If my dad just invested 10% of what he spent on me and my brother's college education I could worked whatever job I wanted. But nope. Half a million down the drain for two useless degrees. Now I have to grind or look for high paying jobs like everyone else.

What shitty decision in colleges did you two make to rack up 250k each

Feels good, OP. I have 3 apartments which my dad got me that I rent while I live with my grandparents. Just sitting on my ass collecting rent and doing whatever I want.

My dad "invested" cumulative $200k on my education back around 2008 instead of investing it in any SPX index fund. In financial terms this was a disaster. I am working for minimum wage 15 years later. We still haven't recovered and probably never will. Sometimes I think education and career is just a long running scam and all the money spent on it would have been better off just being dumped into assets and get homeschooled instead so the wealth can just be passed on instead of having the consecutive generations continue to slave away for shekels.

Awesome for you bro. I wish you all the best and happiness.

I truly think so too. Perhaps there still are exceptions, but I doubt it.

Unless there's a dream career you want to go in that needs certs then I guess that's your exception no matter how much wealth your family has. There are people that still want to do some kind of work despite already being wealthy.
