I hate how stupid I am.
I just cannot understand bonds for the life of me.
What do these bullet points mean?

Bonds are fixed income securities offered by the government let's say I buy a bond at 2% interest per annum, and lets say tomorrow there is less buyers for bonds and the government offers a higher interest rate of 4% to attract buyers. This makes my bond worse less on the secondary market because it has a 2% coupon rate and you can get a 4% coupon rate on the primary market. Which means bonds and interest rates are inversely corelated, If you buy a bond at 4% and there is more demand for bonds than there is bonds the government will lover the coupon rate lets say to 2%, now your bond is worth more on the secondary market because you can only get a 2% coupon rate on the primary market.

>I think it's actually pretty impressive that you guys simply cannot explain what he's asking about in a concise manner
because for anyone who has lurked for more than 5 minutes, these are very basic topics, where for this anon it would be better to just do simple google searches or use chat GPT to ask, than to come here and ask to be spoonfed
it's why we have OP guides
to give you an analogy that you would understand, it's like someone going on /fit/ and asking "Wait so I need to consume protein to gain muscle?"
that post would be equally mocked and derided
To spoon feed answer the question of the anon, because fuck you, that's why
>What plummeted 46%? The "bond" itself? What does that mean?
You need to understand what a bond is. A bond is a piece of paper, that is an IOU slip
for example
I want to borrow $90 - you write on a piece of paper "anon owes me $100 in 1 year" - you keep this piece of paper, the IOU slip - the bond. In one year, anon pays you $100 - you make $10 interest on the IOU piece of paper. However, a month from now, you decide that you actually want the money now - you can't wait a year. You still have the IOU slip saying that "anon will pay me $100 in 11 months" - you go and sell that IOU piece of paper to someone else. However, now the person who buys the piece of paper from you is paying $48.60
in other words, the price/value of the piece of paper fell from $90 to $48.60, a drop of 46%
the price of the bond fell 46%, from $90 to $48.60
The person who now buys the bond for $48.60 is still receiving $100 in (now) 11 months, so they're paying $48.60 to receive $51.40 in interest - while the price of the bond fell, the interest went up
Now that you understand this, you can understand every part of this article

>But apart from this contemporary mood, the ideas of economists and political philosophers, both when they are right and when they are wrong, are more powerful than is commonly understood. Indeed the world is ruled by little else. Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influences, are usually the slaves of some defunct economist. Madmen in authority, who hear voices in the air, are distilling their frenzy from some academic scribbler of a few years back. I am sure that the power of vested interests is vastly exaggerated compared with the gradual encroachment of ideas. Not, indeed, immediately, but after a certain interval; for in the field of economic and political philosophy there are not many who are influenced by new theories after they are twenty-five or thirty years of age, so that the ideas which civil servants and politicians and even agitators apply to current events are not likely to be the newest. But, soon or late, it is ideas, not vested interests, which are dangerous for good or evil.

Bonds pay a fixed dollar value return. If I buy a bond, I know in advance what it will pay me over time. The only thing that varies is my up-front premium for the bond. The more I pay up-front, the less I make overall from the bond.

High demand for bonds = people will pay higher prices = they return less over all. (The overall return is what people mean by yield.)

So when there's low demand for bonds, the effective yield will be higher.

That's the main thing to get down. From there, you can start to reason what would cause demand for bonds to increase or decrease and how those fluctuations are largely determined by expected interest rates and expected yields of other instruments like stocks.

83 could be great, I wish you good luck. I’m just warning you, these kleptocrats are crazy and politics are the black swan that can fuck you hard. Taiwan invasion or tech nationalization would wipe you out. I don’t think that will happen but I didn’t think any of this would happen.

There is just so much dishonesty at this point I don’t think it matters. If I could buy 100 year puts on China I’d go hard but short term 20 years) anything could happen.

Yeah i don't think it will happen too there's too much talk about it with Russia-Ukraine it just happened no talk no nothing. But for sure it's possible. That's why I'm probably going to open accounts with brokers in Asia for further investments in Asia. It's just the contrarian in me the capital flight from China has made for very attractive valuations. Who knows i might lose it all time will tell. Cheers good luck with future investments hope Polymetal management doesn't fuck over shareholders.

The problem is that the whole fucking industry talks about bonds in a positive or negative light (up/down essentially) without ever stating the CONTEXT of this move, i.e. the yield or the dollar value. Most times they’re referring to dollar value, but then niggers will inevitably switch context to yield here or there without being explicit about it and just often enough to keep the average reader perplexed and cause they to just throw their hands up

>places where price is contested is general a place that is support or resistance. Did it go past? If yes and holds for a timeframe (relative to your risk acceptance) you go long. Did it not go past ? Do nothing... await the next interface between your lines and the stocks price.

Keep doing it until you predict the nodes regularly. Different stocks and indices move different. I only trade spy, uvyx and tqqq

>> No.56293584

Blind short (spy) into tomorrow but no charts of my own plays. Prolly 2-3$ ITM and expirty between 10/16-20. The dead fish won't float that long.
