff myself that I find it useful but I don't judge anyone about that sorta thing. A few years back I was enjoying delta 8 gummies fairly regularly, but I noticed the effects were lingering and I was still feeling "stupid" the next day at work so I stopped. Kratom is absolutely awesome for muscle/joint pains though, and probably easier on your body than Tylenol or prescription opiates. Also you can buy like 300 doses worth for around $70 lol. I actually took some last night along with NAC and glycine after a shitload of yardwork and I'm about to take some preemptively before I start hanging more Christmas lights soon. Had i not taken that stuff last night, id certainly be sore and achy this morning, but my pain is pretty mild. Now I can go climb up and down a ladder 100+ times lol.

>> No.56780126

Well, more inconsistent, but the underpowered thing is the killer. I've seen reports where batches of LC m855 are averaging 150fps slower than it should. I stack what I can when I can for my own interest and my own reasons.
But more importantly, I'm putting as much of today's dollars into other things like real estate right now. Because I don't expect tomorrow's dollars to be worth anything.
Most important thing right now to me is to not get stuck holding any more fiat than necessary. So in my situation, planning on buying some more land soon, before the big oof.

If you stack long enough you begin to notice that some numismatic items go up much faster than metals do. You will begin to make money off the numismatic values of a few coins and bars even when metals are flat or going down.
But at the start this is pretty much random. You're buying new items so you have no idea what's going to go up in value and can't reproduce that success.

if you continue down this path you might notice that some items have been going steadily up in value much faster than metals for decades, or even centuries. You might get gud at identifying those types of items, and buying them to make a quick buck. You might even find ways to make instant money, such as buying mid-grade coins at the lower grade and selling them at the higher one. Or buying cleaned coins and tarnishing or toning them to improve visual appeal.

In time you'll learn that coin dealers aren't paying retail for numismatic coins, and you might figure out where they're shopping and how they're getting numismatic items for pennies on the dollar.

By that time you will be making lots of money off numismatic items, but you will probably dislike bullion for its lack of profit potential. Also you will no longer be investing in coins, since investing is a fairly passive activity. You will be in the business of buying and selling coins for profit. Actually working for your buck. But this is not an unusual path for people that like pretty coins and are disappointed to learn they won't make much money on them.

>investment
your defintion of investment and money seem to be different than what is true.

you still have your silver/gold, so youre not out any money. which is why you diversify into it, i mean surely you werent putting all your money into just metals?

its pretty simple really
>there is more silver/gold traded than physically exists, so to have physical is better than paper
>gold and silver has always been money, it has not changed in this fact.
>its anonymous
>it retains value while fiat continues to decline towards zero
>little to no risk

what you are complaining about if i can guess is perceived loss of potential earnings elsewhere, which could also be potential losses themselves. hindsight being 20/20, i could have put all my money into the one shitcoin that made the most and pulled out at the right time and coudd be living on an island. i could also debt trap myself or short myself into oblivion.

i dont get it, what did you expect your metals to do?? mine sit there and grow slowly as i add 5-10% of my takehome to it. same with my stocks and my crypto. lastly i saw something about land being an investment. its a terible idea unless you are going to develop it or use it otherwise its a liability more than anything (plus taxes)

>assume it's not real, there's no way anyone would sell at such a loss, this must be silver-plated at best and fake at worst
>thank them for their time and leave
Did I make the right decision, bros? As part of my due diligence, I asked them what organization they were a part of so I could perhaps look them up to make sure that they were legit, and they told me something along the lines of "we aren't a company, we're just some traveling merchants trying to help Christians in the holy land". I feel bad because it was kinda awkward, but I probably just saved myself from buying $600 of fancy scrap metal, right? It was a beautiful chalice but I don't have that kind of money to spend on something which I might not actually be a good investment. I don't know a whole lot about buying/selling metals.
I wish I could trust people and take them at their word, but people who trust easily (even fellow Christians) tend to lose their money easily, right?

there is no static thing. You did not evolve to hold still. Success comes from changing behavior as environments change. Eventually you fall and another rises in your place. It's a cycle, a wheel.

You guys are the ambush predators of the financial world. You think if you stake out a spot on the river and hold really still, eventually the zebras will come to you. Sometimes this works. Usually it doesn't.

you might have missed a great deal but probably not. They usually know what they're selling and what it's worth. They're looking for people like you, the sort of person who would take advantage of them if they don't know what they're doing. And then they take advantage of you instead.

this is the biggest allure of precious metals. They appear to be static. Unchanging through history. And they sort of are.

if you can find something that doesn't change while everything around it changes constantly, it can be an anchor in reality. It can be low when everything else is high, and high when everything else is low. But clinging too hard to something that doesn't change is a problem, because not only is the world changing, but we are changing too. Holding tight to an anchor that's above water at low tide is just going to drown you when the high tide comes in. Mostly you have to move, and you have to change. Nothing wrong with having an anchor, everyone should have something to hold onto. But don't hold it too tight, don't make it your entire world. It will drown you eventually.

