starting your investment journey, especially when you're in all cash, is probably the hardest part of it all. i've been a passive index investor for the last 15 years, and one thing i've learned is that having a plan is important. not because the plan will be the most optimal outcome, but because your can live with your decisions once you've mapped out your strategy.

for example, if i had $10k and wanted to get into investing, a someone moderate plan may be to invest $800 a month over the next 12 months, assuming i had additional income coming in. if the market goes up, then cool i got lucky and timed it well. if it goes down, i can look forward to buying at cheaper prices with every future purchase.

anyways this is basic shit after awhile but figured i'd mention what helps me. i'm ~25% short term bonds at the moment.

I was a passive index investor before but I sold after the covid rebound happened (thinking the world was going to end) then fucked around with meme stock and crypto until I decided to try stocks again but of course with stupid ass meme choices (options, leveraged ETFs, etc.). FINALLY, after getting bitch slapped hard and fast I realize the only money I ever made was via passive index investing and I was a fool for chasing moonshots. I went down the wrong path clearly and I have paid for it financially but that is life.

>for example, if i had $10k and wanted to get into investing, a someone moderate plan may be to invest $800 a month over the next 12 months, assuming i had additional income coming in. if the market goes up, then cool i got lucky and timed it well. if it goes down, i can look forward to buying at cheaper prices with every future purchase.

I guess if I start now and shit tanks it just means I get the opportunity to slurp more. A 30% "correction" is minor compared to some of the money I have lost. And if the stock market crashes like 1929 and I lose all my money then it was worthless anyway.

Anyway I am sure anons will make fun of me but it is what it is.

(Some studies show that putting your money in as soon as possible is better but I know my psychology would be upside down if I did that and it crashed tomorrow.)

The 1929 crash was pretty bad but even that wasn't as bad as it looks. Considering deflation prices had recovered by around 1935 and the average dividend back then was over 10% so prices weren't everything.

Most important thing is to remember rule #1 of stocks: prices are volatile. Never put money in stocks that you expect to need in 1-2 years.

Some old liberal ladies at the Panera bread here where all making fun of the Republicans the last time they were electing the speaker of the house and I couldn't help myself and told them that the mandate many of the representatives involved had from their electorate was effectively to do nothing (or as little as possible) and so they were doing exactly what they were supposed to.
I honestly couldn't tell if the "leader's" response was sarcastic or not but I was leaving anyway.

Best advice; It's a big ass joke. Congress says "The debt, the debt, we must stop the debt" but then goes "oh poor Ukraine, poor Israel we must give them money". Which yeah it's sad whats going on in those places don't get me wrong but last time I checked that whole part of the world has other countries that can step up and help to.

It's also completely beside the point. Just picture on this graph what another 50 or 100 billion for hospital levelling JDAMs really adds up to. Approximately fuck all.

The deficit only gets fixed with rate cuts, a national debt heemed by inflation, obscene economic growth, recession-triggering tax hikes, or spending cuts so politically suicidal you'd only get votes from emo congressmen.

https://oilprice.com/Alternative-Energy/Wind-Power/Dutch-Energy-Minister-Admits-That-Wind-Power-Agenda-Is-Pricier-Than-Anticipated.html
>Reality has returned to the European offshore wind sector, bringing financial challenges to the forefront. These challenges are not solely due to higher interest rates but are increasingly driven by supply chain constraints, Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) issues, and investor caution. In a surprising announcement, Dutch Minister of Climate and Energy, Rob Jetten, has informed the market, government, and parliament that the costs of offshore wind projects in the North Sea will be significantly higher than previously assessed. Minister Jetten, a member of the left-wing liberal democrat D66 party, has also indicated that consumers should expect substantially higher electricity prices than initially anticipated.
>This news has come as a shock to mainstream political parties and renewable energy sector operators. They had been advocating offshore wind and other renewables not only as a means of addressing climate change but also as a progressively cost-effective alternative.
>The increased costs are not primarily linked to global market developments but rather to the extra €10 billion required for connecting offshore wind farms at sea to onshore infrastructure. The Dutch state-owned company, TenneT, now faces higher financial burdens and increased risks. Previous assessments of TenneT's plans indicated financing needs of approximately €2 billion per year for the next several decades. However, new assessments reveal investment requirements of €3.6 billion per year, equivalent to €0.04 per kWh. In reality, these costs will ultimately be passed on to consumers through net tariffs, the fees for the delivery or transport of energy. The average Dutch household consumes 2,800 kWh per year.

