You didn't dream it Scrapfren, this 1:300 figure was from our good old Maloney boy, in a vid where he was asked what was his personal stacking ratio. To put it back in perspective, it was in 2020 while the ratio was nearing 1:100. He even said 1:500 wouldn't be a bad idea if the ratio would once again reach 1:110+ like it did for a short period. Claiming at this retarded GSR, silver should be absolute priority, and to go back down to a more broadly accepted 1:100 figure when the GSR was hovering around 80. And finally to go for more gold if the ratio would go below 65.

Basically it's when a bank fails and instead of brrrrr the depositors just lose all their money. This was made the law of the land after 2008, and it's what SHOULD have happened in March when those other banks failed, but our leaders were too cowardly so the fed made up a new program out of nowhere to bail them out without technically calling it a bailout.

ho no, just 3 days, but it's annoying enough. Actually they banned me for no good reason the day where i posted some DD about China/Korea/Japan/Taiwan playing around import numbers by importing silver ore and concentrate rather than refined bars.
Sure they save on the refining part doing it themselves, but it's important to remember a ton of silver ore only contain 2.79gr of pure silver. Moving a ton across the ocean to finish up with only 2.8g seems rather wasteful. And we are talking about close to 1 fucking million tonnes for China alone in 2022...
More on that later, because i'm still trying to figure out few things and i don't want to go too wild on my speculations.

Meanwhile US/Canada/UK are slurping hard the refined bars/silver in investment form. Almost 50% for the past 2 years of the total production, while being only 5% of the world's population.
Found this figure a bit odd, considering stackers still are a fringe minority, even in anglo nations.
So it got my old noggin' joggin', and i try to understand where all this unaccounted for silver went. But me think asian nations are trying to stay under the radar of anglo banks at any cost by scooping silver at the source -before it could even be counted as silver- to not prop up the numbers.

It is a possibility, yes. But as the other fren said, it's all speculative. Some of us think Basel III, BRICS' commodities trade partnership, central banks stacking, etc.. are laying a background for a gold revaluation mutually agreed upon by big nations. This is why there is what seems to be a race between nations to slurp as much as possible, but as discretly as possible.

Silver remonetization is arguably way trickier to envision, simply because it is such a vital industrial commodity nowaday, we can't afford to have it in standstill, stuck in coinage. This was already the conclusion of JFK back in the 60s, and why he passed EO 11110, so the treasury wouldn't have to compete in the open market against industrials. But it also could be used as a powerful lever for this very reason. We have evidences companies like the chinese behemots Chengtong or MCC (both partially state-owned) are stacking silver way beyond their needs. Behind the veil (and the shitty fud here), there is a war being waged for securing the control of PMs before both a monetary reset and an attrition war over almost-depleted resources.

But this example of Cyprus just illustrates the point because Cyprus uses the Euro and is therefore unable to just print more money to cover losses. They had no choice. Countries that use the Euro are under central control. This is very important in order to understand why the BRICS will have to turn to gold.

If several nations get together to issue a fiat currency like the Euro, they need to agree to control on the creation of the currency. If they leave the member countries free to print at will, the whole scheme goes up in smoke because there will be a direct financial incentive to be the first country to inflate. With inflation, the first to get the new money wins and the last loses.

The BRICS, being far more diverse and, let's face it, more chaotic, hostile, and incompetent than the Euro nations, will have a very hard time agreeing to a central authority to control issuance of a new fiat currency. The only solution is to issue a currency that is inherently limited by redeemability in a commodity. Given the history of precious metals and the fact that all of the BRICS have relatively large gold reserves, points very strongly in that direction. So-called baskets of commodities won't work.

Anyway, the case of Cyprus says nothing about what a country like the USA, that has open access to the money printer, will do when pressed.

My point is that the example of Cyprus is irrelevant to the USA because Cyprus had no choice to do a bail out because it couldn't freely print Euros. The USA can print dollars at will. Cyprus could not print euros at will. So they are totally different situations. Show us a case where a country that had unlimited access to fiat money creation chose to confiscate bank accounts rather than just print more money. Then you will have actually made a relevant point.

>BRICS have relatively large gold reserves
USA and Germany have more gold than all of BRICS+ combined.
Tiny Italy has more gold than Russia or China.

They don't have enough gold to facilitate all their business, their combined economy amongst themselves is just too large.
So the BRICS currency can't be backed by gold. Estimates say it could be backed by up to 3% gold, the rest is good old "credit".

And I've already shown that policy has been implemented to do bail-ins if nations choose to. I really do not give a flying fuck about your technicality, especially when I'm of the firm belief that central banks will do gold revaluation instead to prevent a liquidity crisis and bank collapses.

Again, give it up already.

Your BRICS fud is lame. You keep posting the same factoid about how much gold the USA, Germany, and Italy have as if that makes it harder for the BRICS to issue a gold backed currency when in fact the opposite is the case. It isn't a golden dick-measuring contest except in some weird "America Fuck Yeah" nationalist stupidity. The more widespread gold reserves are among commercial nations, the EASIER it is for the BRICS or anyone else to monetize gold. If everyone has some gold, remonetization is easy. Everyone just pegs their currency to gold, in accordance with how much gold and outstanding currency they have. Voila! World gold standard.

