Options do feel like that on the short term with how complex they are. I dabbled with them for a bit but realized that futures are just better for short term trading. Literally the only thing that matters is opening and closing price and spreads are basically none, 0.25 on NQ and ES 99.9% of the time. Brokers are generally competent as well, just keep in mind, they all work with comissions. Just make sure never to put on a trade without a stop. 500:1 leverage means you need to control your risk closely.

You're trading in a 10k portfolio, and you have a side stash of 100k as backup money. You make a few bets of 10-20k on margin in the daytrading port. End of the year, 60k profit.
That's a 600% return against the 10k, but it's really only a 60% return accounting for the extra stash. That extra capital is needed to recover from a blowup, otherwise when you get some multiple standard deviation gap against your position, you just blow up. It's over.

All of us that trade successfully do this. Well, there are plenty of retards in this general, but most of us do. When you're looking at a small portion of a larger whole, the percentage doesn't really have any meaning at all. Maybe at some point you scale up if the profit is substantially exceeding your daily expenses, but maybe your earnings are roughly at equilibrium and it just stays flat forever. Impossible to say which from looking at one random chart posted anonymously.
