i ran $45,000 up to $780k over 4 years
i got a notice in the mail from the CRA that since i “carried out a business” i owe taxes on it
even worse they are asessing it as business tax so 100% of the amount is being taxed rather than 50% if i has just done the same in a normal trading account
what the fuck is this shit
i did like 20 trades a year and didnt do anything that isnt allowed in my RBC tfsa brokerage account. it literally blocks you from doing anything that is not allowed so no shorting. i just bought and sold stocks and etfs . i also took a shit load of losses until i started winning consistently
