even going from then to today, the inflation is fucking insane. i had a shitty eg civic that i could fill with gas for $10. a can of dip that i wouldn't be carded for was $1. a movie was under $5. soda and candy at the movie was $3. easy to afford as a young kid working part-time at target. today, instead of being a couple hours of minimum wage work for a kid, that would be a several hours salary for an adult with an adult's job.

for the 9/11 bit, hard to imagine what would be needed to give the same sense of unity we had the couple weeks and months following the attack. something pretty terrible, for sure.

Platinum and palladium are the most common money metals after gold and silver, but there are others as well. Not that they're popular or exist in coin form if that's what you mean. Other things have been used as money to conduct trade like cigarettes, lighters, etc. Popular in prisons. In a wider sense arguably even soldiers and women, or just peiple in thekform of slaves. Diamonds might be closer to what people consider money, but they're kind of a scam.

I started with silver because it was cheap and premiums were low. That's not the case anymore. You're taking more of a haircut if you have to liquidate with silver short term. The best advice I could give to a new stacker is to have a very well funded cash emergency fund. Cash is king. Then worry about precious metals, which should be viewed as a long term hold, throw it in a drawer and forget about it kind of purchase. And buy 1oz gold coins, pick one and stack them exclusively. If you're intelligent, you'll naturally gravitate towards the gold eagle. Possibly the buffalo. Buy generic silver until you get some weight up, then you can indulge on fancy stuff.

I'm Canadian BTW and know full well that our currency is not going to be safe long term. Canada is a corrupt, kiked country and I predict long term deficits that will eventually destroy the currency. Goldbacks are intended as a practical way to circulate small quantities of gold as money. Even silver coins had a tendency, historically, to get too small for practical use. I have some. But the creepy religious cult symbols turned me off to them.

The BRICS are all about trying to get out from under the thumb of the USD. In particular the power of the USA to print new USD without restraint and the power to bully people with financial controls. Nobody in their right mind is going to jump out of that frying pan into the fire of a fiat currency run by the CCP. And trying to manage high volumes of international trade using dozens of local fiat currencies is unmanageable. They might try to have a new currency issued under some kind of joint agreement, like the Euro. But that requires some kind of central authority to control issuance and that seems unlikely among low-trust countries like the BRICS. So what WILL they do?

The only workable answer is a self-limiting currency. And for various reasons, all roads lead to gold. That's why I think BRICS is ultimately bullish for gold remonetization. They can say whatever they want now, but ultimately they will have no choice. If they want a new, trustworthy international currency, it will have to be redeemable in a fixed mass of gold.

The other possibility is that they can't agree on anything and just fart around for another fifty years.

So, no, I wouldn't touch yuan.

Look it's simple, we use cash ,even though that cash loses value to inflation we'll keep using because it's the lesser of bad options for fiat,we'll keep using cash for a long time it's not going anywhere in our lifetime, gold keeps up with inflation if not outpacing it with certain coins ie ,a 20 dollar liberty head bu for $2054 rn has beaten silver when 20 bu Morgan's are worth below 1800 (depends on where you look),sure $20 dollars adjusted for inflation is around 600 ish means that both gold and silver have better adjusted for inflation but gold makes higher gains than silver does, why else would banks be buying gold by the millions than silver, again if you had 5k in cash would you have all your savings in stacks of 1 dollar bills or 100 dollars bill ,that the difference between silver and gold,

>> No.56087892

The banks are the entire reason for price disparity being that the ratio is retardedly off center. They’re using cash to replace the medium of silver so they can buy as much gold with it as possible, then offload all of it and take silver back while destroying the dollar.

If you argued that they used silver as a liquidity grift to sustain their margins I would agree with you to an extent. But it’s simple anon, 33T is not sustainable, the fed will never deflate it or pay it back. If it’s just a number, why the fuck does inflation exist at this point. The system goes through such great lengths to arrogate logic into it, the gap is literally how normies perceive it to work (it doesn’t that’s the point.) otherwise what you see wouldn’t be possible and a certain chose people would be in a very interesting situation.

