Really I just want a quick doubling or tripling of any of these very beaten down silver juniors and I'll get right back into our lovely salty speculation play.
It's not in a real hurry to go anywhere and I wouldn't bat an eye if it fell 50% from here, so I doubt it's going to run away from me.
Especially if PMs start ramping up, I bet a lot of people will do the same thing as I did and they'll run from their stagnant plays for a while.
If my gamble plays out well, I'll manage to unfuck my red salt prospects very nicely by multiplying the bag.
And checked, your doubles compensated for the lack of mine, it's a second hand blessing.

Thoughts on Bayhorse Silver?
https://www.juniorminingnetwork.com/market-data/stock-quote/bayhorse-silver.html

Jumped from 1 cent to 6.5 cents, after bleeding from 25 cents 2 years ago.

Is it a buy? A hold? or a sell?

Do any mining stocks ever actually escape the devaluation cycle? Seems like every time it pumps, the ceo's issue more stock and then drive it to the ground. I'm wondering if I should take a 60% loss and get out while I can, or if there is a chance I'll get back to even or more - I mean I doubt anyone can give me a genuine answer since we are all gambling here hoping that one junior miner stumbles on a massive ore deposit. I really dislike "investing" in junior miners, I dont know how you fags do this shit day in day out

What should I do? Sell at 60% loss? or hold bayhorse?

Bayhorse is hugely manipulated. If you think it will be shilled to a new wave of suckers who like the idea of silver but are too stupid to buy silver, then buy it. Whatever stories you've heard come around every time there's an attempt to capitalize on silver buzz, and it sucks up wealth that would otherwise go into price discovery of metals.

But you do you. It could shoot up again, who knows.

Looks more like a descending triangle to me after failing to reach that 2.60ish resistance. High red volume towards the end might indicate a breakdown is coming, but usualy descending triangles are continuations of downtrends. It's been trending up recently and if you use the uptrend line as a support then suddenly it seems like a regular old symmetrical triangle, which could still be breaking downwards and would explain the big red volume recently and it crawling along the 100dma

Also the ~2 dollar support lines up almost perfectly with the 50% fib drawn from the May low (not pictured) which will act as support, so it may well be a false breakdown before resolving upwards and resuming the uptrend to take another stab at that ~2.60ish resistance.

All in all I'm not confident which way this is gonna break, probably down as you suspect but it might just dip down to tag the 200dma and carry on up. Too many contradicting signals and too small mcap to apply all this with any real certainty, for myself at least.

Pan Man, this is something I've been wondering for years, but I hesitate to ask on mining forums because it'll likely make a lot of people butthurt mad.

Do you think mining safety regulations have gone too far in the West and have made mining here less attractive than just getting resources from the third world?

I've known coal miner safety guys who've admitted as much to me, but they have to say it softly, of course.

SAFETY FIRST, after all. It's almost like some people have made a religion out of safety in mining.

I agree with it, but wonder if it has gone too far, what with people -- heavy smokers -- claiming black lung after a few years in the mines.

>> No.56740072

>>56740031
I also wonder if environmental cleanliness standards have gone too far in the West when it comes to mining.

>> No.56740183

>>56740031
No to the contrary i think the safety regulations are fine, but the way their often enforced does get in the way of productivity. However, thats ok, the guys working are more important. My CMAC mates when i chat with them harp on and on about the safety stuff being bullshit, but then admit its probably for the best. Working safely means slower or more tedious but it means you dont loose fingers or at worse die. With those guys, if its something dangerous to do thats not safe, they will do it themselves but not force anyone else to do it.

For example, the Brucejack gold mine in northern BC was forced to rethink its safety guidelines when they had multiple deaths in the same year, something no one wants on the job. Turns out no one was taking general safety seriously because the attitude was "suck it up and work". In the end it meant multiple weeks of shut downs and layoffs.
You can get the job done and be safe, but it takes the guys to care for it to work.

On the Environmental side, i think the regs have gone way too far, but its often down to the industry setting poor standards or greed, but some of it is incompetence from the gov its self. The regs get tighter and tighter because there is more scrutiny on the sector to do better. As a note, a lot of the regulation to do with water management and treatment, especially in BC, is beyond nuts. Its getting to the point even a bad rain storm can shut an operation down for days until all the extra water is processed and discharged.

Very interesting answer.
Yes, I worked in a chemical plant before I got into mining and that place was a safety nightmare. People showing up drunk, on meth etc. People crashing forklifts but knowing how to beat the piss tests afterward.
It was hell to work at. It wasn't even union but people basically couldn't get fired because even the drunk guys and meth heads knew the job and the newbies took too long to train.

