Being poor is a state of mind. The main thing I've noticed about poor people is how they spend money, or rather, how they interpret the meaning of "afford".
For a normal, financially intelligent person, the word "afford" means "this is within the limits of my budget". To a poor person, the word "afford" means "I have the money to buy this".
to give you an example, a poor person who has just received their paycheck might look at something that costs $200 dollars and think "yeah I can afford that. I just got paid." with no thought put into better uses for their money.

I grew up in a poor household so I know it all too well. My mom was the kind of person who would have cable TV hooked up, only to have it disconnected shortly after, because she had the money to pay for the hookup fees and the first month, but not enough money to keep paying for it. One of my friends in highschool was also poor, and his family took him out on a vacation trip for his 18th birthday. How did they pay for this? They used their rent money. Two months later they were being evicted and looking for a new place to live. A poor person will spend all of their money on shit they don't need, then complain to people shortly after that they barely have enough money to pay their bills. They will buy junkfood, sweets, and hot deli food then post on social media about how their grocery bill was 70$ dollars "for two bags of groceries", blaming inflation as the cause.

Poor people are stupid and don't think about the future. If a poor person had $100 in their hand and saw something for $100 right in front of them they would buy it without a second thought.

There is a wide range of what poors think of as "rich" and they are all treated the same.
I am easily "worth" five million and my wife is a neurologist. Zero debt at all.
She shops at TJ Maxx. I have, as mentioned above, my clothes bought for me.
We are not "rich". We are perfectly well off and I doubt more money can improve my life at this point.
