If you land in the 12% bracket and married you pay zero long term tax on stocks. So my total combined income for 2023 to effect the tax owed in 2024 has to hit over $83,350 to make it go higher. Short term it's the same story; long as it doesn't go over that 83,350 limit my tax hit stays the same. Another thing; Tax loss harvesting. You sell stock for a loss. Your taxable income drops up to a max of 3000 a year (1500 single). You lose 8000; you get 3 years of tax breaks due to carrying it over till its all used up. Any new losses just punts those breaks out further. Nutshell; Divvy compounding takes time. By the time the divvy income hits noticeable "you feel it" levels taxes are not really a concern anymore.
