What's wrong with the paper? Seems useful.
For example, I can see how they're applying the statistics to normalize things and compare apples to apples, which is something I can then do in my own stuff.
This looks like it has to do with fertility rates and population growth, which, if there is no longer the ability to have unlimited people growth, then yes, expansion rates will slow down and we'll enter a global population equality.
But define "better". There will always be billionaire funds to scalp money from and a flow of capital. The markets might change but money is money and there is always opportunity, you just need to constantly adapt

They're using the old broken Malthusian models.
1) Those predated differential equations, we have way better models for how groups of people handle running up against the carrying capacity for their territory now.
2) People have been saying this for centuries and they're consistently wildly wrong.
3) If we did run into this literally all we have to do to fix it is cut aid to Africa.

Rocker this makes me think even less of you. You are here fishing for sympathy and you fucking pussied out having a real talk with your dad about enabling your sister and if your mom wants a divorce fucking let her. They will still be your parents but at the end of the day they are both adults in a relationship and the success of their relationship should ultimately have no impact on your happiness. All you are doing is prolonging the inevitable and bringing on a worse fate by sweeping things under the rug to keep your families dysfunctional relationships going. Stop trying to nurture everyone and just say fuck it, let the baby have it's medicine. Also quit drinking man, it's doing nothing to improve your life. Life is a divine comedy and whether or not the things playing out in front of us and the pain we feel we are meant to experience despite whatever we want. Don't numb yourself to your own existence because you only get one shot at life. I'm sorry I gotta be hard on you but some tough love is what you and your family needs right now

This. Normies can’t understand the thrill of pinning the weasel. Night spent chasing an over amphetamined Caroline around the bean bag forts. Her squealing and gibbering, pouring sweat and on the verge of seizing. Your friends build up an intoxicating, delerious state with Talmudic chantings at the sidelines, hitting the Caroline-toy with brooms if she tries to escape. Sam would be giggling and laughing as the waves of methamphetamine pleasure seem to harmonize with the droning herbrew verses. He runs through the bean bag maze fat and portly, with his viagra powered penis a driving rod for the weasel. Sweat gushing down his face around his unfocused eyes he laughs and chortles until he gasps “Found you!” . The Mathweasel screeches defensively but Wankman Bankman is upon her in seconds. His penis thrusting blindly into her flank, leg, stomach and ribs unconcerned about anything but the motion. Eventually serendipity finds her mouth and the Cocktube Rodent is placated, suckling contently on Bankman’s dehydrated dick.

Lehman was just another bank, as old and respectable as it may have been.
Housing bonds don't have that sci-fi "the future is now" allure like AI does, and in that kind of world it's first come first serve, unless they hit a wall like the equivalent of Moore's law in 20 years that limits the applications,
but for the foreseeable future OpenAI is here to stay in one form or another.

As a WMT wagie, I was looking at news articles and saw a company called Symbotic (SYM) that popped off 40% today. Apparently WMT owns a 65% stake and SoftBank holds 33%. There's not a lot of float on the market and it looks like a good backend logistics company, from 5 minutes of research. Not really unrealistic and even though its a different kind of business, its still got similar bullshit happening from corruption and incompetent management.

I'm old enough to remember the Dot Com bubble. All of that pumping into new tech company startups, the whole buzz with websites popping up everywhere over online shopping(mostly in California, sound familiar?), those huge possibilities put under the spotlight. Then what happened? It popped. Too much money invested was all gone except a few survivors like Amazon famously.

My point is that its another boom and bust cycle. Different industry, same bullshit. Mark my words AI will play a big role in the next recession, along with housing and cars.

What are you even talking about we are pretty much already in a recession. Bubbles happen in industries and burst but what happened with Lehman brothers going under is an entirely different beast all together because if you have a domina effect happening of banks collapsing because they were playing a game of hot potato with toxic debt that's a much bigger influence than tech companies because banks actually play the central role of a beating heart in our economy by moving money around and handing out loans...

I'm sorry this comparison is just mega bad in so many ways.

