I bought a 2007 honda crv and though it didn't have the problem during test drive, it started having the same vibration issue you guys have described an hour into my trip home but I bought it off of CL for 6k so I couldn't return it. The car has 120k miles on it and several mechanics have not been able to solve the problem, so here I am a year later minus another $1500 with a car that I don't drive because it doesn't feel safe. I would like to try shutter fix, do I need to change the transmission fluid before adding it?

I got mine for 1500 2 years ago, its cost more in repairs however. Luckily I have a friend in a garage, but this thing breaks so often Ive eaten up all my free help.

I make 6 figs and still wouldn't spend anywhere close to that much on a car. I'll just keep driving my $1k shitbox into the ground, it still gets me from A to B and I probably don't sink more than $300-400 a year into oil changes/maintenance and other repairs, most of which I do myself. And at this point I'm losing basically nothing to depreciation. Meanwhile, the person driving the $50k new car is losing 10x that a year to depreciation alone even if they do have a warranty and any maintenance/repairs are covered by the dealership. Then all the interest on their car note on top of that.

Calipers are several hundred dollars each along with the core charge, and then the work. Replacing 4 of them is like 1200$.
A fuel tank normally requires a full drop down and the repair is normally 1500-2000$ in a dealership, less obviously in a normal place, and it all boils down to work which means normally youre fucked because you cant just find a cheap used part. Luckily I had a friend sit on it for literally a month, before spending multiple days diagnosing where the leak was coming from, after having pulled the back seats out to get to a port and luckily it was a top leak in a small section of tube. He had to smack it around to find out where it was even leaking, then he did the full on repair and future-proofing maintenance so it would never break ever again. Hes good. Truth be told I paid 100$, because Im broke and hes helping me. In reality though the time spent going where the fuck is this leak coming from is 50-80 dollars an hour for a normal person who doesnt have someone hes known since childhood that owns a garage.
The torque converter has a 90 minute transmission dropdown speedrun video, not including repair and re-assembly. Yes thats like a 1000$ job including parts.

Shop markup on parts is such a ripoff. Calipers for my car on RockAuto are like $60/ea for the front, and $70/ea for the rear. Remanufactured calipers are 1/2 that. And granted this is a midsize sedan so probably not as big and expensive of brakes/calipers as a large sedan or SUV/pickup, but still. Shops get all pissy when you do, but if I was broke and paying somebody else for auto repairs, I'd make sure they accept customer parts and then bring them in myself.
