Well lads I finally got a decent job. How do I turn money into more money?

I've been thinking
>start an IRA
>investment funds
>lightly invest in stocks

All in on crypto, or precious metals, everything else is gambling on getting a seat in the musical chair game.
The music is going to stop, pensions are going to zero together with the dollar.

If you plan to invest long term, propriety, business and precious metals, short term socks, crypto, sell at euphoria, cycle to dollar, ride the next commodity bullrun then abandon the dollar and anything related to fiat or the US.

Resl estate seems like a safe bet so long as I don't buy something retarded. Gold is pretty high right now, I would probably do different metals and split it up a bit.

I do see your point about the fiat currency. It looks like we're fucked in the long term.

max out roth IRA contributions. Max out employee 401k match. keep most of your investments in boring index funds unless you're very familiar with certain industries and want to concentrate specifically. Only use a small amount (like 20%) or less to buy individual stocks or crypto until you know wtf you're doing. Once you have like $100k in index funds then it get's easier. Short term capital gains tax is terrible, so try to buy everything with the intention to hold it for a year unless it's in your roth IRA

Also other things to consider
>wanting to get a house?
you can borrow from 401k for a down payment up to $50k (u gotta have double that)

>balance investments and your life
like if you work in tech or pharma, then try to balance out investments with your job security. If you get laid off because tech industry goes to shit then hopefully your investments aren't all in tech

Also one more thing, just remember that the stock market has momentum but it also has elasticity. The "worst times" to buy are usually the best and vice versa

Thanks for the advice.
Is an index fund less risky than a mutual fund?

index funds are passive while mutual funds usually mean they have managers and have more fees. There's tradeoffs but unless you have a specific reason then an index fund or ETF is genuinely better
