REQ is currently working on adding ERC20 tokens and Bitcoin support. Fiat is after that.

The point of Request Network is that you can demand payment in whatever you want (for example USD). And the payer can pay in whatever they want (crypto,erc20,other fiat) and through 0x and kyber they will get exchanged in real time with the lowest fees possible (an order of magnitude lower than the exchange rates of credit cards).

Aside from its intended usage, which is what everyone is basing their valuation estimates on, it will tap directly into a $500 billion crypto-market in which it's currently hard to cash out of, and expensive to buy into.

So it might, or might not steal marketshares from Paypal. But it sure as shit will become a force to be reckoned with in the cryptomarkets.

Yeah, the buy book is really the most worrisome thing about the 11 2X plan. It's not easy, you're right, I just like to think of it in that simplified way. It is less stressful. $70 billion marketcap is reasonable.

Please also realize that Ycombinator personally contacted the REQ team. The only other time Ycombinator did that in the crypto world is when they were the first investors into Coinbase.

Hell, Ycombinator still owns a huge chunk of coinbase and they could theoretically force coinbase to adopt REQ. Think about that.

Also REQ wants to be short-term used for all future-ICO's and ALL crypto transactions between EVERY crypto.

This shit is destined to hit #1 spot. If you read the whitepaper you should also know that they are only an ERC20 token by design and it could be detached from ERC20 in the future and become their own crypto if they wanted to. They just determined that it would be cheaper in the short term to be an ERC20.

More FUD and/or ignorance. First of all, they are blockchain agnostic. They aren't limited to work on the ETH blockchain alone. Could easily jump to NEO's or the one Universa is providing next year (over 20k tps).

Second, they aren't closed to the idea of making their own blockchain, if required.

Seriously, just read the whitepaper.

>>5680175
Because any ERC20 token is limited to things ETH can already (potentially) do. Ergo, there's no reason for ERC20 tokens to really exist and their features could just be handled by ETH directly once it matures more. Or ETH will be replaced.

I'm not saying this is the case for REQ, since it may detach.

>> No.5680409

>>5680259
>I'm aware of that, I'm just saying that they're going to have to do it.
OMG is doing it. WTC are doing it. If REQ feels like it is needed, they will.

And ERC-20 tokens are not limited. They are just new. We don't have even a year with a lot of erc-20 based projects, and they are barely starting to lit off. You know what is really limited right now? Smart Contracts. But that is a problem ChainLink is trying to resolve, with success, probably.

Also, you do know Coinbase is adding ERC-20 tokens in 2018 right? And several exchanges will start offering more fiat pairings for alts, tokens included.

>> No.5680487

>>5674743
that's all fun and good but what is the purpose of REQ

Why does it need it's own token

The platform and Request Network is amazing, but REQ is absolutely worthless in it of itself.

It's basically, "here have early access to be able to use our network for cheaper since you bought the thing our network runs on, even though this thing really isn't needed we just made it that our network needs this token" But with token burning it's also saying that if you don't use our network, you'll eventually make more money.

I've made my bed with Ark for that (among other things).

And no, I don't really follow Coinbase since I don't care about it. Probably should though since it's normie money.

I probably should load up on more REQ but it feels so awful to add to my holdings at more than double my entry.

>Why does it need it's own token

>> No.5680775

>>5680487
The reason why REQ needs its own token is because that way they can make the service have 0 profit margin.

This means that no competition such as Paypal will be able to compete with REQ since REQ will have 0 profit margin and thus can have the lowest fees as possible.

The way that Request Network can still exist while making 0 profit is because they own REQ tokens.

The transaction fee people pay for using Request Network will be 100% used to buy REQ tokens that then get burned. Thus the remaining tokens become worth more over time.

The Request Network team makes profit by making the REQ token value go up.

Do you understand now? The reason why REQ uses tokens is so that they can force a monopoly in the financial market. You can't compete to a company that has 0 profit margin since any other company wouldn't be able to pay their own employees etc.

And another company trying to do what REQ does now will not succeed because REQ will have the first mover advantage and the other company will never be able to have lower fees than REQ since REQ already has 0 profit margin.

This is the TRUE reason why REQ will become a HUGE Behemoth in the financial world. I'm talking about becoming the "facebook" of the financial world. Paypal is not even close to the size REQ will accomplish.

Internet bubble collapsed at 3400 billion in 90's dollars That is around 5000 billion in 2017 dollars

Crypto marketcap is around 594 billion right now. Most likely the entire market will grow 10x before crashing down (Please notice that the economy is now 6x larger than in 1990 and crypto is a world-wide phenomenon instead of just a western stock trading thing like the internet bubble in the 90's so it doesn't have to crash at 5000 billion, not even close)

>loan implementation
Oh, I am selling. Loans are what got us into this mess. Not even kidding. Loans, credit, debt based economy is the very reason btc was created. The money lenders are the cause of a lot of our problems in the world economy.
Imagin a world in which nobody could get a loan for a house, car, education etc. Sure some rich bastards gain a bigger advantage in acquiring those things but they won't buy everything (if they do you just refuse to pay a high premium for rentals and the market for rent becomes competitive). In reality they don't buy everythign because its a waste of thier money to buy overpriced assets. What actually happens is the driving force behind pumping these prices dies and the prices drop by 90%. Sure people who took out mortgages and loans to buy overprices assets would lose out but shit happens. If anything the debt needs to be written off and a reset but what we will get instead is a collapse and it is all thanks to crypto. Having loans in crypto IS the banks old trick and if you fall for it again you are really dumb. By all means buy REQ but NEVER get a loan in crypto. EVER. The only acceptable loan right now is one to buy more crypto, one which you have no intention of ever paying back. Time to bleed the banks dry.

I feel bad for newfags. Yeah that was the norm and actually happened on /biz/ all the time. It looked a lot like LINK and REQ fud since ETH took a very long time to finally truly moon.

Most of /biz/ sold their ETH before it reached their true height though and I suspect that the same will happen with REQ. Most people will sell it at $1, $5 and $10.

Is this rational doubt or emotional doubt because you think "This can't possibly happen to anons like us"?

You know that REQ is a Ycombinator project right? The guys that started Reddit,Twitch,Coinbase. Almost everything they touch turns to gold.

REQ is the only crypto team I know of that actually is AHEAD of schedule on their technical side. They have partnerships with more than 10 companies already and will add ERC20 and BTC support to their product in the next couple of months and fiat support bij Q2 2018.

Do you know of any other crypto platform right now with the same credentials? I don't.

Also realize that while ETH might have far fewer coins. REQ will be burned over time while ETH keeps mining new ones.

I think it's rational. I just see BTC and ETH as "firsts", and also see REQ having a much larger supply. These two things suggest to me such growth is unlikely to repeat, but it's definitely up in the air.

The burning thing helps I suppose, but like ETH's supply increase, it's probably not going to be significant enough to close the gap.
