Where can I go to discuss bullion without americans ruining everything?
I'm sick of these chuds with their gun in the stack pic talking shit about any coin that isn't american, telling europeans to buy silver eagles, misusing terminology like "sovereigns", posting their shitty gold chains, silver bars with trump/a subreddit stamped onto it and just generally being insufferable

>>56215721
>Is this how all of you feel all the time?
Nah, as for first P+V, or everything else really, the first time feels very special, something you remember your entire life. The first time you held real money in your hands. It took you by surprise, didn't it?

But as your stack grows, you feel more jaded, even if opening a package containing precious metals always feels nice.
What will also change from now on is you'll progressively feel always more disgusted being in contact with paper "money". You'll find (((movies))) plots where protagonists kill each others over a case full of fucking paper utterly ridiculous. Or baboons making it rain in their braindead zombie "music" clips, as if it could trigger envy. You'll just feel bad for the npcs still matrixed by the illusory perceived value of debt vouchers in general.

The worst is maybe some autistic Anon who doesn't like one of you posts has a database of serial $s posted by Anons who have offended him, and coincidentally finds you selling a tracked bar on ebay and buying it to dox you.

I have some aspron/billon trachys but they're pretty weird coins, they're a distinct numismatic curiosity but I've never found them attractive or appealing, and at less than 1000 years old they're practically still babbys so not too interesting either. I do like the earlier Byzantine coins struck under Anastasius, Justin I, and Justinian The Great, especially the big bronze "Follis" denomination coins, and would recommend you also look for 5th-6th century coins if you want some Byzantine pieces you'll actually enjoy.

Crazy how far a civilization can decline... while they were able to do x100 more beautiful things a millenia earlier. Probably the demography changed too.
Really reminescent of what is happening to our art (and coins), with all the talentless kikes grifting their way in our museums with their playdoh vomit, when we used to have the greatest masters centuries ago.

Hello frogbro, yeah that's exorbitant, you can buy trachys all day long for under $15 each because there isn't much demand for the things. Maybe wait for a nice cheap one (and only one) to have as an example, but even though mine were all dirt cheap I kinda regret getting them.

If you want an *extra* goofy coin, here is an ~18 gram bronze imitation of a Constantinople mint Anastasius Follis, I believe made by some flavor of Gothic or eastern Germanic Gepid tribe in the early 500s during the migration period. It's one of the most crazy barbarous imitative coins I've seen up for auction so I paid decent money for it (still less than that lame 70€ trachy and much less than its value of course). I get great joy and intellectual stimulation from fondling and contemplating this relic of the mysterious "dark-age" migration period. I could smash all my trachys with a hammer and send them to the refinery for melting and feel far less pain than I would if merely dropped this Gothic/Gepidic imitative follis and put a little ding on its rim. You want to go for coins that are truly meaningful and interesting to you my fren, it's always better to have 1 fascinating $100 coin than 10 boring niggardly $10 coins, you'll never regret aiming for quality over quantity.

Money printed infinitely = worthless trash
Gold = limited resource = inherently valuable
Precious metals retain their value across history while countless economies have collapsed
With this knowledge your options are:
Wait for the dollar to expire and loose everything, or transfer your wealth to something inherently valuable that also does very well during financial crises, which can be bartered for anything including all currencies across the entire world through all of history

Usually a full ring. It doubles as padding to make the round fit snugly. Some coins fit snugly anyway (I have both 39 and 41 mm capsule in stock). If it fits snugly, I figure no air will get in anyway, so I don't bother with the paper.

I was looking at pics i took some years ago of a stuffed antique scrapbook I have in storage and realized that it has a Major League baseball ticket stub from 1917 from a game in Chicago which featured Ty Cobb. These sorts of things seem really rare so I can't find any matches online but it judging from other similar tickets it looks like it could be worth upwards of $1000. Where do I go to get something like this evaluated?

Ah OK good, you know what you're doing. One recommendation I can give is that I've seen gluts on the market of otherwise quite rare coins from hoards or big collections and while the market is oversaturated you can get some good deals. I'm not sure what is going on with the pattern coins but if there is an unusually large volume of them then you should probably invest in any that are going unusually cheap, once the glut of patterns dries up prices will eventually rise again.

