What I can tell you for CERTAIN is, those two positions were posted internally at some-point, meaning they were only open to people who already worked for the post office.

They either didn't find enough or any qualified candidates and have now posted them publicly to find external candidates.

When USPS posts job listings, they are literally only up for about a week before they're removed and probably won't be posted again for a year or more.

If you don't apply now, you're going to miss the window of opportunity because they'll be removed 09/08 and 09/13.

Not many fully remote tech jobs are unionized, have layoff protections, TSP, sick leave, annual leave, etc., etc.

If you're in the market and have the skills, you'd be a fool not to apply.

Or you can take your chances in the private sector where they do things such as having you train your replacement before they fire you and or just arbitrarily fire you for any reason.
