I finally dug into the truth of Xahau and XRPL mainnet
Truth is Ripple refuses to allow smart contracts on the XRPL because it’s designed to be an efficient payments ledger. SC would clog the network, increase fees and decrease TPS.
Xahau is not anti XRP, Xahau was created because Ripple told them to go do it on their own using burn to mind and sidechains, and they understood that the XRPLs primary purpose is liquidity and payments.
Xahau is basically a very autistic overreaction and is essentially a test net for smart contracts. If it works, it will be implemented into the XRPL, if it doesn’t, then it will die.
Even if it does work out, if it’s implemented into the XRPL it will probably be kept as a test net for SC development, or it will just die out. It’s essentially just a very high risk trial for the SC on the XRPL.
That being said, everyone behind Xahau is also still on the XRPL and no they aren’t vetoing AMM, they’re all still reviewing it.

xlm is a fork of xrp, with smart contracts.
What purpose or advantage does Xahau have that xlm isn't already doing?

I've heard as Hooks are implemented on a side chain it doesn't slow the XRPL network down as much as Stellar's implementation. They've also made some compromises on smart contract functionality, i.e. you can program behaviour but not to the same extent and complexity of XLM or ETH.
