i grew up on a farm and while i don't mind coming back to my parents place to help out with the occasional bit of labour on the weekend, I never want to live on a farm again. Physical labour and outside projects are fun once in a while, but when it's a daily chore it fucking sucks. The vast majority of people are not cut out to be farmers and the majority of people who think this way just would be happier if they went out of their way to get some variety in their lives.

Bought a few acres on top of a hill, it's a little meadow surrounded by forest. Really hoping to get a little house set up with the modern amenities. Then I want to build a greenhouse and stagger plantings so I can have fresh green salads every day. A couple German shepherds or huskies to keep the coyotes at bay, a cat to keep the mice away, a few rabbits for fertilizer and stew, a mess of chickens, and possibly a pig or two. I can rent the field next door to graze a couple of cows on, bag the occasional deer, and only go to the grocery store for coffee.
Also a chubby titcow in her 20s to keep pregnant.

I live in the balkans and I would go every summer to my grandparents who lived in the sticks. If you've lived in the city your entire life you have no idea how time consuming maintaining a household is. There's always something to do, if you need anything you gotta drive to the nearest city to go get it and your neighbors are drunk retards most of the time. There's a reason everybody fucks off to cities. From somebody who lived in rural villages, small cities and big metro cities. Go for the small cities, you got everything you'll need nearby and don't have to worry about the plights of a big city or the inaccesibility of living rural. Something mountainous where you can just walk out of the city and hike in the forest is best.
