Condoms break, hormonal birth control does not always work, and in my own case my wife & I used to use spermicidal film after our having two kids; apparently my swimmers were too strong for it, and that is how we got kid #3 (yes, I did DNA test just in case, I love my wife; but trust: then verify). I got a vasectomy afterwords, but my body decided to heal the damage, they do sperm tests afterwards to check for that. Since she does not want to get her tubes tied, that leaves us using condoms, which of course means we may end up with kid #4 if they break or slip off, but the sex is good enough to be worth the risk.
