i work in accounting and had several coworkers at my old job in their 40s/50s/60s who were still working entry level staff/experienced staff accountant jobs. they likely made around the same as me, $65-75k. of course they all had homes because they bought 20+ years ago when things were affordable. this was in new jersey, where homes are $600k minimum. meanwhile you need a ~$180k salary to afford a home today, which is controller level salary.

One of the things I've learned is to hide my power levels at work.
If given the opportunity I can talk about Hitler's actions that got Germany out of the deep recession in the 30s. I'm more than happy to talk about nigger crime statistics or how many kikes control the banking system and how they do it.
But when needed I can just as easily talk about the most recent <insert goyslop event, thing, happening here>. I'm generally very liked and have one or two boomer one-line funny zingers almost always ready to go.
Know your audiance and how to seem likable to idiots. Make no mistake; most people are idiots and I've come to the uncomfortable conclusion that many if not the majority don't even seem to have an inner monologue or a concept of self-awareness or self-judgement that is only sporadically present.

You need to cut down your cost of living first and foremost.
Enjoy doing things yourself, learn to enjoy making your own food and taking time to do it. Even if it's "cheaper" to buy food, you should make it yourself, because cooking is time where you are ruling over yourself, and it's a fewer hours less that you will be wageslaving to pay your monthly costs.
I'm not going to go overboard and tell you to raise chickens or whatever, but there are lots of things that can save you money.
Don't drink stupid $10 coffee, just make your own at home. If you "need" to arrive at your job with cup of coffee in your hands for status (and status can be a tool to make more money, unfortunately), then buy the cups and brink a bottle of coffee in your car so it looks like you bought it.
I know that americans are kinda rootless, so if retiring in a different place is an option for you, you should definitely do it. You americans make a lot of money, but spend a lot to live. If you save a few hundred thousands of dollars, that's enough to retire in a very comfy and safe third world country.

And especially, this is the big one anon, don't burn out yourself. If you're in doubt about "grinding too much", don't do it. It's NEVER worth it. You're risking mentally exhausting yourself, and money-wise that will cost you a lot more than just taking things easy. And that's money only, the damage it causes in all other spheres of your life is a lot worse. We all have our mental and physical limits. Respect yours, life is not a race.