we usually call this the "mid-life crisis"

that point where a man (it's always men) hits about 50 and suddenly realizes he spent his entire life working for complete bullshit. Suddenly his goals and priorities change, and he throws away the things he wasted time and energy on up to that point. Silver is often one of those things. Gold maybe too. Guns possibly.
Some men never hit this point and go through life like children, never looking inward and never examining their own actions. Such men tend to be quite happy so long as they don't mind being alone.

one of the funnier ideas /pmg/ has is if you hold silver or gold, banks and nations can't write paper derivatives on your metals.

this is probably true if about 85% of metals were in private individuals hands. But as things stand right now, banks are writing paper derivatives based on the silver YOU own. Just like governments are raising taxes and borrowing money based on the silver you own.

you own it in the sense that you could hide it from the banks and nations, but that won't change anything. They'll keep right on borrowing against it because they don't need to know where it is. Only that it exists.

You are now upset because you somehow can't manage to make a profit. That means you are either a poorly informed buyer (a you problem), or a terrible salesman (a you problem), and either way a terrible investor. Instead of taking this and learning from it you came here to blame everything but your own failings for not being able to make a profit on something so heavily stacked in your favor. I don't buy silver. I haven't bought silver for longer than you've been alive.

I'm very generously explaining why I don't buy silver. I don't care if you buy silver, that's none of my business. If you do buy it I hope you pay far less than spot for it. Some of you do that and it's a good idea. But even then I wouldn't buy silver because I don't expect it to go up in value, and 50% of spot isn't worth it to me to spend all that time learning how to find good deals and then going out and finding them. There are much easier ways to make a lot more money. Again, not complaining if you do that. That's your business. I'm just here explaining to the britanon complaining about silver's gawdawful performance over the last couple years that IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS SINCE 1964. Silver has it's moments, but they're extremely short and far between. Most of the time it just crabs or goes down in a slow and utterly demoralizing manner for years at a time.

Second of all, I agree you make money with other avenues then secure it with gold and silver. If gold and silver explode in the future it will be because fiat collapses, which will be a bad time for everybody, though slightly less bad for people holding valuable commodities or the demands for them in tech will become ever increasing and people will realize thier true value not as a shiny token but as a valuable and necessary part of moving civilization forward and the price will increase to reflect that. My in laws are doing this. Same with my coworkers and immediate family. They all have their own reasons to do so long term and their own timeframes of utilizing their saved fiat. Even with how popular and easy it has become to invest in the stock market and crypto your average person will only ever invest in a home or 401k. Most people will save thier money in a bank, they won't buy property to develop, own a business, or put thier money into stocks, crypto, or commodities. For most people I think that those are all still viewed as something for rich people to do not your average person.

We all have savings in case of emergency, but it's like a few months income or whatever. If I met someone saving everything in a bank I'd laugh at their face because it's a terrible idea. Not that the stock market or real estate is guaranteed, but it's a much better bet than fiat. Even silver outperforms fiat and most savings accounts over periods of 40 years or so.

Probably unrelated but there are persistent rumors of UBS imminent collapse. You probably remember they had to absorb Credit Suisse after it went bankrupt (with a shitload of taxpayers' money, or more precisely borrowed money taxpayers will have to pay one way or another, more likely via swiss franc devaluation), but the integration is proving to be quite nightmarish, with a shitload of horrible positions and hidden losses of which UBS is now the owner, and it might very well drag them down in the abyss too. They reported enormous losses for the quarter last week, and a bunch of bankers jumped the ship to not be held responsible for the incoming shitshow.

Media stopped talking about Credit Suisse implosion after just few days, to not induce more panic, but it's not the kind of situations easily solved, this was a fucking behemoth, 2 trillions USD of assets under management, it was evident it would trigger shockwaves after shockwaves in a walking dead financial ecosystem. Lehman was a total nothingburger compared to CS. Even if they try to memoryhole as much as they can, few years from now, once we are knee deep in it, it will be remember as the lynchpin who triggered the collapse of the modern monetary system.

Last time I talked with him, he's mostly in cash as he believes the market is going to have a serious downturn and wanted to solidify his gains. With the rest of the inlaws, I know they're holding fiat long term. With two of my sisters at least, I know they're HEAVILY into fiat. I've tried to get them to purchase just a few ounces of silver and explained to them to treat it as a savings. Only one half listened. With only two co workers, they're big into guns and metals for financial protection. Rest of my co workers are blindly saving fiat. One even told me she doesn't even think about it, once her bills are paid, the rest is tossed into savings or consoomed.

That sounds more in line with what I was thinking. I guess I should have said successfully own/run a business. It is, but I don't consider a 401k etc as "investing" since that is usually something that is all automatic and tied to your job. I could be wrong but I think if a retirement account wasn't offered and automatically pulled from your check that most people wouldn't be putting that money into a retirement account. It would go towards snacks, car payments, a new TV, etc. If 401ks disappeared tomorrow I don't think we would see an influx of new investors in the stock market, I think we would see people spending more to pay off debts or using the extra cash to take on new debts.
