the powers that be were upset that STEM jobs were the highest paying normal jobs so they flooded the market with cheap new labor by seriously pushing STEM on those that would not have previously been interested in the field, such as in high schools and to young girls, circa 2011-2015
they all started graduating around 2016-2017, thus the uptick as well as the decline of Western civilization.

I'm sorry I can't do more, I don't know how; we're at a point where anything designed to keep out bots is better at keeping humans out and only serves to enforce the dead internet

Work from home. As someone in the medical field it pissed me off seeing all the tiktoks of wfh SWEs making $500k a year sitting on the computer. If I could go back in time, it's the obvious choice of a career. I've looked into career switching but it would probably take me 6-8 years to retrain into tech and get to a comparable salary.
