55953604 No.55953604 [Reply] [Original]

I order takeout pizza almost every week. Instead of spending $20+ at my local pizzeria should I just spend the initial investment and get one of these to make pizza on my own? Anyone else have one? Will I save money in the long run? Is it worth it or will I just use it for a week and go back to ordering pizza again?

>> No.55953700

>>55953604
Yeah I have one. It’s great if you’re having parties or friends around or if you have a family to feed. You need to learn how to actually make good pizza though. But if you’re just cooking for yourself then it’s not really worth the hassle.

Make your own dough by hand just ONCE and you will change your mind about this idea and say "yeah it's worth 20$ to me to buy from the local place" (even leaving aside if you buy a dedicated table mixer for $500). You can't beat a pizza place's scale for your time, unless you're insanely passionate about pizza, you'll find it a pain in the ass.

The only thing is, if you're doing it solo, you'll probably get like 4 pizzas out of the dough you need / yeast you use, and will have 3 pizzas in the fridge for leftovers.

OP, just make the pizza yourself, it's pleasurable.

Everybody in this thread is retarded. OP, is the pizza you get even good? I mean like is it actually high quality, or is it a fucking chain pizza shop?
I buy the refrigerated pizza dough at the store, a little can of tomato sauce, a bag of mozzarella, and whatever toppings I want. It's like $10-15 depending on what meats/veggies you buy. Tastes just as good as any chain pizza store, and it's even cheaper the next time I do it because I have leftover cheese and toppings, so I just need to buy another thing of dough and pizza sauce.
And you don't need a fancy pizza oven, just use your regular oven.

Anything you order is goyslop soaked heavily in seed oils.
It tastes delicious.
But your own pizza will be cheaper and unavoidably better for your body.
You would have to try and go to great lengths to make a pizza as unhealthy as Domino's in your home.
It might not even be possible.

I did them in regular oven, it is not the same, it is just not, not for me.

I think I will try making my own, but I really think you need live fire somehow, pizza needs to be burned from above / side, not only from below.
And you need that high fire temperature, it should be done in just couple of min.

You turn on your ovens roaster.
I use a "pizza steel" which is just a thick sheet of metal. You heat it up for an hour or so first, then turn on oven roast when you put in the pizza. The stone/steel keeps bottom super hot while roast does the top.
I make sourdoigh pizza weekly and sure, it takes time but, it is cheap and with the steel is actually way better than a cheap dominos goyslop pizza
