There are only 5 Bitcoin core main developers. These people have the power to arbitrarily modify Bitcoin's code at any given time without any warning whatsoever.

They could change the max supply to zero if they wanted.

Now my question is, why do you trust 5 literal whos with your money? Chinese miners? Chinese exchanges?

The answer is that you don't know, because you are too stupid to accept the fact that you have no fucking clue how incredibly weak is the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

>The majority of miners won't install the update
>Nothing happens
You need to understand that ultimately miners decide what happens. They are the sovereign, while the devs can just make suggestions.

Yes because we all know Satoshi is still in control or at least heavily involved and I trust whatever he does

Bitcoin doesn't hardly need an update anymore, the only things left would be minor optimizations (some privacy on layer 1 would be nice but I'm not counting on it) and then to oversee the transition from mining to transaction fees to protect the network in 80 years

This, I love how anyone thinks the miners don't hold all the power when it comes to blockchains. There have already been multiple forks of BTC, it's not like this is theory, we've seen it happen.

you can also do it, just do a git clone, change one line and recompile it
but then you have to convince everyone to run it

what if they discover another bug that lets people mint more than 21 million bitcoins like they did a few years back? will the miners fix it themselves?

Don't forget how no one will be mining this coin after the next halving and it will slowly dump over time.

Slowly but surely back down to $0

and yet we are all still here. i bet if there was a serious bug that got exploited or a 51% attack people would still be buying bitcoin after a while. we've come too far now to turn back now and this train is not stopping for anybody no matter what the miners/devs decide

One of them is a woman too. I sold off a portion of my stack when that happened. Women on the dev team are always a recipe for trouble.

you forge about UASF. It's not only the miners who decide otherwise we would have bigger blocks since a while
