Every market participant in crypto outside of Chainlink are corrupt groups trying to dump shitcoins on normies.
Because Chainlink was not marketed as a shitcoin and they didn't own it they had no interest in pumping its price and also had no interest in letting it go up in price to allow a distribution phase.
The reason why the market dumps when Chainlink pumps is because the market makers don't profit from Chainlink and thus "reset the market" with BTC dumps to make gamblers abandon their focus on Chainlink whch they don't control towards one of their shitcoin.
Add to it Chainlink not having staking and being an easy short for CeFi, and every VCs seeing it as a competitor to their scams and we got the entire space gangin up on them.

Sergey refused to play politics and he could have released an empty staking solution to prevent normies from lending their coins to CeFi shortsellers like Nexo and make it more attractive during the bull run.

Because the space is corrupt like this it's difficult to expect a different result in the next bull run.
