man, i'm so proud of these lil niggas, i can't even tell you. watching Serg at all of the SIBOS talks, the dude has really come a long way from the early days. he just *exudes* confidence that he's selling what absolutely everyone there will need whether they like it or not.

i will say, though, that the shit that was said at that "future of value" talk makes me wonder if i've inadvertently switched sides, if my aligning my own financial future with CL's now puts me in the same camp with people i think should be swinging from lamp posts. but technology is always this way -- it always simply magnifies both the good and the evil.

either way, well done for hanging on, lads. it was never too hard for me because i've already made it in just about every respect that matters, but CL doing what CL will do is going to move us to a whole new level of possibilites.

No venture in life that involves a group a people will have only morally good people. The ones you think should swing from lampposts are just a little more forthright about their lack of a conscience.

Focus on what Sergey said, "people won't like you trying to control their behavior like this, and if you try, you're only going to create an incentive for the market to produce superior options". Consider who he said that to, and who is the target audience for that panel. He wasn't saving face, he said it because he believes it to be true.

Also consider than in order to enact change, you have to at least deal with the vestiges of the past. He is working with these people because from a matter of practically, he absolutely has to.

If you are really bothered by such things still, resolve to do good with what wealth might come your way. Enact some real change- prove your conscience has some force and utility to it rather than just nagging you incessantly. This thing is happening with or without you.

Not sure about you, but I got excited about crypto when I learned of its potential to undercut so many bad actors in money and finance. The anxiety in my post was actually about the proximity of the project to the very people that corrupted money itself so completely, and the notion that victory of good over evil is anything but guaranteed.

>I got excited at the prospect of my supposed enemies being punished

Anon, this is not the way. The sword of justice should always be swung reluctantly and with measured remorse. Supposedly, you are bothered by where you are putting your money. Well, let me ask you then:

Did you experience a moral dilemma when purchasing your last meal? Did you know where it came from? Have you ever had deal with a mechanic? Did it even occur to you to wonder what sick lifestyle your money might be funding? The mechanic could be a killer. I could make an unlimited amount of analogies to this effect. Understand I am making a larger point; Why is this occurring to you now, in this context?

If you applied the same level of scrutiny to any other aspect of your life, you'd find your life is supported by a veritable bed of snakes. What are you going to do about it, huh? Wish for the death of your enemies, or just... do some good? You don't even need money for that, anon. You could go do some good right now. What's stopping you?

I don't disagree with anything you're saying, but when I got into crypto -- LINK in particular -- it was my hope that we were building a system that would make it harder, if not impossible, for much of the evil present in existing commercial systems to flourish. THAT would be good (though I hold no illusions that I'm actually responsible for any of it). My posts in this thread are simply to broadcast my suspicions that my hopes were, in fact, naive (and to thank Ari and Sergers for their good work, of course).

I'm currently working from home, sitting on my back patio watching the chickens peck around the yard while my dog watches over them protectively, after having had lunch with my beautiful wife and the youngest of our three kids who's not yet in school with her siblings -- a school whose official policy is that any student caught with a cell phone on campus is immediately suspended -- the very school where I went at their age and that I now regularly volunteer at and where I've found I actually love working with kids. I believe the best thing I can do for the world is to raise my kids to be real humans that feel a connection to the natural world and that scorn the frivolities of modern culture, such as it is. I'm not banking on LINK being any kind of jewel in my heavenly crown, but I'm afraid of being let down by my hopes having been too high to begin with. Thanks for reading my blog.

The future of value panel clearly put Cruela in the "CBDCs to control human behaviour" unmitigated evil category and Sergey in the "financial inclusion through technology" good guy category.
Just because they shared a stage does not mean they're the same.
Even looking at DECO/CanDID and Chainlink wants completely sovereign ID that you can share info at will, while governments want 100% access to all of your personal details at all times.
There are levels to this shit and there is absolutely no doubt that Chainlink are the "good guys" at that scale.