In mining I am concerned about the macro-level when it comes to the question I ask, because I don't want mining to be regulated out of business, so to speak, in North America, Europe, Australia. I agree with working safely and carefully and not ordering guys into shitty situations when it comes to the day to day stuff. That's the micro-level, at least the way I'm drawing the distinction here.

My dad once worked at a place where the boss's son, a real hot head, ordered an illegal Mexican worker to climb a tall pallet rack in order to retrieve an item. The pallet he pulled the heavy piece from came loose and was tipping. If he moved and brought the item down, the pallet would have fallen, likely hitting him and maybe crushing him at the bottom.

My dad said the boss's son kept screaming at this Mexican guy to come down, come down, hurry up -- like he was getting a kick out it. My dad intervened and told the boss's son someone might get killed and the son, angrily, relented and had the Mexican guy put the part back.

I don't know all the details and mechanics of the story or how the pallet was positioned, but that's how my dad tells it, and from things I saw in the workplace before I got into mining I can believe it.

Mining seems much safer to me than revolving door industries like chemical plants and warehousing; or rather, the companies actually prioritize safety, whereas in other industries, any mention of safety is pure lip service.

I've seen fire doors regularly blocked by special order-picking carts for months on end, and the place even

>> No.56740387

>>56740377
passed the safety inspection, which didn't occur on my shift, so maybe they moved those carts from the fire doors. But the rumor was the owner was tight with the inspectors and the inspectors just let shit go that were obvious violations of OSHA standards.

So I've seen the uglier side of the workplace where safety comes dead last.

I have a friend in AZ who lived and grew in an area that had some amount of coal tailings, probably in the 60s? He was born 1990s. Anyways, he's a troon now, due to endocrine disruption that is linkable to the environment, and many people in that area apparently had cancers or generational birth defects.
But then, lots of shitty environmental stuff happened during the 50s and 60s; by the 90s and 2000s, I think things are more or less standardized and taken care of. I agree there might be too much safety.

But that might also be by design, since it means local production is expensive, and production can be moved overseas where it is more exploitative and has better margins

I don't think he's a retard. He just made a point I disagree with.
I really doubt it's "fossil fuel" chemicals causing the sociological problems we're seeing today.

Rather, the origins are cultural and sociological: bad messages from media and academia, the end of the extended family leaving vulnerable people with limited support systems, broken nuclear families, etc.

like you say, in some sites i ve been to any discussion on safety was pure lip service and it showed on how long staff stayed on the project. Personal safety slips would go unsigned by shift bosses, guys would be fucking around without planning a stage first. Injuries were common and guys never stayed longer than a few months. Its interesting you bring up firings, because i have noticed an up tick in shit management bringing in their favorites, then letting those guys do all sorts of stuff without getting fired.

One simple incident that comes to mind is we were working on a project in winter, and every morning safety meeting the site manager would remind guys to salt the steps to the office every morning so we dont slip and break our necks. No one did it, and finally a guy broke both his legs on those steps. Management clammed up about mentioning salt, like it was never said before in a meeting.

>> No.56741192

>>56740413
a lot of the safety regs seem redundant, especially when your the guy in charge of actually trying to implement them on a job site. So much to do with stuff like spill kits, or fueling, grease control is all the same stuff with minor tweaks that you have to have implemented but no one does because its a pain in the ass.

>> No.56741544

It's sad to see safety culture slipping because of management; that's the kind of safety backsliding I really dislike.
Things like wearing too few inches of reflective clothing in a coal mine, being 6 inches short of it, it kinda petty.
But when management is becoming nepotistic, greedy, incompetent, and rolling back safety measures, that's very bad news.

Cameco has gone from $20 to $45 in a year, last time it was this high was in 2010. I wouldn't call that nothing.
Uranium stocks in general have run pretty hard for the past months, they're going to cool down a bit after that regardless of the spot price.
Besides you could easily argue that the original run from the very bottom of 2019 was so insanely hard, that the juniors overvalued themselves by such a retarded margin that the spot needs to be really sky high in order for them to pull new highs.
It's good to keep in mind that those fuckers ran entirely on speculation based on nothing but future hype about some pie in the sky $250 Uranium price that may or may not happen.
If Cameco now decides to take a breather and retraces a bit, you can bet your ass the juniors are going to do so too falling way more than Cameco.

