I was just listening to a song from probably the 1920's or something. It was hard to make out the lyrics, but I think they were saying something like "Ballston on the river and they sue it" and there was a little xylophone playing in the background...

Does anybody know the song name?

I was the one posting the pic and buying one in the last thread.
I just bought a Britannia 1oz gold with Charles on the back. They will be the first ones with Charles, which may or may not give them additional value.
But i doubt it.
Anyway, i'm going for them for the security features.

Not sure what to get next, i don't like the Krugerrand because it's not 999.9 gold.
I don't like the Kangaroo because it has no security features.

Because the market is manipulated by agencies who profit from the existence of the USD. We've been over this a thousand times already that they use tricks like derivatives, market insider trading and the good old fashioned publish the news just before the markets close for the weekend. The most consistent manipulation is the steady drop in price a few days before the Fed or the BoE reveal their current inflation results. If you ever want to know when is the best time to buy metals, it's just before the disclosure.

It won't. Britannias are standard bullion coins. What you want to get are coins in a set like the Queen's Beasts series. The completer for example goes for way more than a Britannia of the same year. Same goes for the dragon and griffin. The Sovereigns that have just been released with the crown on Charles' head will go for a lot more money than standard sovereigns because it will most likely be the only mintage with him wearing the crown on his head.

You can only have solar or wind power if it's attached to the grid and with permission. The bag is fiat, and it's what your everyday citizen will be left holding while the elite own every real material item you need to survive because we as people are trading it all to them for dirty old strips of cloth and plastic. We are modern day slaves and the chains are the court of public opinion. If you don't share a two bedroom home with 12 immigrants you are evil. If you don't eat the veggie burger made of 96 ingredient sludge you are evil. If you own a gun to protect you and your family you are evil. If you put your faith in your God and not your government you are evil. If you don't date trannies or gays you are evil. If you dont take your child to get mutilated by some doctor you are evil. Lighten up a little bit amigo. Bankers are only human. Have some guns and ammo, some metals, some food, first aid equipment. Then relax and enjoy life. The world isn't ending. This is the world we live in.

Then last year, the british gubment bought the software from us, and adapted it this time not to detect swimming pools, but hen houses in private gardens. To have the ability to go after anybody trying to produce their own eggs/chicken at home. And lo and behold, what happened the same year in bongistan? An avian flu of course! Apologies. It was the other anon talking about the ancient conspiracies and lizardmen.

You are taking some trends and exaggerating them and trying to tie them into a world conspiracy. I don't think it is as organized as you do. The banking scam is real. But mainly we have a complacent public (although increasingly less so) and opportunistic politicians and crony capitalists. No global cabal working in concert for world domination.

My evidence to the contrary? I own a home in fee simple. I own two nice vehicles with pink slips. I have a rainwater harvesting system and a 2kwatt solar panel system with off-grid battery backup. I own guns, ammo, metals, etc. etc. Nobody is hunting me down and taking my shit. You can say "not yet" but there are actually signs of the pendulum swinging the other direction. I think there will need to be an economic collapse and national divorce in America before the smoke clears. But so what? That isn't the end of the world. It is the start of a new one.

But truthfully, you and I are probably not in much disagreement. Maybe just in degree.

The bubble won't collapse and houses won't be affordable as long as the million and billion dollar companies keeping buying up homes offering 50-100k over asking price. They can afford those prices because they rent them out as is or knock them down and build apartments/tiny homes. That's alot better of a rate than i'm looking at. I figure that I can refinance in a few years if the rates come down.
I don't really want to sell any of my metals, but I've always looked at stacking as a sort of fall-back physical savings account. I don't need to sell much, just enough to help cover the closing costs. I'm not sure where else I could get the money from, I don't want to pay less than 20% down payment, and I don't want to sell any of my guns. That pretty much leaves metals as my only option.

Yeah they had me put down 35% to not have to buy mortgage insurance. The way I saw it was that if rates go up then rent goes up and you'll always be working to make someone else's ends meet because they aren't gonna shelter you at a loss. The push for me was when my landlord wanted to increase my rent from $650 flat to $1500 + utilities since he moved out from the ground floor to another city for a job and he realized he didn't like the job and he was still locked into this mortgage and TV contracts. I talked to the bank and my realtor and got a $1,600/mo mortgage at a house three blocks over. Came with a detached guest house suite that I rent out for a below market price of $700/mo to cover maintenance and groceries because as long as I only use it for those things it's tax free and doesn't need to be declared under cost sharing arrangements.

Long story short is that once you have property you'll be locked in but you also have that asset. Things are only going to get more expensive, the banks are always going to get their due, the difference is whether 25% of your monthly payment is going to go to your landlords equity or your own

Down payment requirements vary by country and/or lender. When I bought, I had to cough up 20% for the down. Yes, you can refinance. I did mine at exactly the right time and went from 4.5% to 2.5. The rule of thumb to make refinancing costs 'worth it' is two years into making payments and 2% drop in rates. I reckon that counts on the back side, too - if you refinance in just one year but keep the house for another two, that washes.
Unless you're buying in a place destined to become a shit hole (read: Detroit in the early 2000s), real estate is a very forgiving investment.