>gold makes higher gains than silver does

Factually false whether one adjusts the numbers for inflation or not. Silver is much more volatile, but the spread between its lows and highs throughout the existence of the USD or over shorter-term bear/bull market cycles shows that it "makes higher gains" than gold ever has.

Through 1932, before FDR cucked our monetary system even further, 1 troy ounce of gold was worth $20.67 dollars. The average annual price for 1 troy ounce of silver was below $0.28 in 1932 (see pic), so the GSR was about 1:74. One could get silver for less than 35 cents per ounce as late as 1941 when gold was $35/oz, a GSR of 1:100.

Let's say you bought gold in 1932 at its absolute lowest price of 20.67/oz, and a lowly silver stacker bought his metal for over spot at a flat $0.28/oz at the same time. If you sold at the 1980 peak of $850/oz you would have enjoyed a tidy 41X return, but the 1980 peak of silver was $50.35/oz, yielding the poor silver stacker a 180X return. If you both held until 2011, gold's peak price was $1900 which would yield an impressive 92X, but even though silver's peak was lower at $49.50 it still smoked gold with a 176X return. If you and the silver stacker both bought your metals in 1941 instead of 1932, the relative disparity in potential gains between the metals would favor silver even more.

You may make the argument that gold is a more stable and steady store of value, but the biggest gains (or losses if you buy high) come from silver. Gold is an easier and more straightforward choice for midwits and normoids who might otherwise get burned by silver's volatility and physical premiums, but if you understand silver and how to stack it right the gains can be much better.

My pleasure, I've only ever advocated for the purchase of true cheapies. Watching mongoloids gobble up $350 generic 10oz bars or $42 ASEs when the hype got heated at various points the past few years was painful to watch, but ultimately retards being retards ain't my problem.

Y'know you make a good argument that I don't usually see on here anymore but, most your point work if you don't account for the fact that the price of gold was raised from 20.10 in 1932 to 35.10 in 1933 going from 600 ish to nearly 800 ish in one year adjusted for inflation, although that's because the dollar inflated, but also you have to account for
modern day premiums on certain gold and silver items. Some coins have high premiums because they're more valued ,ie American gold coins like eagles and Buffalos and pre 33 gold because it was meant to be melted down in 1933,other gold items can be had for cheaper like bars but they still make high gains if you bought them 2 or 3 years ago at mabye $300 to $400 in gains just from ine gold coin you couldvt bought for mabye $1500 to $1600 range, but the ratio for gsr has be a constant 1:70 or above and that ration barely moves in favor of silver, I get what your saying though but we don't know when the next 2011 or 1980s moonshot moment will happen.

/pmg/ is your stack safe and secure? What security meassures do you use to protecc your stack?

Silver sisters, today the ATF approved my eForm 1 to SBR my MP5. I'm still waiting on 3 supressors (which will take a while), but this just means my bullion is now that much more protected from any lustful, wonton chuds. We must secure the existence of our bullion and future for trans stackers.

>How do you deal with the urges to dump all fiat into shinies?

I accommodate those urges without price risk or premiums eating my gains by purchasing below-spot shinies. If you know what you're doing then it's great, if not then just buy gold as pretentious midwits like>>56089126 have been recommending here lately.

>>56089162
I thought the $20.67/$35 gold peg revaluation was well known here so didn't specifically mention it, but to not be credibly accused of cherrypicking I figured the last year of gold at it's lowest price of $20.67 would be a fair starting point. As stated, if I chose 1940 or 1941 instead of 1932 then silver's performance would have been far superior relative to gold's. With a GSR above 1:70 I am very comfy stacking silver, I don't know when it will happen next but history shows that periodically the ratio collapses and silver holders can harvest tasty gains if they act within the typically narrow window of opportunity.
