The key I've found is not using external factors to influence your choices too heavily. If it's a significant amount of money to you then begin to ladder out as soon as you hit realistic milestones. I personally tend to at least regain my invested capital around 2x then sell in smaller portions as it climbs but some investments aren't something I even risk waiting that long on. Profit is profit. Nobody ever went broke selling for profit. Greed is how you go broke. Worrying about missing out. Don't be a gay.

The easiest strategy is to imagine you already sold and had the USD value of your bitcoin in your bank account at that moment.
If you would buy BTC with all of it, then you keep holding.
If you come to think "shit that's a lot of money to move into BTC", then you need to start selling.

Of course this will likely mean you sell before ATH, but at least you'll have made a profit.
