I honestly don't know what happened. Last year, I had people, when I was fresh out of college, offering me jobs in the US, my country and what not and now I don't even have any chance at Junior or entry roles anymore. Wtf is this current job market honestly? I am still employed by the same employer that I started at after college ( I initially had a Fortune 500 company as an extra occupational study firm so I have more than 4 years of professional exp., yet I was more valued after 2.5 years than now, I just have ZERO chances at jobs. Anyone else seeing similar developments? I'm in IT btw and my particular job sucks

Don't take me too seriously, I'm just doomerposting to cope. Spent the last year doing the "learn2code" meme and once I finally starting applying to jobs the market went tits up and every entry-level/intern position now has 400-1000+ applicants on LinkedIn (many of them likely having CS degrees or being experienced SWEs that got laid off by other companies). Gave up and now I'm stuck in my old job in a place I despise. Feels bad having invested so much effort into something just to realize it was a massive waste of time and energy. Probably for the best though, as tech culture is pretty cancerous and full of pseudo-intellectual fags that desperately need to be clubbed repeatedly with vigor.

I feel you anon and it s good to see someone else Sharing this pain bcs im so tired customizing my applications only to be rejected not even 24 hours later by the same words. It is honestly so frustrating and messes with me as a person too.

Basically they forced all the cattle back into the workforce to survive. The reason the board is dead and many others as well is because everybody is busy waging nowadays to survive. There are no more opportunities like 10 years ago and the days of easy money are gone. The only people making easy money is some specialized wagies in certain fields, especially during the Work From Home era.

What you guys need to realize is the number of applications doesn't fucking matter. 95-99% of all of those applications are people who are horrifically underqualified. Hell, a lot of them are probably bots soliciting information. They are like the clickbait videos of job applicants, a dime a dozen. This is why employers use automated filtering systems before a human even sees your resume, to filter through the steaming heaps of spammed shit that is thrown their way.

Make a burner email and then go and post about some "opportunity" to make money literally anywhere online, linked to the email, and watch how quickly that inbox fills with trash. That's the current state of the job market and has been since online hiring became a de facto standard.

The secret is to get your resume sifted out of that pile of shit somehow.

Minimum wage is apparently like $17 an hour now. I hear it all the time. Busboys making $17/hr before tips. Cashiers starting at $17. The front desk workers at planet fitness start at $21/hr. Literal restaurant wagies are making 6 figures on average. If you have skills, your wages are stagnant though. People who were making good money before are not getting raises, it's just the bottom feeders. I'm seriously considering leaving my career to work at a grocery store or home depot. Why wages doubled for the lowest income wagies but remained the same for people with degrees will never be understood.

Heh you sound like me. I make these posts regarding gamedev in /agdg/ on /vg/. 10 years ago making a video game if a certain quality would likely guarentee success. The same can no longer be said. Very depressing as I wanted to make games since I was a kid, didn't take up the opportunity until it was already the end of the easy money. Now gamedev is swamped with tons of people many of which seem quite talented which raises the bar.

I have a friend with a terrible female manager. From the looks of it she poorly trains while also expecting the employees to know everything. Seems to demand he acts in certain ways and how its all about professionalism while she acts the complete opposite. She's super toxic too and somehow upper management is unaware. She is definitely aware of what she's doing too. Doesnt suprise me that there is such high turnover for a good office job. A hypocritcal toxic piece of shit that pushes people into quitting or if thry dont she fires them to remove the threat of bring surpassed and "take her job"

Very unfortunate circumstances since I know how this stuff goes. Youre left utterly helpless and cant do a thing but await either getting fired or finding a new job cause upper management is obviously not gonna do anything. Does irk me that he doesnt keep a record off all the stuff she does since it feels like a goldmine for a lawyer to pull a six figure sum and importantly, it results in her getting fired and having her reputation tarnished openly. Its not evem about the money. Ive experienced these types myself and it pisses me off to no end that they get away with this shit while reprimanding subordinates for the slightest of things

Seems anything higher than minimum wage jobs are having their pay stagnated. Why even work these harder jobs for only a few dollars more? Its like taking the supervisor position at the grocery store, a ton more responsiblity for $1 more in pay. No thanks. Iirc a few of my friends have also noticed this.

I would highly recommend you all lie on your resumes. Ever since I said I have multiple years of experience in a management position i've been getting more interviews for supervisory roles. Although I did cancel my first interview, and exited the video call on the second one because I was to buzzed to think because I thought drinking beforehand would make me a smooth talker, my 3rd interview which was over the phone went a lot better, but alas I realized I made a mistake of telling the interviewer that I worked at a company before it even existed (made some mistakes when writing up my fake resume). Nevertheless, I am confident that I will land a job i'm unqualified for and will continue applying to jobs with my newly updated resume.

To all the USbros here, have you considered working in the EU? Netherlands, Belgium, Scandinavia, and so on offer pretty good jobs for English speaking individuals. I can't German yet I've landed a job in Belgium and later in Netherlands in battery research and I had only a "lab assistant" position in my CV.
