the best way I can sum up my view on tobacco/cigarettes is that it solved lots of problesms.
For my grandfather, cigarettes were his anti-depressants, his 'weight-loss' medication (in the sense that the cigarettes act as an appetite suppressant, not that my grandfather was trying to lose weight kek). It was also his social thing, since he would smoke with other family members and friends, or maybe random people.
So it was like a really cheap and basic wonder drug.
Maybe this is why big pharma started to lobby the WHO to ban smoking - they just want everyone to take the newest anti-depressant or a new formulation of anti-anxiety medication.