As for how much gold the BRICS have:

China is the top gold producer in the world and on top of that has been buying gold at record levels. Nobody outside the CCP knows how much gold they have, but it is plenty and increasing rapidly. And they are not buying it for jewelry. The Indian people are estimated to have 20,000 TONS of gold in private hands. South Africa, Russia, and Brazil are all three top-10 gold producers. So the idea that BRICS don't have enough gold is just wrong on the facts.

Additionally, you should remember that the value of money is a product of supply and demand. When gold is remonetized, its value will increase as needed in response to demand. So there really is no minimum quantity required. Your thinking has been twisted by MMT propaganda.

*EVERYTHING* cost at least *DOUBLE* what it would have cost me a year or so ago. Not even exaggerating.

Indeed. Prices in German supermarkets are falling right now. They haven't reached pre-inflation levels, but the basics are almost back, meat, milk, eggs, flour, oil, bread, butter. All that stuff is almost back to pre-covid levels.
Energy prices continue to fall to, particularly natgas, as European reserves are filled up to the brim. It's not down to pre-war, but it's down a lot.
The problem now is that large men in the middle pocket the difference.
Aldi is pocketing the difference between cheap tomatoes from the producer and selling them for 3€ the kg in their places.
McD is having larger margins than pre-covid.

Currency inflation
Sudden jolt in fuel prices making food transportation more expensive
Russian sanctions driving up prices of artificial fertilizer
Net Zero agenda being poorly implemented by climate fanatics
Arrogance of a globalized world not coming to bite countries in the face

Now we've just got to wait until national energy infrastructure is built to make up for that shortfall, but building things like Nuclear power plants take over a decade to get up and running, and things are going to get more expensive with migrants flooding the west and competing with the natives over resources.

I don't think fractionals are necessarily bad. It depends on which ones you buy. 1 gram is not good, and probably not 1/10 oz either. But you can find sovs (7.32 g) and 20F (5.8 g) for decent premiums. He should compare prices. Here's a simple shell script for calculating.

#!/bin/sh
c() { echo "scale=5; $*" | bc ; }
echo "sov : " `c 31.1/7.32*$1`
echo "20F : " `c 31.1/5.8*$1`

why aren't these recommended more? the still seem like a decent fractional option if you want larger than 1/10, something not super common, and something that's new. not saying they're the best deal but they don't seem horrible

I don't really have a hard limit on the premium itself. But I fixed my upper limit at 1800 euros/oz. I simply don't buy anything whatsoever above that.
I bought some krugerrands this summer, when the gold prices dropped. I've spent most of my savings now. Pretty soon I'll have to switch to buying 2 rand coins, british sovs, or 20F. In any case, my limit remains the same: 1800 euros/oz.
Maybe I'll have to adjust this number later on, when gold prices start to climb. For now it seems like a good guideline to keep me on track.

As much as you can afford while still living comfortably with a good buffer of fiat for emergencies.

My "How much" recommendation pasta:
I'd say about 6 month's total expenses (more is better) at current prices. If your needs per month in US$ come to:
2,000 for housing,
300 total for water, sewer, utilities, trash, natural gas
300 total for internet, cable, phone.
300 for food,
100 for gas,
x? hundred for medical insurance (about 700 in the US)
x? for car insurance (maybe 50)
400 for groceries
200 for 'other',
that rounds to about $3,600 (without the x? unknowns),or 2 ozt/month,
so at least 12-15 ozt gold or maybe 1k ozt silver or mixed however you prefe

Pretty doompilled today, frens.
While listing coins for sale, i noticed i purchased a lot containing a bunch of silver plated cupronickel coins. I got fooled because they have a silver counterpart, and a silver plated version, that i wasn't aware about.

Back then i checked a bunch of the coins and they were ok so i didn't weight them all, big mistake!

I tried to send them back for "wrong description", since they all were sold as silver, but the (((seller))) refused (didn't know it was possible on ebay, is it because it's been too much time? order was sent 1st of August..). Do i have any recourse or am i fucked?

Just went on ebay, and even though my request was dismissed by the seller earlier this evening, ebay's customer service automatically opened a dispute on my behalf for a refund.
So i guess i still have a chance, never had issues before and ebay always sided with me (as a buyer), but usually i open a ticket right after the delivery of the faulted items. Here it's been 45 days since it showed up in my mailbox..
Wait and see i guess, i'll keep you updooted on the matter.

Been a pretty shitty month so far as a buyer, between the guy who ghosted me after i won his auction and refuse to send, the cunt who tried to swindle me with her plated trash and opened a dispute claiming i damaged the returned item (probably was mad at having to put her finger into my shit lol but fuck her, ebay sided with me and i still got my money back), and now the not-silver coins sold as silver i noticed too late..