Asking again if any anons are aware of other early "true" official bullion coins/rounds? I know there were plenty of "trade dollar" type issues but was there anything like my 1949 Mexican Onza? Granted it's .925, but it contains a full troy ounce of fine silver and no denomination so there is no ambiguity about it being bullion. Regardless of weight, did any other countries issue silver bullion pieces before it got more popular in the 1970s?

>> No.56224112

>>56223212
My copypasta:
- For new generic bars, note the premiums (added charges) over spot: they go up for smaller pieces.
- Some beautiful generic items are priced comically high (Germanias, GSM special editions, e.g.). Regardless, dealers may categorize and price these as "generic" (below or at spot) when buying them from you. Or your gamble might pay off if they become highly regarded (Englehard, PAMP, antique miners/refiners, e.g.).
- The firsts of new artful or theme bullion series are often missed by later collectors, who may pay high premiums to fill in gaps. Caution: political or cringeworthy themes are less likely to appreciate.
- Low-mintage series are often priced very high, but may in time increase in value the most.
- Gov't-issued coins cost least during the mint run. Once ended and dealers run out of stock, their prices often jump, then rise a bit faster than generic silver.
- Annual changes to overall designs become series (Somali elephants, Canadian Wildlife, Australian kookaburras or koalas, island nations' series, etc.), adding potential appreciation.
- Maples, Eagles, Wieners, Britannias, etc. are nice and boring, but recognition helps sell to customers more comfortable and confident buying them.
- If you buy pieces that appeal to your sense of art, taste, and interests, you will still appreciate them even if the price or value of the PM goes nowhere. Caveat: if you go to sell, it's harder to let go of them.
- Shipping is an added premium. Many online vendors offer free shipping for purchasing a minimum amount (commonly $200). Your local coin shop has no shipping to charge.
- Vendors may charge extra for using a credit card. That might balance (ebay!) if your card offers cash back.
- Keep all sales receipts and a spreadsheet of your purchases to track profit/loss: it's quite revealing and may help guide future decisions. Example ("PurchaseRecords" tab):

No. High rates are already baked into the price. The only way metals will dump further is if rates go into unexpectedly high territory, which will cause a sovereign debt crisis that destroys the dollar.

The Fed will either have to cut or do stealth bailouts on certain asset classes. The system cannot sustain itself with 7% rates.

These days anyone who even bothers hunting rolls for silver anymore sticks to half dollars. You could try taking up metal detecting as a hobby which is fun albeit not usually lucrative, and if you live in an old area with old stormwater sewer drains which carry rainwater from the streets into nearby creeks or ravines you can sift the gravels around the outflow for old coins and jewelry that fell down street drainage grates and got washed through over the years. I found all this stuff from just 1 storm drain, it's pretty fun but like detecting not typically lucrative.

A good start anon, if you want to hunt pennies I recommend asking your bank to buy the $50 bags of cents from their coin sorting machine. They often don't like providing boxes of rolled pennies because they lose money on them and just have them as a courtesy for their business clients, but buying the bags from their machines actually helps save them money (transportation to coin rolling facilities ain't free) so they'll be much more interested in providing them.

PA would be near the top of my list for places that would be ideal for storm drain sifting. You need a screen and something to scoop gravel into the screen, and a "miners' lamp" flashlight to wear on your head if you feel adventurous and want to go deep inside, but it's pretty easy and low tech.

I see, thanks for the heads up fren. I only paid 10.50€ for this holed one, so i'm in the green no matter what. So basically, around a third to a quarter of the value of a non-messed version.. That's around what i thought it would be grosso modo.

So about my story.. today i sold a coin for close to 300 bux, among others.
I went to the post office to send it with insurance + tracking. The way it work here is you first pay your stamp at the automaton, glue it on the envelop, then go to the cashier where they add their tracking stamp, give you the proof of deposit slip and bip the envelop.

