My parents house is valued €1.2 million, I am also an only child.
But I don't want my parents to die, I want them to live a long and happy life so that money isn't really relevant to me. Maybe I'll get it when I'm 50 or 60, who knows?
My parents are also house poor, their house is paid off but they barely own any assets other than real estate and have maybe 100k in the bank and only a few years left to retirement where they will earn much less than they do now.

My parent bought a $400k house on the water in 2015, it's now valued at $1.2 million, I'm glad for them because I inherited my grandmothers house and don't need to whine about their success.

only child here, parents got lucky these last 5 years (job promotions) and bought 3 apartments (two are about 120m2 and one is 160m2), we already owned one in a family building but its legally complicated so i dont even count it, they put the 160m2 is my name so I am pretty comfy, only thing is that i dont live in the country where everything is and i dont pocket anything from my house because the deal was that they rent the other two and live in mine, one day i will have an income of 4000 euros a month without doing a single thing but i hope that day never comes because i love my parents and dont want them to die, i feel very bad for you anon