When the VIX is low is when roll yield is most in your favor and the gains accrue fastest. You're better off shorting when VIX is low with a tight stop loss than only shorting when VIX pumps and hoping to ride the mean reversion back down. I know it's counter intuitive but I've been doing this a while and I've backtested it to death. The results surprised me too

>It's percentage based, is it not? That is, 13->20 is a 54% movement
It is but futures traders don't necessarily look at it like that. Vix futures are worth $1000 a point so if you're short a single contract and it goes from 20 to 13 you make $7000. Figure your stop loss, how much you're willing to lose if it's hit and then short (long) the indicated number of contracts

>> No.56742082

>>56742059
>percentage based
that doesn't mean anything, you short at 13 knowing it could spike to 40 or even 90 (very unlikely but possible if shit really hits the fan hard), so you take that into account when sizing your position for maximum drawdown. Then you get your $0 to $3 every month from contango

Found a way to get free money: short women owned companies.

>A woman-owned business is a specific designation used by American government agencies and industry associations to set aside special programs to encourage and empower female business owners. Most definitions of this term involve a practical look at the legal and ownership structure, as well as the issue of control of the day-to-day operations of a business. The consideration of control of a business is meant to discourage the practice of men placing wives, daughters, or low-level female employees in positions of ownership, when in fact she may have little to do with the day-to-day management of the company, for the sake of receiving some government benefits or other consideration.

>A Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) is defined as one that is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled on a daily basis by one or more female American citizens. WBEs are typically certified by a third-party, city, state or federal agency.[1] The Small Business Administration offers a similar definition of a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) as a small business that is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled on a daily basis by one or more (in combination) female American citizens.[2] The SBA's WOSB definition differentiates from the WBE definition, as it looks at the size of the business according to the specific industry standards table.[3]

>> No.56742758

>>56742737
>There are specific set-aside programs for certain NAICS codes in which certified WOSBs (or in some cases Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Businesses (EDWOSB), a subcategory of WOSB) may receive special consideration in a U.S. government contract.[18] According to OpenSecrets, the Federal government of the United States gave $25.4 billion in federal contracts to women-owned businesses in 2017, this was 5 percent of the total budget in the fiscal year. This was up from 3.25 percent of contracts in fiscal year 2008.[19]

The secret is to just not take on too much debt. There are companies out there with literally no debt. Hell, the REIT sector got completely raped in the financial crisis and didn't get bailed out like the financial one. So they changed all their debt to be 1) fixed rate and 2) long term to withstand moments like this. Also just selling stock

Everyone is so high on stock buy backs that people forget you can sell stock to raise money

>In the end, Ms. Toner and Ms. McCauley agreed to step down from the board because it was clear that it needed a fresh start, this person close to deliberations said. If all of them stepped down, they worried that it would suggest the board erred even though they collectively felt they did the right thing, this person said.

I wouldn't mind that much if the infrastructure was any good but $10 for a two-way buss ticket to drive 30km to and back? Fugg ovv.
And why am I being taxed for holding stocks? Why is already taxed money taxed again? And what is even worse is that normies are fine with this. We are pathetic.

they'll do equity raises, along with everyone else, the likes of which you have literally never seen. the buyback spree goes all the way back into the 80s, but let's not pretend it's terribly relevant pre dot-com bubble. here's a chart.
these small and mid-size companies are all on life support. when they're gone, the jobs are gone. when the jobs are gone, there is no one to advertise to. when there is no one to advertise to, google, netflix, meta, all get smashed. when there is no real need for the next generation of bullshit your kids just absolutely have to have, nvidia and apple get smashed.
buybacks dwindle to nothing, and they issue instead, slowly slaughtering all of your unrealized gains.

I hope people don't think just because NVIDIA is making money with a monopoly, thus 75% gross margin, the economy is absolutely great.

They are selling mainly to other companies, that are in a RACE to AI.

It is comparable to some company selling crucial rocketparts to the US and Russia for their race to the moon, which was equally fake and gay as AI.

Even Tesla booming was a better indicator, as they are at least selling to companies as well as private households, reflecting a broader spectrum of the economy without the pursuit for profits by the people/companies that buy the product.
