If I get a masters in mineral resources/mining engineering, will there be demand for analyst roles in the feasibility/pre-feasibility part of mining? Minerals and mines fascinate me a lot as an idea, especially the geological and financial aspect of them. But I don't see myself working underground for more than during my studies. Surely there are some analyst type of office jobs with occasional travelling to mines for guys who have masters in science in mining?

I think there are companies out there that mostly do engineering or feasibility studies or technical reports. Some onsite work is typically included but it's just checking places out and verifying facts, if the information I've read in some of those papers is true. But it's the geologist who does that part not the engie if I understand correctly

Just think about everything you do / have done as part of an overall strategy. Wanting to swing trade UUUU for months *and* buy+hold for the squeeze is like wanting to bottom-tick / win at roulette. I personally have held my U stocks since early 2021 with some light profit-taking along the way, and while I'm happy now & up a lot on a huge position, your returns relative to investment size probably beat mine and your annualized returns surely crush mine, 2.5yrs is a long opportunity cost. And it's only obvious in hindsight that this particular pump was gonna be bigger than the handful of others (also, very dependent on which company).

Yes I am leveraged to the hilt. 3xSLV and 3xGDX, but I don't hold any scams- sorry "juniors" so I only deal with ETFs. I also sold my 3xGDX for a profit on the last top for lack of a better word but got back in on the leverage with the last call. My profits will cushion any choppiness we get this time if it's a false move but I'm still holding out for the bigun. Maybe I'll get kicked in the teeth but we'll see. Eloro has been absolutely demolished after releasing their inferred MRE. Almost at 3y lows. They are going to use a Steinert ore sorter for their operation... ring any bells...? I can remember an ore sorter being related to a certain stock we all know, as well as Quinton Hennigh's failed venture in Australia. Big resource though, lots of beta in case silver runs.

Steinert are the major makers for ore sorters right now, so that kind of makes sense to order from them, but for a project of Iska Iska's size, ore sorting doesnt make sense. i honestly have no idea, but i can have a look! I know of that mine, but i dont have any data on it thats modern. On Freeport's website they say the Henderson Mine has been operating on reduced output since 2015 due to how the market for moly has been fairing. With output reduced, their probably just drawing from stopes setup a number of years ago, meaning limited new development work. Lower output means longer mine life, add on a fairly massive ore body, the mines not going away from lack of resource.

Market conditions could shutter the operation though, moly prices spike and crash, thats killed a number of great mines, such as Endako in my neck of the woods.

I think I have heard of a few moly mines in Canada that got shut down before they could even begin to produce because the chinks began to flood the market with cheap molybdenum from their own mines. not quite a monopoly but they buy a lot of it for the steel industry, as well as for a lot of lubrication purposes. Japan buys a lot of it as well for its steel industry as well, but not as much as they did 10 years ago. The markets for moly tanked after the US lowered trade tariffs on a bunch of metal concentrates a long ways back, the market swings wildly now depending on demand. Moly comes from dozens of copper mines as byproduct, so it usually ends up in massive barrel farms until the market demands 50 million pounds out of no where. There are also a few dozen mega scale mines sitting in the ground right now as moly prices are just to low the last few decades to make mining it viable. I know two mountains made of the stuff south of Houston BC, and another up by Kemess, no ones been interested in moly until earlier this year when the markets went nuts, then cooled out again.

college is supposed to teach you how to think, provide a well rounded education, and some focus on a particular field. Lots of professors are not rich and think they are smart. Lots of C level students get rich because the don't wast time and fluff, they go for what makes money. Learning is always good, you can apply the concepts to many fields in mining, or associated with mining (finance, regulation, computer software, chemicals, machinery, repair work for mining equipment, environmental, whatever.). If you are interested in it you will learn more faster. Don't go into debt for it though. If you start the degree constantly be thinking, planning, preparing for what you are going to do after you get the degree. You can change your mind along the way but a least be thinking and preparing for it. I was getting my degree all the old professors told me mining, oil, and diamonds were all dead ends because everything was already found and exploited. Turns out they were laid off and went into teaching. It was the worst advice they gave because I listened and they steered me into a field I never really liked.

In my opinion it's one of the safest bets out there regarding juniors, just a longer term thing now because the project got delayed, but this has been clear for a while now.
Nothing will happen until they start the mine construction or at least figure out the funding for it, so this is going to do fuckall except maybe bleed until they get things going.

I moved into oil/gas when "fracking" was getting big. I had been finding info online and studying and found a government agency was hiring to staff up their program to handle all the permits and regulations. I tested and scored higher than the other inside candidates who were already working there. Once I started I met with project managers from the oil companies who knew nothing about the government regulations and did not care either, also the old experts never seemed to have learned any of the new pressure transient analysis techniques. If they made money they were brilliant, if they lost money it was the government's fault. The real value in working for the government for a while was I got to look through all the files, 100 years of project data, from many, many companies and many locations. I could tell exactly what a company was trying to with their proposal even if they were not clear about it. also, there was a option for companies to request their data be kept confidential for five years while they tested new areas, but I got full access to it. I learned data analytics and how to use SQL and Excel to query large data sets we had and build simple but effect data analysis tools ( I was watching certain business submit fraudulent data to cover their real operations - you learn more about the business from the cheats than from legit operators). I could evaluate quickly new project proposals, approve faster, or point out what needed to be fixed. I moves up quickly to run the whole operation. Other folks before me retired and moved into the private industry at high levels because they understood what it took to make a project work. If you go into consulting you will see, hopefully, many projects from many different companies and this will give you great insight into what works and what does not. - getting error message my post is too long....
