The vast majority of people loved covid restrictions. Lockdowns gave people a feeling of purpose and security. People loved to wear masks because it made them look virtuous. People loved to get vaccinated and tell everyone that they got vaccinated.
People didn't revolt against covid restrictions, they just one day decided to stop caring so much about the seasonal flu

Yeah they can. That's what they did in March with the BTFP and it sent the stock market back towards all time highs. So long as the dollar is the world reserve currency the Fed can just print money to stop any crisis that arises

Are you me? I’ve been slowly creeping into some stocks that took a hit recently, mostly divvies that are a bit slumped (mil contractors mostly).
>Is it retarded to begin now and DCAing instead of waiting for a dump?
It’s technically best to just buy an S&P ETF whenever you can since (assuming you’re early twenties too) our time window is long enough that a crash *shouldnt* matter. Granted, that’s assuming past results are indicative of future results. But it’s a fairly safe bet. I’ve been trying to time the market because I enjoy this sorta thing, but technically it’s not the “wise thing to do” since you essentially have to get lucky or wait for a generational crash like COVID or 2008.

If you've got a 5 fig port, it makes sense to yolo 3x leverage ETFs. Once you build beyond 1-2x annual wageslave income, it becomes much harder to DCA meaningfully.
I'd recommend quitting leveraged plays once you break 6 figs.

Essentially when you hold a leverage, it's like you're on margin against your future income. The faster you can get that income, the sooner you can reload and rebound from failure. If you look at your portfolio in isolation though, you're probably violating the optimal kelly bet size on those trades so your inevitable end state is zero. You'll blow up someday.

That's too bad. As violent as the metaphor sounds, in practice steamrollers are slow and predictable.
Although, pennies is quite an underestimation of the profits being left on the table out of fear/laziness. It's multiple thousands of dollars.
I've noticed the same when I recommend merger/buyout arb plays, and any other special situations. I couldn't even count the number of people that called me a retard for buying TWTR last summer.

It depends - SOXL is up ~300% from its October 22 lows which is comparable to NVDA in the same timeframe. I think gambling on NVDA specifically was a riskier bet than just speculating on the broader success of the semi sector with leverage but I can see why someone would disagree

You are right about this, although I don't think most of them are that old. Specially with things like diet, health, politics, childbearing and comfort. Suddenly we live in times where a man is a woman, meat is cancer, and you can't slap kids faces when they fuck up, and you can't deny it.

What amazes me is the inability of most people to understand things like foregoing or taking up diets/practices/stances/attitudes, which opposes this new common knowledge, hypnotized by the "It's good for you because the experts said so" science mantra or the given, pre-defined "equilibrium" points in all aspects of life, without giving a second outlook to the situation we've created for following these.

so here's what's gonna happen
VIX had a bear flag today, it's setting up for a gap fill all the way to low 13s after a spike up
typical signal of a counter-trend rally
what's likely going to happen is we'll get about 2-3 more green days for S&P and Nasdaq, QQQ will probably be hitting somewhere around 377-378.
Once VIX closes the gap and bounces around 13.2-13.5 give or take some pennies it's gonna be the top signal for the rest of the market and downside from there.
This is gonna be your LAST chance to sell but you will NOT listen, you NEVER do.
Burry is right and will be making lots of money but he shorted a bit too early.
Tomorrow I'm loading up on some TQQQ to ride that move up then switch to SQQQ when VIX provides the signal. Easiest money in this dogshit market.
Unironically screencap this shit.

3x leveraged ETFs has higher fees and decay.
The reason why is because of how percentages work.

>$100 going up 100% is $200. $200 going down to $100 would mean you lost only 50%.
>$100 going to $50 would mean you lost 50%, but your stock will have to go up 100% to get back to 100 from 50.
The 3x nature compounds that daily. So you slowly if the market crabs or goes down. But you if you backwards test most 3x index funds then they do fine because of circuit breakers, IRA/401k flows, dollar devaluation, and general upward nature of markets.
UPRO, UDOW, TNA, TQQQ all outperform over the very long run, but have massive downturns. I usually go with individual stock risk, the normal or the 2x, and reserve the 3x for after the market has gone down. I also get uppity and conflicted between wanting out once it goes up now since holding them on downturns isn't fun but also waiting to sell at the right time and at the optimal tax situations.

Leveraged ETFs are all calculated per day and only that day. The calculation starts fresh on the following market day. Your profit or loss is (nearly but not exactly) 3x the underlying movement for that day. Say if nasdaq goes +1 you get +3 holding tqqq. If nasdaq goes -33% in one day you lost close to 100% there. And no your position cannot go negative such that you now owe money. Just zero.

you would cap out your losses at 100%, you can lose more than your investment. so they are "safer" than leverage if things go the wrong way.

leveraged ETFs track DAILY performance. so if you have $100 and it goes down 10%, you have $90. Now market closes, and reopens at $90. It goes down 10%, it's at $81. So you experienced two 10% down days, but only lost 19% of your investment, not 20%. If the underyling index loses 33%, a LETF can absolutely lose 100% or close to it, but i have not seen this ever happen(what ETF has gone down 33% in one day?) Sideways markets can hurt LETFs because of how percentages work. But take a look at SOXLs performance compared to SOXX, it did more than 3x SOXX's performance in the last few years, so if you can catch a trend you benefit more on the upside as well. They also come with very high fees, so that cuts into your total gain. make sure you understand these tradeoffs

these investment products also invest in some derivatives+cash/bond funds with investor money, so you can sometimes get an additional gain if that fund does this

>generous welfare system
This time, I'd say this is a non-critical factor. The money supply increased by almost 50% since Covid, people re-finansing mortgages at low rates, and general greed making everyone insanely bullish and inflationary. Greed has overtaken everything.
The insanely weak currency also lends a helping hand to the inflation since Sweden pretty much has to import everything. There is an abundant export of electricity though (of course... why would you have cheap electricity for your own people and limit export? Nah fugg that, let's giga-export and leave our people high and dry).
Of course though, the central bank has most of its reserves in foreign currency (dollars and euros) so naturally their reservoir keeps growing. They even try to play with the statistics and instead of focusing on the real inflation, they subtract rates since they deem them to be " a volatile factor that should not be included in the calculation of inflation". Just what in fegg? Rates that massively affect especially Sweden which is the most indebted industrial country in the world and with the highest mortgages... and the rates ain't included in inflation calculations because that would make the inflation look bad? This country is a joke.
>>55839926
>just back to some traditional values
Sweden doesn't have any traditions though and nor has it ever been traditional. But at least the high inflation and weak currency means big export companies will make a ton of cash. Since Sweden exports massively to the USA and Germany, the strong dollar should provide a nice boost to earnings. Hmm, sounds bullish to me
