I inherited a house from my grandmother and my mother who doesn't live with me keep referring to the house as "our" house.... and every time she says something about it she uses the word "we". This is funny because my grandfather gave me his car before he died to help me out and my mom 'helped me with the paperwork' and then it became her car. Then she let my brother drive it until he crashed it while drunk. She never kicked me out but threatened me several times with eviction and demanded rent. She still thinks she'll get backrent I think, since she believes I'll pay 120k a year to put her in a fancy end of life retirement home for old people on their last legs. This is after she blows through her 4 million networth on her 'golden years' of multiple vacations around the world every year.

Accurate. I helped my mom buy a house because she allowed me to save and invest instead of giving me the boot at 18. Currently I've cut her off since I need to focus on investing more for the next cycle but if all goes according to plan I'll upgrade her to a better house and ensure she never struggles again. Never the perfect parent but she tried and cared and it helped me succeed. It won't be forgotten.
