In my opinion, if the BRICS can hold it together, they will end up issuing a gold-backed currency to try and muscle in on the USD's role as international trade and reserve currency. If they are able to do that successfully, the USA and other countries will have to follow with their own gold-backed currency or be shut out. There will be opportunities to trade dollars for gold and gold-backed money down the road, but the exchange rate is never going to be better than it is now.

If the BRICS can't get it together, then it is going to take a mighty fall of the USD to bring about change. But you can look at this as the final chapter of the Bretton Woods story. The inevitable failure of a dishonest and unfair system built on a lie.

There's having canned food and stored water, then there's having raw ingredients in mylar/freeze-dried and water treatment/filters. Having cash outside the banks and having PMs outside the local fiat system is comparable. Osmium would be an amazing metal to stack because of its unique blue tint. However, it has the potential to become toxic which is why barely anyone uses it as a store of value.

why are safes so shit?
anything with an electronic mechanism is already garbage thanks to the backup mechanical locks always being the weakest link. but even when looking for mechanical only safes, they dont really look particularly secure.
why not make a safe where you can simply slot in a door lock, be it pin tumbler or dimple or whatever? i reckon those are far more secure than your old ass looking lock mechanisms on most small safes are.
surprised to see that lock picking lawyer never did a video attacking these kinds of locks, only the mechanical backups. i cant imagine the pick resistance being very good.

It's a junk measurement to fool silver stackers that they're making a dent in Comex's holdings. This here is the real impact the silver squeeze has had.

It's normal but if you check the aufgeldtabelle you will find a lot of cheapies, too. Not 999+, but 900 or 925 is available at a few % over spot, sometimes under spot when spot jumps and ships haven't jacked up prices yet. Germany is actually one of the best countries for buying silver if you go for the cheapies. Some have really cool designs, too. Then there's the whole Reichsmark thing.

tl;dr: holiday seasons for indicator of when bubble will burst. buy silver, gold, guns, bullets, food, a couple of big dogs.

so here's what i'm thinking:
iirc college debt payments will resume in January.
as we know the holiday season will be the best indicator on the health of the economy. but it will tell when the damage control will lose grip.
if the halloween season has good spending and christmas has good spending then either things are alright for another year or college graduates are fucking retarded and it's gonna be bankruptcies across the board.
however if halloween spending is low then it probably wont be good for christmas either.
at best i think christmas spending would be a last hoorah before debt payments start again and we see major belt tightening from middle class and lower.
in my area i don't even know how the lower class is making it, and i don't see it getting better. i'm expecting crimes sky rocketing and citizens getting fed up with weak policing.
but if both are low then feel free to
dump everything into PMs this winter.
February/March will be when the trains starts to go off the rails and many turn to the safety of PMs. If this war doesn't stop and we lack another year of ukrainian harvest food prices will push even higher and what we see today will become the next years cheapies we could only dream about.

I'm allowing myself money to buy one ounce gold coin. This is kind of a treat, so I'm not considering premium or resale. Should I get:
St Guadans
Krugerrand from my birth year
Some kind of meme coin
Type one AGE
Historical coin (obviously not one ounce or I'd have to budget more money)
Or whatever, give me suggestions, plz.
I can't really buy more PMs in general because I have too much home repair and other shit, but I can't not buy at least one gold coin with this money (R.I.P. mom).

Bonus question: should I leave the cash in going to use in the next two years on home repair in the mutual fund (I'm going to convert the IRA to Roth and pay the taxes, you have to with inherited, long story) or should I put it in a HYSA? I'm going to have to spend most of it anyway, but it's got to sit somewhere for the next year or so while I arrange contractors and shit.

My pick would be St. Gaudens, easy, if you can get a nice one for a decent price.
For the rest, I think it depends on what the mutual fund is. Unless its something super safe, I'd probably go with the HYSA.

Yeah, that's why I listed it first. I've loved the eagle on the reverse since I saw it in a catalog as a kid. I'd be so tempted to wear it as jewelry, but I'm not a jewelry guy and it would get lost or damaged at work.

The inherited IRA is with vanguard. I just met with I financial advisor from my church credit union to have it moved because vanguard have been total ass hats. I'm tempted to leave it to him to manage as a Roth but I'm afraid of a crash. He's paid on 1% commission. For the time being I don't mind paying him to hold it for 2 quarters while I take it out now and in January (tax bracket issue, can't take it in one go and I trust him more than vanguard.) I'm do tempted to pull it all out on cash and buy gold and ammo.

The only reason I wouldn't go with the St gaudens is I really don't want to pay for numismatics. I don't care what year it is, but I want it in the best condition possible.

>but if shtf, will the banks just keep everyone's boxes and tell me to fuck off?
Yes. Would you really trust a fucking bankster of all people with your shinies kek?
Remember the scamdemic? Well, over here banks forbid people to access their safes in order to "limit the spread of the virus" for months. Then once the (((vax))) was out, only vaxmaxxers were allowed to access their safes. The purebloods were forbidden to approach their own belongings for almost a year, before globohomo finally tune down their psycho warfare against unvaxxed ppl.

