You dont have to pay for an ambulance or anything but obviously you have to pay to see a GP. I just moved here on student visa for a language school. Spent about 2 years like that. Then got married and on spouse visa probably will get Permanent Residency later.

Learned to do web development and have been making money with that since along with an Ebay shop.