Thing is, they took my envelop, didn't check it nor added the tracking stamp. I was in a rush with many envelops and sadly didn't notice they fucked up because i was filling others slips in the meantime.
Once back home, when i wanted to fill the tracking number on ebay i noticed i didn't have the slip. So i rushed back to the post office, and told them about the mishap. Thankfully i take pics of every stamped envelops before posting them, so the QR code, pricing and receipt were on my phone.

They started to search for the envelop, but it was already gone for the dispatching center. And since they didn't *bip* the stamp nor added any tracking, the thing is basically impossible to find back. I started to REE as they were apologizing. They made some phone calls left and right but no way to find it.

At some point the agency director shows up, i explain to him the situation, and he tells me
>"well, so the issue is the envelop isn't insured nor tracked because the cashier messed up, and you can't provide a deposit proof or a tracking number to ebay?"
>exact
>"OK, i've a solution then : we will send a second envelop to the same address, empty, with a tracking number, insurance and proof of deposit, that we will link to the QR code of the stamp's pic on your phone. Of course we wont charge you for it. You'll add this new tracking n° to ebay. This way you now have a proof of deposit, if the seller claims the first envelop never arrived to him, our system will still show it as delivered."
I was like... wtf man?
>ok but.. what if he really doesn't receive the first envelop and only get the decoy one? Your colleague just explained to me the stamping is invalid and the machine will put it in the "not correctly stamped" category, then either deliver it normally, send it back here, or it will simply get ""lost""
>Well, it's up to you Sir, why would you play it fair if the seller won't? If he claims it arrived, great, if not.. you now are covered.

Those are sworn public agents. The fucking director mounted up a scheme to cover his cashier's mistake and proposed me to potentially scam the buyer with the post office's full consent.
It felt so unreal lol.
Really hope the buyer is honest, will simply wonder why the fuck he received 2 envelops instead of one, and call it a day.. Otherwise i'm fook. Fucking la poste fren, i swear...

Kek WTF man, I've never heard of anything like that. I'd expect that sort of thing to happen in Bulgaria or Moldova but not France, though it's really cool that they bent the rules for you. If you sold to a respectable Frenchman and it gets bounced back and the expensive coin is returned to you then I hope you'll send it again, if however your buyer was a Shlomo Shekelstein I wouldn't shame you for doing the same thing they'd surely do in this situation.

Of course bro, i never scammed anybody in my life, i don't plan on starting today. I may be a poorfag but i still can look at myself in the mirror thank God.

>if however your buyer was a Shlomo Shekelstein I wouldn't shame you for doing the same thing they'd surely do in this situation.
That's what i fear the most. If he claims he only received the empty one, i'd have no way to tell if he's lying or not, even though the director told me there is 98% chances the machine will try to deliver it at the buyer's address. But i know i'll be too honest and take the loss on me if the buyer falsely claim he received nothing to jew me. It's not the end of the world, but 300 bux is a pretty big set back for a poorfag like myself.

Thankfully the dude have a french name with particule, so from former nobility, old sounding first name (boomer 99% confirmed) and he's rich enough to offer 300€ coins. With 100% positive evaluations (all as buyer), so i think i should be fine, it's all characteristic of a honest person.
Would be far more scared if it was a woman or an arab. And i'd be full Owari Da if the name was Levy lol.

Yeah you guy got shafted hard, it really doesn't make sense as the purchasing power of the GBP was more than strong enough to justify silver coins for another 2-3 decades. I think the Mexibros may have it best though, they had bimetallic sterling silver center coins struck for circulation from 1992-1995 and they can still be found floating around there, pretty wild to think about.

Yes of course, I save lots of different items and patterns, there are plenty of sterling silverware items that are worth quite more than melt so if you have a large variety you'll need to take some time to look at ebay sold item prices for each pattern or article that looks potentially desirable. I took a quick look and it seems like 4-piece place settings in the Chippendale pattern sell for $140+shipping, estimating ~20g of sterling in the knife handle and weighing the other 3 pieces will give you solid figures to work with, but at ~4ozt asw per place setting even after ebay fees you would pocket more than spot. The refinery takes a cut of silver too so at the current prices Dad's probably right that the Chippendale pieces are best kept intact.
