They’ve fucking done it. The bastards have done it. The federal reserve has fulfilled its mandate once again, and curbed inflation. The soft landing was joked about, but the market has almost in unison declared victory for the dollar. We’re back to status quo and it was fucking lightning fast. I’m not sure there is anyway to beat modern monetary policy. I’m completely stonkered. I can’t believe they did it.

>These years will have numismatic value.

That's what everyone thought when the 1964 Kennedy half was released so they got hoarded by everyone. Yeah of course the Maples and Britannias will be worth more than rounds, but every mouthbreathing stacker on earth was abuzz about the speculative numismatic prospects of the last Lizzies and first Chucks, so like the Kennedy halves they've been hoarded in numbers far beyond any likely future demand and thus won't really see the outsized gains those mouthbreathers expect. I'm not saying they're a bad buy or won't appreciate, but no one will be retiring off of their future numismatic premiums.

You pay a premium for a ticket that gives you the right to either buy (call) / or sell (put) at the time and price listed on the ticket you purchased. Everyone purchased tickets for a low premium for the right to sell silver at a later date at high price. If the consumer market stands to profit significantly off of any move, the price must be manipulated in order to strip that from the consumer and give to the banks, which have the exclusive right to infinite amounts of capitol to do whatever they want to the market. This is what is known as free market capitalism.

You need to have an extremely good sense for the specific collectibles, the overall market and generational demographic effects to profitably "go long". If adults are hoarding Barbie dolls in boxes or Longaberger baskets then you won't make money doing the same thing, because when they die their collections will flood the market. If however you saw what a sensation something like Pokemon cards Tamagotchis would be and bought those early and sought out rare limited edition versions then kept them mint in box/pack for 20+ years until the kids who loved them grew up and had good jobs to pay for nostalgia you would have made good money. It's a lot more straightforward and predictable to flip unrecognized gems you buy cheap.

>> No.56260814

>>56260375
Call = The right, but not obligation, to buy X at Y price by Z date
Put = The right, but not obligation, to sell X at Y price by Z date

So instead of buying the underlying, you buy the OPTION to buy the underlying.

So if some stonk is trading at $100 today, and you think by December 2024 it will go up to $180, you could either buy the stock outright (lets assume 100 shares, or $10000) and then sell it for $18000 (assuming you are right), making an 80% profit, OR, you buy the OPTION to buy it for $100 instead, lets say that cost $15/share. So you pay $1500 (for 100 shares worth) for the option itself. Then you are right and it goes to $180. You can then buy 100 shares for $100 ($10000) and sell immediately for $180 ($18000), netting $8000. Minus the $1500 you paid up front for the option, you end up with a profit of $6500. In other words, you turned $1500 into $6500, a profit of 333%.

It's a way to increase leverage. The downside? Well, what if you are wrong and the stock actually goes down to $90 by time it expires? Now your option is WORTHLESS. Because why would you want to exercise your right to buy for $100, if the open market has it for $90? The option is now worth $0, a 100% loss. But if you had the stock instead, you would be down just 10% - and no time limit on it going back up.

Options are a way of leveraged gambling. Though you can play the other side as well and be the one selling options instead of buying.

Can you explain this kikery in more detail? Are you saying that you can't place an options order because the stock price is being manipulated in real time to override the margin on your order? If so, how much fuckin stock are your options for? I can't imagine they would do that unless it like 1% or more of the available stock or you have a massive following with your trades or something.

Oh so you're saying that if they see retail options going one way, they simply refuse to fill those orders and adjust the price to enrich their own positions? If so, I figured that goes on. i had a limit for whatever amount of et shares at 13.75 (days range has been 13.67-14.05). the price was at 13.68. refresh ticker page right after submitting order. price is now 13.71. it sits between 13.71 and 13.70 for 20 minutes. despite hitting 13.70 20 or more times in that period of time, i filled 0 shares. i moved the order up to 13.80. refresh the page. the price is now 13.81 - 13.80. it again hits off of 13.80 20 times or so without filling a single share. move the limit to 13.65, refresh the page, and the price is now 13.69. can't say for sure without seeing the code, but it sure feels like there is some preference given to non-retail orders. it didn't used to be like this 3-4 years ago.