I define "exposure" as Qty x ATR. I mostly guessed on what the quantity should've been, but I made sure each ticker in a group had around the same exposure. I did make sure defensive stuff had the most weight, and did a 25% weighting towards bonds.
I was lazy and never actually ended up making all these trades, probably a good thing too because SMR would've killed a ton of profit, as did the countries. An inverse portfolio would have earned approx 11% if I did the math right.

With all the requirements and additional expenses, only big boys can set up mines, and even then, they can only afford the big mines. Chemical and plastic pollution. Back then chemistry was still primitive and you haven't yet had plastics infiltrate absolutely everything. It's like tobacco historically treated as a potential medicine but suddenly in the 20th century, it magically became toxic, and guess what changed in the 20th century with growing it? We still have medical reports that go back that far and they wouldn't have missed something like that even if they didn't understand the underlying reasons for the cause. They still recorded it.

This is exactly right. There used to be far more coal mines in the U.S., even mom and pop mines.
Sure, many of them shut down due to falling demand for coal, but the added regulations, including safety regs, didn't help them.
I'd rather have the safety standards of the 90s and more small mines than the safety standards of today and only large coal companies.

It's amazing how long miners can keep on eating shit or doing nothing despite the direction of the metals being clear.
You'd imagine that sensible people would be piling into them at these prices, they're at an extremely low point, but they barely get any attention
Most of these nonexistent moves are still driven by algos alone.
Commodity investing in the last few years has really shown us that if there's one thing you have with the markets it's time.

We're definitely mooning sooner than later, because silver is breaking through a very big price channel it's been in for 3 years now and gold is pretty damn close to ath anyways.
Both of these have been trying their damnest to break out and there's only so many times you can knock on the ceiling before things break.
And when they break they'll move fast as everyone fomos into the shiny rock sector. People got very excited by that uranium run and are constantly looking for the next thing to do the same.
Can't wait to see the price action in miners when the momentum eventually trickles into them.

They've had that data since they first drilled the domes, that was the very reason for them being ahead of shit pump companies like Vortex.
>We are excited to share these pictures of our drill core which has been instrumental for our team to verify salt quality for early-stage cavern field engineering
That's at best a curiosity, there's nothing new here.

Unfortunately they said nothing and I hate these kinds of nothingburger news to try and make it seem like things are progressing.
I want these fuckers to come out and state where things actually are going with the project.
Are they in any talks with the players who the government chose or not?
Only realistic thing that can screw this up is either the chosen energy company building above ground storage for whatever reason, or the project delaying enough for Vortex to drill and evaluate their domes, and then through the senators father being in the Vortex board of directors, they nepotism the project through as the chosen one.
Which considering how crooked the system is, is entirely possible and I'm increasingly thinking that might actually happen as this hydrogen thing gets drawn out.

Yeah should just get them going publicly at this point, since there's a realistic chance it's not going to get chosen for the storage, at least judging by how long this is taking and we're not hearing anything real from them.
I bet they're not taking it public because they don't want it to be potentially priced at nothing.
But on the flip side if it's starting to look like TPR won't get chosen, they could at least make money from this taking it public and pulling off a scam pump.
If Vortex was able to reach 125 mil MC totally out of the blue, then these guys should be able to do the same easily.
Salt could just start dumping their shares and make some tens of millions easily enough.
Better than walking away with nothing from the whole ordeal.
I don't expect my measly handful of shares to amount to fuckall, but the impact for salt could be somewhat significant if they could make even 25 mil from it, which would be one hell of a marketing budget.

China is running out of domestic coal. What affect will this have on the global coal, natural gas and oil markets?

China uses it's coal primary for electricity but they also use it for steel production and use it to produce oil through the Fischer–Tropsch process.

China has like 140 billion tons of "economically recoverable reserves," last I heard. It's a lot, but the devil is in the wording.

"Economically recoverable reserves" are a small fraction of "estimated recoverable reserves" and take into account current prices and current technology. Like the fracking boom taught us, necessity is the mother of invention, even in fossil fuels.

China, realistically, probably has trillions of tons of coal under its ground ("total resource"). The issue is getting to it. If cheaper coal is running low, or will in 10 years, then more expensive coal reserves will be activated, and economies of scale will bring their prices down.

There are a lot of ways to skin this cat, so to speak -- apologies to cats with that metaphor, since I love kitties -- but you get my drift.

China, by all indications, won't be starving for coal for a very long time. It's domestic market will still dominate supply for a very long time to come with imports making up some slack.