Energy supply has such low pe ratios because we're totally switching to wind and solar generation for primary grid concerns. Totally. Spot prices for the commodities are double what their breakeven cost is so these companies have good cashflow. The only issue is undercapitalization because of some historic ESG policies that sought to punish them.

Why AMD and not NVDA? NVDA ain't bleeding cash and is grabbing more and more market share. And significantly ahead in AI. But I digress. AMD's earnings were dog shit and I can't really see their earnings improving anytime soon. But then again the market doesn't care about but only cares if they can beat "expectations". Throw in some catchy AI and you have another bull run.
The graph of AMD still looks kinda bullish in my opinion and even though I think the company is insanely overvalued (hell, an offal kiosk makes more money), we are soon entering the two most bullish months and a Santa rally.
Given that you haven't sold yet, I would keep holding. As long as FED is maintaining the markets and injecting liquidity, I would keep holding stocks since that's the best way to hedge against inflation.
If yields go to 5.5-6%, then I might consider them.

Are you a better investor than Burt Reynolds?
>By his own estimation, at the peak of his career Burt's net worth topped $60 million. That's $60 million after taxes in the 1980s. That's the same as around $150 million today after adjusting for inflation," the site reports.
>The man was living large, and thanks to his hit projects and endorsement deals, he was bringing home a ton of money on a regular basis.
>Reynolds not only made a ton of money, but he also spent it, too. The man was larger than life, both in front of the cameras, and at home with his riches.
>$60 million is an incredible amount of money for any person to have, but as we will soon learn, this number dropped considerably over time.
>"He didn't just buy one mansion in Beverly Hills, he bought several. He built a massive water-front estate in Florida. He bought a 160-acre ranch, also in Florida, where he kept a stable of 150 horses. He bought a mansion in Georgia. He had a private jet and a helicopter to take him back and forth to the private jet. When he married actress Loni Anderson in 1988, he didn't just move them into one of the mansions he already owned in Beverly Hills, he bought an entirely new mansion for them to live in," Celebrity Net Worth writes.
>Not only was the actor shelling out a fortune for his lifestyle, but he also sank money into business ventures that failed. At one point, Burt and his partner's decisions "turned it into a $20-30 million loss," per the site.
>Reynolds would also foolishly borrow millions for a show with the hope of cashing in once it reached syndication. It didn't.
>Throw in a massive divorce, and suddenly, it's easy to see why Reynolds was reeling financially in the 1990s. In his bankruptcy filing, Reynolds owed over $11 million total, with nearly $4 million owed to CBS for his ill-fated show that never hit syndication.

I filled up my car with fuel when the first news of the Hamas situation appeared. But since then, the price at the fuel stations in Germany has been steady, trending slowly downward. So far it has no effect on our economy.

It's more of how long it high for as most debt is fixed and takes time to roll over at higher rates. The treasury filled up the TGA fast and hard, so soon interest payments % of GDP is making ATH, but no one at congress seems to care.
Now we are sending way more money to Moloch than before.

Can someone please explain the Monte Carlo Method/Simulation to me like im 5,

is this all it takes to make good money? Im new as fuck to trading and i need to make it.

>> No.56392162

>>56392061
it simulates all these different outcomes

>The Monte Carlo simulation is a mathematical technique that predicts possible outcomes of an uncertain event. Computer programs use this method to analyze past data and predict a range of future outcomes based on a choice of action. For example, if you want to estimate the first month’s sales of a new product, you can give the Monte Carlo simulation program your historical sales data. The program will estimate different sales values based on factors such as general market conditions, product price, and advertising budget.

https://aws.amazon.com/what-is/monte-carlo-simulation/

you put in historical stock market data, and it can generate future outcomes