There was a good youtube video about some shysters who created a video game "rating agency" and who authenticate and grade vintage video games still in the boxes. The only problem is the same guys who set up that company were also operating the ebay store and unloading $100 video game for like $5000 because some putz is dumb enough to slurp it up. So essentially all of the collector value and appreciation has happened and there is no telling whether the market for those things will collapse or not.
Invest in collectibles at your own risk. Much of the value for these things is propped up by the unsustainable economic system that gives Americans an ungodly amount of purchasing power on the world market. That depends. If you are the type of person that buys Buffalo rounds, then yes they are all the same. If you have above a 4th grade education then the differences are vast.

Easy answer is to look for Engelhard, USVI, California Crown Mint, Johnson Matthey, Hoffman and Hoffman, Cascade Refining, Bache and the list goes on. If the bar looks like it was made in the 1980's or earlier, there's probably a collector that would pay $300 or $400 for it.

Those are the main ones you can sometimes get for sound the same price as something like an Asahi or Buffalo round. Stop buying goldbacks. If you save up money each month you will almost have enough to buy 1/2 ounce of gold. Always favor gold over silver. I know it gives everybody a great dopamine fix because they can buy more silver more frequently but it will under perform compared to gold. This is a very unpopular opinion around here but it's a fact not a prediction. >but the argument is wether I should have more wealth overall with the less premiums in silver rounds/coins vs the high premiums of fraction coins
You're are indirectly asking if gold is going increase in value more than silver during the great happening. You're asking somebody to predict the future and I am happy to do that for you. Gold will experience a greater % increase in value than silver and the premiums you pay on fractional gold will look insignificant to you when the great happening occurs. If you don't agree then stack both silver and gold. The only wrong way to go about stacking is creating a financial situation for yourself where you are forced to liquidate your metals due to unforeseen circumstances. Food, water, emergency cash should always be a consideration in your stacking journey.

You sound sensible, fren. No need to be stressed. The market stresses me out but holding metals makes me feel better. It's easier for me to believe in the long term value of PMs than the stock market and all that stuff. The reason a lot of people like silver because of the widespread belief amongst stackers that it is undervalued in addition to the fact that it has many industrial uses. The gold people, I dunno, I think a large part of that is elitism, I myself own both.

Thank you anon. I currently hold 50oz silver, it is a good feeling to know that it's mine. I feel like silver does definitely have value for it's industrial use, and I feel like when fiat collapses it will be used to buy small shit. I do get an elitist vibe from goldchads, but does it not also have industrial value?
I've been advised to hold gold and silver at a ratio of 1/100. What do you think about this?

Buy whatever you like, mate. Just make sure to exchange some of your worthless fiat for hard assets while there's cheapies. Take your time to think about what to buy, but don't wait forever or the cheapies will be gone. Some dips last weeks (last fall) and some are much shorter (this past March).
Pic is from May. Now the wieners are 22.94 euros. I bought a monster box of them in July for 23.53 euros/oz. Prices move, we don't know how much or when exactly.

You have to decide how much you're willing to pay, i.e. what you think the metal is worth. For me it's like this:
I buy silver if I can get it under 24 euros/oz
I buy gold if I can get it under 1800 euros/oz
Lower prices are always better, of course. But I don't feel bad paying up to those prices for common (non collectible) coins.
For collectible coins, I try to stay under 35 euros/oz, but I'll go a little higher (under 40) if it's something I really want. I paid 39 for an 2019 kookaburra. It was a bit too much in retrospect, because I found the same coin with a privy mark later for much less (so I bought it also).
