ur the guy who was late to work 2 days in a row?

>> No.55853747

at one job, my worst ever office job, i was extremely obese at the time and literally FELL ASLEEP while the guy was training me in. i was frantic the next few days googling "is it bad to fall asleep first day on the job" trying to find anyone else in the history of earth who has ever done such a blunder, but couldn't find anything. I ended up getting fired a year later for making the girls in the office "uncomfortable" - kek.

Let me guess, you fell for the CS degree meme like I did?

Here's some nuclear blackpills for those on biz thinking about or are pursuing a CS degree:
> Those you hear about making $300k+ a year on here are either larping or they have an unbridled 24/7 passion over coding aka it's the only thing they defines their life. They're CONSTANTLY relearning new languages, new frameworks and they already have seniority in their job positions.
> Programming is NOT a skill unless again, it's your unbridled passion aka you just breath code wherever you go. Coding is ever changing. When it all boils down to it, it's not really a skill at all since you constantly have to relearn shit to keep up with the times.
> Tech in general is always a shitshow during recessions. Hardly any work available except for the senior position privileged fuckers. Are you thinking about sneaking out of coding and into something like networking or cybersecurity? You can forget it. Especially during nasty recessions like what we're going through now, the only way you're breaking into those fields is if you have 5-10 years RELEVANT experience plus super special connections.
> WFH meme is slowly but surely dying out. Again, it's only for the privileged these days.

My sad fate was that I pursued a CS degree originally because I wanted to be a game designer, only to find out that requires super saiyan mega master level of coding skills, which I knew I could never achieve since code was already pissing me off in college. I instead had the mentality of "oh if I don't like coding, then that's ok I can always use my CS degree to go into something alternative, it's an in-demand degree after all!" That was circa 2011-2015 when I was college. Whoo boy, if only I knew the absolute shitshow that tech is nowadays. I only wish I had the gift of foresight to see the future apocalypse that's my dead in the ground career now. :(

>Driving's not a skill bro because the roads are always changing.
Not to sound like an asshole but this is a clear sign you weren't meant for it if you don't recognize the underlying principles and you're just learning how to use whatever frameworks are currently popular.
But your post is accurate for most people considering CS, especially if games are their way into it.
If you have the aptitude for engineering and are willing to do whatever it takes to moneymaxx it's not a bad option, but it really is best for autists who breathe it.

I realized in the first few semesters that cs wasnt for me and dropped out of uni. One of the few things in life where I am certain I made the right choice. Nowadays I would unironically rather work for UPS than doing programming if both jobs would end up paying the same.

Turbo autistic senior position worker here. The first few years were rough, but it got a lot easier and now I'm overpaid to do very easy work. Most "innovation" in tech is just "we took thing people hated with xyz tooling and made it better".

Its pretty comfy and I'm paid giant autism box. Feels pretty good.

>some other coworkers ask if they can join

Tough break, maybe buy 25k Blackswan for lifetime use of the bot. The trading bot lets you make instant futures trades on all the major CEX. Then you can make degen plays like putting $500 on a BTC long with the ETF news happening that is coming up. And other smart plays that are a pretty good bet.

I got fired from my job in four days. Just keep on trucking, OP. Don't put it in your resume. You'll be fine. Sometimes the job we got doesn't go with our strengths or the culture is not good for us. Consider getting fired a blessing.

>muh coding
This is why you’re fucked. You think of software development as just “writing code” when in reality it’s designing, problem solving, and so much more.

Anyone who uses the word “coding” as a job title or function is an absolute retard and has zero industry experience.

what counts as underlying principles? like learning the patterns and when to use them? all I worked with in my job was factory method patterns, for example. I hate spring so fucking much though, I figured I'd try fullstack shit, it all seems interchangeable

SQL or NoSQL database
bullshit ORM like TypeORM or Mongoose
node bullshit for routing
front end bullshit

Spring makes it all seem like one big clusterfuck with shittons of confusing names like JPA and using annotations for everything no matter where you are in the stack, spring mvc was also a bit difficult to learn.

I really hate programming because it barely makes any more sense than when I started and there's nothing I can do to get better at it. I learned chess by watching how others solved tactics puzzles and applying that same shit, but in programming every problem is different and I just get stuck until I look up the solution. It's really frustrating

>>55854080