If they can pull this insane shit out of their hat for a psyops, imagine what they will do if (((they))) are really afraid because of a SHTF event, or once they become really bloodthirsty.

Another story. Remember the "special operation" when ruskies invaded Ukraine? Immediately following sanctions on the ruble, NATO (the US) ordered their vassals to apply illegitimate, illegal actions to seize russian assets who were in the EU. At first it was stories about "punishing the oligarchs surrounding Putin so they'd force him to change is mind" by seizing their giant yatchs, mansions and ferraris. Then when it didn't work, our government started to seize the assets of semi-richfag millionaires with a russian passport, even though they weren't related in any fashion with the russian regime, but it "could be used to finance the war effor".
And finally, they started to ask all the banks to block access to the safes and empty the bank accounts of normies born in Russia or with dual nationality french-russian. Stealing their belongings, harrassing them for no fucking reason. This is what the "Pays des Lumières et de la Liberté", supposed to be the "herald of human rights", is capable of under a judeocratic regime.

So no, don't you ever trust the fucking banks with your stuff. Not even your cash should be there, just enough to pay for bills. Actually, the minute it's in the bank, it's not yours anymore, read the fine prints.

I saw the MSM gloating about the confiscation of oligarch yachts which was legally tenuous and retarded enough, but they actually went as far as restricting access to or stealing the assets of any normie pleb Russian or Franco-Russian held in France? Was this a widespread categorical act of rabbinical malevolence against anyone of Russian extraction or were only a few innocent Russian normies targeted? Either way, I don't see how such nonsense could have been deemed wise unless the actual goal was to make it clear to all Russians that they are the enemy and forcing those otherwise ambivalent russonormies into the position of supporting their motherland in the next unnecessary global conflict.

Devil's Advocate: You are many, many times more likely to lose your PM in a
>burglary

than a government confiscation of PMs sitting in a safe deposit box. You're more likely to have your PMs stolen by a friend or family member than anyone else.

The SHTF scenario is not realistic and even if it did happen you will most likely be one of billions of dead people so it's not worth even thinking about.

>Was this a widespread categorical act of rabbinical malevolence against anyone of Russian extraction or were only a few innocent Russian normies targeted?
From what i know, it was a few innocent russian normies. Maybe it was more widespread than i'm aware of, because of course this is not the kind of thing they proudly talk about. It's done discretly. Probably to anger the russian government and push them to do a diplomatic mistake.

But above all, i think it was a flex from Washington, who showed Putin they have complete control over France, and that dialogue was now impossible. Because historically we have close ties with Russia, and french ppl used to love Russia (they still do even though the propaganda is taking it's toll). And France used to be a mediator for peace talks in many wars, so they closed this window of opportunity for Putin to defuse the situation. Instead Macron the kikes' puppet literally said in our parliament that we are at war against Russia, wtf..

See, ever since the (((orange revolution))), our kike media have been hysterically anti-russian and anti-Putin. The best way to display how controlled and centralized are our (((media))) is to see what they write about Russia for almost a decade now. It's insanely aggressive slanders and dehumanizing, especially from the ""left"". Which is rich since we used to have a communist government post-ww2, who loved Russia above all else, and now the only pro-russian are the far-right bourgeoisie kek. But now it's reaching levels completely absurd, it's almost calls for genocide.. The fanatism of the jews is beyond all reasoning. They are beings of pure hatred.

I'm not finding any references to the gov't opening safe deposit boxes to confiscate gold in the 1930s, though one idiot tried to take out his gold from a bank and the bank notified the glowies.

There was however the incident in Hollywood that is still being contested. I speculate it's just very crooked cops.

This is my point. Try to find an example of the government confiscating gold from someone's safe deposit box. Of hundreds of thousands of safe deposit boxes there might be one example in 50 years and it was likely in connection with a totally different criminal incident. Then look up how many home burglaries there are every single day and how many houses get destroyed by floods or mudslides or tornadoes or hurricanes or fires.

Bank robberies where the robber takes the time to go into safe deposit boxes are exceedingly rare and far less likely to happen to you than someone stealing the PMs from your own home. Most bank robbers just want fiat from the teller and they're in and out in less than five minutes.

>>56118994
Do what you want, but don't pretend it's less risky. The stigma against safe deposit boxes on /pmg/ comes from
>a myth that the government confiscated gold from them in the 1930s (it didn't and there's a whole host of reasons why they won't try it again)
>a single news story where the FBI raided boxes in one bank in connection with a criminal investigation
The likelihood of PM in your home getting robbed or destroyed is a multiple higher than either of those other scenarios. If you keep your PM in your house for "moral" or political reasons that's different, but it's not safer.
