It took me two hours today to drive home from work through traffic. No accidents or anything, just the sheer amount of cars packed like sardines in the streets.

Is there any study that shows a cause and effect relation between road congestion and economic output?

Let's be honest, you weren't going to do anything productive with that time anyways.

Nope, this doesn't make me want to give up cars either poltard. No, I don't want to be reliant on centralized mass transit.

Same.
At nighttime the same drive is 30-40mins for reference.
And the 2 hours is still faster than public transport, and loads more comfortable. Even in muh 15 min utopia, The Netherlands.

I live in Miami, which has an on and off season, and I can't imagine how bad season will be this year. I think part of the problem is fuel is so cheap, even with people bitching about gas prices, it's still stunningly cheap compared to the rest of the world. So people don't think about how they drive, and since a lot of people don't actually work anymore, you get tons of people mindlessly driving around and not planning their routes.
