its a mastercard so its probably a run of the mill credit card. the store is probably one of the last big retail stores, like sears, that is still operating. i haven't been to one in a long time, there's outlet stores just a block away that has better prices on clothing brands i do wear. lately they seem to have better styles so i went and was convinced by the sweet old cashier lady to apply for the card for a discount. even unemployed i can pay that off next month no problem.

time is money, but time is also risk. so long dated bonds usually have to offer appropriately higher yields. hence the typical yield 'curve'

when that curve inverts, with higher yields at shorter maturities, there are two possible explanations:
1. the fed and treasury are manipulating it, which they are. we wouldn't have been at ZIRP in the past or presently 5.5% without it.
2. there are enough buyers of bonds for shorter durations to push yields down temporarily.

Both have deeper possibilities. for what reasons are the fed/treasury manipulating interest rates? What risk off event are secondary market participants expecting on shorter timescales inducing them to buy short dated bonds?

Historically when the curve deinverts is when shit starts to get real, but don't make the mistake of thinking that's what causes it--it was already baked into the market because high interest rates and inverted yield curve has a 18-36 month lag on cooling the economy. no loans, no spending, no revenue, less investment, less hiring, on repeat until perception changes or the fed/treasury/government steps in to backstop the bleeding.

in any case we're like 18 months into the hike cycle, so just starting to feel the first hike from last year. like clockwork real pain will start to be felt in 3-6 months through deinversion. but you are a smart little pepo and you will know that it was already written in the stars due to rate hikes.

If Apple beats, you can rest assured we are gigapumping as that signals a strong consumer.

The FUD begins....

The lawsuit was brought by British consumer champion Justin Gutmann on behalf of around 24 million iPhone users in the United Kingdom. Gutmann is seeking damages from Apple on their behalf of up to 1.6 billion pounds ($1.9 billion) plus interest, with the claim's midpoint range being 853 million pounds. His lawyers argued Apple concealed issues with batteries in certain phone models by "throttling" them with software updates and installed a power management tool which limited performance.

Apple, however, said the lawsuit was "baseless" and strongly denied batteries in iPhones were defective, apart from in a small number of iPhone 6s models for which it offered free battery replacements. The company sought to get the case thrown out of court, but the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) said Gutmann's case can proceed in a written ruling on Wednesday.

Exactly, and this is why inflation is overall bullish for stocks. Price gouging inevitably takes hold and they will fight tooth and nail to keep the new higher prices.
Margins are improving while total number of sales has kind of stagnated, meaning they keep charging more and more. Plus company profits have risen faster than wage growth.

https://www.npr.org/2021/11/29/1059861668/why-americans-buy-so-much-stuff

>It really happens during the 1930s that there is a recognition that the way to get us out of the Depression most effectively would be to prime the pump, to actually put money in people's pockets. And, of course, the war comes. And most historians agree that it was the war that got us out of the Great Depression. People are earning money, but they can't spend it in the ways that they might have because of the price controls of World War II. And so during the war itself, there is a consensus that emerges that the solution to the postwar economy would be to create an economy that is based on mass consumption. So prosperity will be achieved through people purchasing lots of goods.

Well, that does describe the US pretty damn well. We saw that in the absolutely brutal GDP figures which were supported by a very strong consumer. Cultivate a sense of consoomerism and you can create a forever-growing economy where you keep injecting money.
I still have my 10y old smartphone (weirdly enough the OLED screen has no burn in) and I buy a new laptop every 8-10 years. My food expenses are around 150 bucks per month and I do serious weightlifting.
You can't base an economy on a person like me. Businesses would collapse. So yeah, watch the consumer's habits and you can easily deduce the economy's/market's well-being.

Inflation is already stagnating since the y/y is over and done with (we have passed the peak a long time ago). Wage growth/inflation is now on the table. That will probably create an evil circle since that will "force" (read: allow) companies to hike prices... and so on.
Yes, I do believe inflation will get worse before it gets better but I could be wrong as well.
Oil and gas getting "cheaper" kind of off-sets this though.

I just want my used computer to arrive that I paid 118 Euros for with a graphics card that is being sold for +60-100 Euros on ebay, so that I can play Fortnite with my nephew without fear of toasting my PC as my old pc with i5-4460s SHITprocessor died.

The inevitable gigapump of long term rates will crash the economy. When the thousands of marginal mid and small cap corporations have to start rolling debt over with higher rates their shitty zero rate dependent business models will implode. The cascade of bankruptcies will put millions out of work killing consumption. With consumption being the bedrock of the US economy, deep recession is assured. Expect double digit unemployment. Soon after, inflation is "defeated", rates go back to zero and the cycle starts again

The "fear and greed index" currently at 27, is propped up by one single indicator that reads "greed" while all others are in "fear" territory.
Looking closely, this indicator doesn't seem to be as good news as it seems.
The yield difference between "investment grade" and "junk bonds" is at a low, what does it mean?

I am kind of expecting the debt to fugg smaller caps but the mega caps and large caps are fine for another decade. But I just want my big Santa rally so I can sell bigly and then buy as the lag effect of rates start hitting the market/economy next year

>Japan has all the pieces they need to assemble ICBMs in the span of a few days. It's an open secret that one of the main reasons for their space program is to be a cover for developing nuclear missile technology
If they have any problem with the missiles they can just call us, we'll be glad to help. Under the cover of Arianespace and other european programs we have delevoped all we need.

Bond investors don't believe companies with shitty credit are at particularly high risk of default right now. Bullish

Long insurance, short finance and home builders.
Wait until 2024 to buy a house, live out of a vehicle or your parent's house until then if you can get away with it.
