Yeah they are OK. This is basically the 1rst degree burn of the eye globe. The cornea which is the transparent layer that covers the entire eye peels off and the regenerating cornea is hyper sensitive so it hurts like hell just from the eye globe being exposed to air. The retina ,which is what we actually use to see is unaffected by these things. Welders who don't wear eye protection learn this the hard way.
