Energy/commodities are still extremely cheap to other assets like tech and real estate. All that inflation of the money supply hasn't flowed into them yet, and it will. There are structural deficits and the last 10 years of under-investment in new production, and it will take years or even the rest of the decade to fix. When I was older they told me they had a retirement account with close to half a million go tits up, all they got back out of it was a little more than 20k. The flipside of that is without the housing market going full degen like it is now they probably wouldn't have been able to buy a home at all and they bought their home right before things started getting bad with a fixed rate. Yeah, you buy shares in the companies that produce the commodity, which generally have a degree of leverage over the price movement in the underlying commodity. So if oil goes up $20 past a previous resistance level, you often see 150+% moves upward in the equities. Oil will probably hit $150 next year or in 2025.

Safe way to invest is through ETFs, buy OIH and/or BOIL for oil. Buy URA, URNM or URNJ for uranium, etc.

For gold/silver, I think the safest way to invest there is with royalty companies. MTA is the one I recently bought.

Probably at least to some degree, yes. Among the instructions is to buy in lightly and never get caught without dry powder for averaging down (and only do this when you are reasonably overall ultimately bullish considering all available data).

I am going to do something that I very rarely do, and am generally extremely cautious about. MY GUESS, and that's essentially all it is, is that you'll have a chance in the months ahead to sell it for at least around $70 or more. This is factoring in the potential for decay in the ETF in and of itself on a technical level (being a 2x leveraged instrument). My both suggestion and method is if you think it's going to continue some dropping, and I do, and have said many times in these threads that I expect to see it dip well into the 40s during the seasonal transition (cooling weather reducing AC use but not to the point of heat kicking in), is to sell bit of your holding on any even small rip for either small profit or very tiny loss, then buy more on deeper dipping, *never* "going all in" unless/until you are very fuckin' sure it's at a bottom and going to rip again. I never sell *all* of mine, but very often sell small bits, then rebuy them a little lower, getting my average cost down without being top heavy over assumed deeper dipping. The portion I always keep is there in case I get surprised by a rip so I can at least catch that much of it.

Seems like you are going in way too heavy then for bearish times. During bearish times you want to start small and DCA on the way down while letting your cash gain 4.9% daily accrued/monthly paid while it sits awaiting the automatic INVOOSTMENT orders (be they daily/weekly/monthly). For instance, you might start FIVE STOOKS at say, 500 each, then set up automatic reinvestments of maybe $10 or $20 daily into them (I think daily is better than weekly when it comes to achieving more optimal averages). Of course, with what you have left these figures need to be a lot smaller, like $50 starting seeds and $5 daily REINVOOSTMENTS).

Its well worth investing in cash to receive 5% yield bare minimum over this year and next. Equity prices might surge higher in a soft landing situation, or they might surge down. So hedge your bets and hold cash in yield creating assets. Your emergency fund sitting as cash would be a good start, but I would increase the allocation to 20k or so probably in good quality short term bonds. The benefit being that bonds are usually also seen as "liquid asset" that can be used to broker deals/lines of credit etc.

Just look at it, hover and observe the peaks and valleys, see where it could have been bought and sold, see where it's trending, and know what to expect from the seasonal and macro factors. HOOD doesn't have 6 month charts but those are very useful/important too. I just use the one month chart and hover the relatively flat looking line at that zoom and watch the price points all across it. In many ways you can disregard the huge mountain from last Fall/Winter in terms of "normal expectations" because that was a result of the Russian macro factors including the pipeline getting blown.

Some of Livermore's rules, was he right?

>Markets are never wrong opinions often are. >Back your judgment and don't trust your opinion, until the action of the market itself confirms your opinion
>Few people ever make money on tips, beware of inside information. If there was easy money lying around, no one would be forcing it into your pocket
>Money is made by sitting, not trading. It takes time to make money. Don't give me timing; give me time
>Buy right, sit tight. Big movements take time to develop. Men who can both be right and sit tight are uncommon
>Money cannot consistently be made by trading every day or every week during the year
>Nothing new ever occurs in the business of speculating or investing in securities and commodities
>Never average losses
>The human side of every person is the greatest enemy of the average investor or speculator. Wishful thinking must be banished

All of that is true but it often gets perverted by people who understand what he really meant.
For example a boglehead can take what he said and twist it into thinking Livermore would just DCA an index fund, which he clearly didnt. The guy used massive amounts of leverage, the 3x ETFs were child's play to the kind of leverage they used back in the day.
He made most of his money waiting for opportunities and then waiting for his positions to play out. But also he used so much leverage that he lost his fortune multiple times and ended up killing himself

I actually do have a large expense coming up (downpayment, yay) and after that I plan on complying with the rule the anon said and invest in good companies until I think they are no longer good
this is a bit harder to do in US since my knowledge comes from internet and some select articles/outlets I guess (WSJ comes to mind) so frankly I dont expect to beat the market in US, but I feel like they are doing fine so I want to be part of their journey I guess as Euro is a bit fucked atm

I dont have a single euro in my emergency cash btw as I never understood why I would need it at my age and with my responsibilities lel since healthcare is free-ish where I live and I dont have kids, wife
I get paid, I invest a lump sum, if I earn extrea I also invest them, come 25th I get paid again, I invest the remaining + lump sum and move on

Past gains are not indicative of future gains. Between 1920-2000 the US gdp growth was phenomonal. Now? We're looking at 1-2% gdp growth a year. In addition we have now crossed more debt as a percentage than gdp for the government which means its tapped on how much more stimulus it can provide to the market. We won't ever be getting QE back which was what helped propel equities so high. The only reason Japan is still able to pursue QE (and its causing their currency to explode) is to counteract their rapidly deflating population.
