>The government is expecting to finish the second and final round of decisions by the end of August.

Good to hear they're moving on with it at great pace.
If the companies are expected to break ground next year, this can't go on for too much longer before they're done.
I bet they'll fly through whatever environmental bullshit there is left to pull off, because they need this going fast if they want to stick to their schedule.
It's not even up for question whether TPR will be the storage company used, they're the only company who knows what they got that fits into this time frame.
Vortex won't be able to go through the drilling process in time.

To give some idea what kind of purchases happen there, Everwind Fuels, which is one of those companies talked about there, just spent a billion to buy few wind farms in the region.
https://www.environmentalleader.com/2023/07/everwind-fuels-invests-1-billion-to-purchase-3-wind-farms-in-nova-scotia/
If TPR is valued at just 1 billion, that's 270 mil for salt, which is 2x our current market cap and I bet it's going to be significantly more than that. 3 billion in TPR gives salt 810 mil cash or TPR stock.
When the news eventually come out, we could easily do multiples overnight and stay on that level.
Any real news could stretch all the way until the second half of next year though.

>from the article
While refracturing has never really gone mainstream, the technique is seeing higher adoption as drilling technology improves, aging oilfields erode output, and companies try to do more with less. According to a report published in the Journal of Petroleum Technology, new research from the Eagle Ford Shale in south Texas shows that refractured wells using liners are even capable of outperforming new wells despite the latter benefiting from more modern completion designs.

JPT also estimates that North Dakota's Bakken Shale straddles some 400 openhole wells capable of generating an excess of $2 billion if refractured. Mind you, that estimate is derived from oil prices at $60/bbl vs. this year's average oil price of almost $90/bbl. According to Garrett Fowler, chief operating officer for ResFrac, a refrac can be up to 40% cheaper than a new well and double or triple oil flows from aging wells.

To give late thoughts on Cathedral (CET);

I wrote a whole bunch of bullshit out trying to apply cycle theory to see if it works on individual stocks or not so big grain of salt with this, but the TL;DR is I think it's pulling back to around 0.8-0.75 over the next few days where it'll then bounce and start a new run. If it can't hold 0.75ish though then things look very bad and it might be in for a date with the 200wma, but if it does manage to bounce and get above the recent high and then break 1.0 it could run anywhere up to 1.8.
Wait and see if the support holds basically.

Look at the GDXU computer. I am anticipating the move up so hard. Every day is so tempting to buy in already.

Also the oil move looks weak. Looking at the etfs they barely moved. The BPT I got this morning is doing well, but maybe I should cash out if oil isn't going to trend up. It looks iffy still. Hopefully the bottom is past, but I don't know. The correction was barely a thing.

You should sell all your miners and use the cash toward the etfs to sell in and out. Why hold something that might make 50% gains then at the top they announce dilution and it drops 40% by the time the news hit you. I would have rather gone back in time and made 150% gains in a year holding etfs than to hold these companies hoping one day they 50x where they instead lose 20-80% in the same time frame.

This. I've concluded that unless you pick one of the two winners out of two hundred losers and scams that have been discussed here over the past few years, or are swinging in and out of positions based on news releases then you simply aren't going to outpeform an ETF, and personally I find it way more interesting to look at ETF charts than to trawl through websites and news releases but that's just my preferred focus of autism.

Maybe I'm wrong/demoralized and things will change and juniors will explode, I'm still holding a couple of small "safe" plays in case, and good luck to those who haven't been shaken out, but otherwise I'm all about the ETF baby. Ideally I'll get to make money here then rotate it into speculative plays later before they take off, but if not then whatever. ETF gains are going to be enough to make it even if it takes a little longer.

The only part about Libero Copper I was interested in was their Big Red and Big Bulk properties in BC, I know people who worked around Big Red in the past. But both properties are middle of nowhere but could have potential for massive copper. Their south american projects are interesting geologically but state wise they suck. Argentina isnt too bad, but Columbia is horrible to do any exploration in. I dont recall when we last looked at them, but I dont see much happening with them over all.
There is a lot of great ground out there, too bad most junior explorers never do anything with it.

So I used chatgpt and learned a bit more about the 70s inflation. Basically you have supply side and demand side growth/inflation. What happened in the 70s was a drop in demand due to high fuel prices, at which point Volcker increased interest rates to help kill off supply-side growth. In other words, he couldn't control demand, so he adjusted supply to match the pace, so as to avoid an inflationary spiral.
Now, the opposite is true; supply-side inflation is way too high, because of fuel prices and rising input costs, which producers pass onto the customers. So the real task is to either increase demand, or to kill supply

GDX is already down like a dog and the miners do their own thing. GDX rallied hard from Nov 2008, when SPX was only halfway through its pain.

>Crash is basically guaranteed for September because Jewish calendar. I've been telling my girlfriend that if the market crashes in September she has to admit I'm right about the jews. She says "I wouldn't be surprised".

The order would be

1) $TLT / $EDV rallies as rates are slashed and the economy sags (Summer 2008)

2) Switch to $GDX, the miners rocket because oil is shitting the bed, enhancing miner profitability, and market participants anticipate loose money policy to aid the economy / paper over declining tax receipts (December 2008)

3) Switch to oil & non-precious metal commodity producers $XLI as the major indexes bottom out and investors look to economic recovery (March 2009)

Actually achieving all these entries & exits would be blind luck. I guess you could bet on mean reversion and do these switches when the relative TLT / GDX / XLI price ratios reach extremes.

I really think he made a perfect call today. We were all emotionally fucked but looking at technicals and the set up it really is a perfect call.

If you're really nervous just watch the stop he said on gdx and as soon as it gets hit bail. I really feel like the trade is good.

Oh and lol here's what I found out this morning. Turns out the God damn brokerage never sold me out of gdxj when he pulled us out of it last week so my posistion has been on the whole fucking time lol. Down a thousand dollars but it will all come back.

>> No.55906176

Here's the technicals I see he made that back up with my own experience.

Bollinger band crash. Gdx had been riding the BB down for five days. 95% of the time charts will ride the Bollinger band for only 5-7 days.

Blood bath phases. A blood bath is 5-7 days.

Gdx is extremely over sold.

It never broke below the June low which puts the trend still in tact.

Gary threw out the 4 day corollary which I don't know anything about but it's on there.

So really it was a perfect call to make the trade. He threw us a bone here. The markets are just so frustrating.

BRICS getting bigger

> The bloc of emerging countries - the Brics - will announce the expansion of the alliance to five more countries, with the possibility of a sixth member in the coming years. The summit with the presence of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) is scheduled to end on Thursday.
