I'm not a retarded permabull or permabear, shit will get hard and soon and that's going to be a consequence anyone with a brain should've seen coming after the death of ZIRP and J-Pow mushroom stamping everyone with 5% rates. First time I've left the house all weekend. Went to tacobell and WMT. At WMT it struck me while in line; there was some tatted up woman with a teen girl. So it stands to reason once that girl hits 18 she's gonna go and get tatted up to. Anyway I figure down the road there's gonna be a lot of regret on people doing this to themselves and the tat removal bis will be skyrocketing. Heard it costs way more to have the damage undone to. Then while at the drive thru line at tacobell the girl who gave me my food was uh clean, natural looking. Not a landwhale, nor a piercing or tat in sight and blonde. Such girls are a rare sighting anymore it seems.

Can any of you OPTIONS bros/sons help me to make sense of this data towards the goal of learning how to select strikes? These were all paper bought within about a minute total, while BOIL was $58.50, and at the moment of these values it was about $59.10. Take nootice of the non-linear progression of the values (total return percentages) across the various strikes (arranged highest to lowest). I am wanting to dip my toes into OPTIONS some but need to have a better understanding of how to select my moves before I can get over the fear and actually give it a go.

You have to have a target price to maximize gains for it. If a stock is currently at 50 and you're looking to buy puts on it, the most profitable strike on a percentage basis varies on if you think the stock is going to 45 or 40.

>Go to optionstrat.com
>Determine your target price for the ticker, your target date for exiting the trade, and what expiry date you want. (It can but shouldn't be your target exit date)
>Change the table output from profit/loss in dollar amount to percentage amount.
>Find your target price and exit date on the table and vary the strike until you find the maximum percentage return

Options are speculative trades and as so both buyers and sellers choose the strike price at which they want to purchase or sell the contract for. On a call you make money when the stock price rises above the strike price of your contact. When choosing a strike price you are doing so based on the risk, time and confidence/knowledge you have that the underlying will move. It's always safer to buy at the money calls (strike price is the same or near the stocks actual price) as there is less risk regarding price action. Learning time and volatility are far more important

I know it's anecdotal but I work in the music industry and people are still absolutely clamoring to pay $35+ for a ticket, then $20 on beer and $50 on merch, and bands are making shit tons of money [as long as they play shows]. The one thing student loan repayment will influence when it comes back is their ability to spend on trivialities like this. if you are just straight buying calls to try and capture the upside movement of a stock you are bullish on then you are probably better off just buying the underlying asset since there wont be an expiration on it and you still capture that same upside movement. you are just putting yourself into a time constrained gamble when you buy that type of option.

And those who could somehow afford a home are debtmaxxed beyond belief. I hate being a rentuck but at least I can build up enough savings not to be immediately on the streets if I lose my job. One of the recent homeowners my age I know spent literally all their remaining savings after the down payment on rennovations. You have to be really right on the strike and timeframe to make up for the shitty fill. Not my style as a somewhat high frequency day scalper who wants to see the bid/ask move with every tick. You would think UPRO would be perfect as a 3x SPY etf but since there is no liquidity you can't scalp any profit off a $0.50 spy move the way you could with actual spy options

Nobody has mentioned it but what you’re looking at is mostly a change in gamma, options with a strike closest to the underlying price are most sensitive to gamma, options further in the money or out the money are less sensitive. You have to also consider the spread, if there is a wide bid/ask spread on a call the mark is going to display the middle of that spread, I would actually expect the $58 call to be marked higher but I’m assuming the spread was wide at the time this was screenshot. Possibly a holder dumping at the ask now that has calls had some intrinsic value on them.

There is an inexplicable, converse relationship in the market, and no I am not talking about between what one might have between them and and their mother-in-law. What I describe is far more sinister, the entirely anecdotal but woefully universal antagonism between fun and profit.

Yes, fun and profit, you read correctly. You see, the most successful and seasoned traders typically have a neutral expression, if not slight frown, from all the dull dredgery of their duty, crunching numbers left and right. And not particularly exciting numbers either, but ones of fundamentality and practicality, not the hot sentiments of the day nor whatever gossip is circulating. No, they have defined their strategy, practiced their aim, and shoot, in and out, with quite predictable results, with remarkable accuracy.

Meanwhile the greenhorn, he is with a youthful smile still sifting between minted papers, leaping before looking what would be "the next big thing." He is very rarely profitable, and when he is, it is by the luck if the draw: The worst thing that can happen to him by the way, because it only encourages such bad behavior and poor form. His smile turns upside-down as he unwittingly fleeces himself, leaves the market, and most of all, leaves empty-handed. Easy come, easy go.

Be assured gentlemen, that the more boring the companies at play here, the more profitable the portfolio. That is why you do not typically see our work advertised to retail clientele, they do not understand. Shoelace manufacturers, automobile parts, graineries and cereal -- the everyday things people use, is everyday profit. No, we do not promise the highest of high returns, but we say this with pride consistent work and as a result, consistent profit through thick and thin. We weather storms, gentlemen, and that is how we stay afloat to wondrous harbours and bright futures.

germany is burning lignite (dirtier than coal) because their greens fell for soviet propaganda about nuclear being bad (they didnt want them to get a bomb) and so germany built out 150% of wind and solar but it only produces 7% of their energy because germany isnt windy or sunny, now that russian gas is offline forever they have no other option for energy. They had to shut down their entire petrochemical industry and have literally shipped it brick by brick to louisana because they will never have the energy again to have it in germany. The same is true for all german industry, one by one they will come to the conclusion that it is not viable anymore, everyone can see the writing on the wall, hence the joke "if you want a bmw go out and buy one now because this is the last model". They say the same thing about the iphone because biden killed tech in china after apple doubled down and refused to move manufacturing to mexico when they had the chance, why do you think apple dropped in value by $130b? The labor shortage in Germany is objectively smaller than in the US or China were you can't even find a fucking welder or plumber in a major industrial city. And with rewards to western Mongolia being a larger economy than Germany, you have to be a major retard to believe it. First of all, PPP is only good for per capita measures as it is a measure how much food could third world shitholes buy. The real economy functions in currencies and Western Mongolia's economy is smaller than Italy's and dropping.
Second of all western Mongolia's demographics are way worse than Germany's and currently their most important demographic is getting masacred in a war that they are losing and also is highly addicted to opiates and alcohol
Third of all, western Mongolia's economy is shit and relies on pulling oil out of the ground. It is a tribal state with no industry that relies on selling its country to chink technology.