I understand you fren, it's perfectly reasonable on your end to want to secure a home. But i think there is a bit of misunderstanding : a bubble doesn't necessarly imply a collapse. But it remain a bubble nonetheless, or else how can we call it when 90% of a home value derive from zoning laws and building restrictions put in place by boomers who wanted to secure their monopoly over real estate? While the 10% remaining are for the materials needed for the actual house to be built.

What i'm most worried about for you isn't the house being too expensive. It's the loan being too expensive.
Banks are already collapsing under the pressure, the debt is getting downgraded, the government already paid 1.8 trillions in just a year to pay higher interests to bonds bearers. And no later than yesterday, they were announcing a new round of bond sales for $102B. It will soon be a weekly occurence because the deficit spendings are getting so insanely large.

The system as it has been designed the past decade can't survive without cheap money. This is a similar fate all the dying empires shared through history. 5.50% and we already are on the verge of imploding the zombie corpse we call an economy.
All this to tell you it's a matter of MONTHS before they are getting forced by the banks to reverse the steam all azimuts.
We are at the peak of interest rates right now. This will never go to 6%, and we probably wont even stay above 5 until October. That's why they are so desperate to cook the numbers and present us an iddyllic picture.

One of those things will never have a practical use, while they will spend their entire lives trying to earn the other, which will also be the only medium by which they will interact with 90% of the ppl they will meet during their lifetimes.

One of my closest friend experienced the same journey. Noped the fuck out in 4th year, after 10 months in his bankster apprenticeship in a large institution i wont name. He legit aged 5 years in one.

Every time we discuss about it, he tells me it was the best decision he ever made in his life. No matter the loss of cash, the disappointed mom, and the gone gold digging gf.
Better be a poorfag than sell your soul to Satan and be the cog of a demonic machinery.

Our dignity is the last thing we have left, so you better hold dear onto it. No amount of cash can justify losing your soul if you want to be able to look at yourself in the mirror and call what you see a Man.

Then you'll probably be paying into escrow for insurance and taxes. I pay $12k/yr into that for my house - that's an additional $10k/mo to go with the principal+interest. Watch out for that.

Dunno - never sold anything. But I've seen the rates my LCS offers - spot minus $1.85 per ozt for small bars, minus a bit less (85 cents?) for the 10ozt bars. It was a sliding scale. don't remember the details. And they sold for that much over spot. At least is twas predictable and consistent. I could plan.
Then they closed the branch near me. D'oh! But still not selling, so okay.

Interesting read on the inflation of the roman monetary system during the crisis of the third century. It serves as an excellent example of the trust that fiat can hold within the market, as well as the destructive power that's baked into it when market participants shift their level of trust in monetary authorities.

Particularly

>This paradoxical collapse is because Aurelian’s reform was a blaring signal from the emperor that he did not trust the fiat value of his own currency. Though he was promising to increase the commodity value of coins, he was also implicitly stating (and explicitly stating by not accepting taxes in coin) that the fiat value that had been maintained throughout the 3rd Century by his predecessors would not be recognized going forward by the imperial bureaucracy in its transactions, thus signalling that for all army payment and other transactions, the social trust in the emperor and in other market members that had undergirded the value of money would now be ignored by the issuing body itself. Once the issuer (and a major market actor) abandoned fiat currency and stated that newly minted coins would have better commodity value than previous coins, the market–rationally–answered by moving quickly toward commodity value of the coins and abandoned the idea of fiat.

Regarding the current situation, it's essential to consider that the algorithms are driving the sale of precious metals due to higher real rates news. However, the smart money understand that this particular scenario could lead to a significant surge in precious metals prices, as a result, they are discreetly selling their holdings to less informed investors, fuelling a deceptive rally by gaslighting any news about a potential recession. The yield curve, a highly dependable indicator that has accurately forecasted previous market downturns, supports this perspective. What is really worrying right now is that we didn't have a serious recession so far. Also I can't believe I have to explain such basic things, kek.

Because capitalists provide nothing of actual utility to society and only soak up value and capital like a sponge or some type of leech at the expense of people who actually do useful work and jobs for society.
I guess again I would have to say that taxing working people on an inheritance they got from their father who worked his whole life is probably not right but taxing a rich multimillionaire who inherited his fathers emerald mine is only right given the above fact.
Then again I think ONLY capitalists should be taxed and people who do actual work shouldn't.

There's absolutely no justification for people who own capital not to pay taxes on the things they have generated through that capital accumulation. That is the end all be all to the conversation in the first place. Not only that but you are, for lack of a better word, pulling it out of your ass to say that people are "just gonna blow it" That is something you can't even full measure or quantify in the first place let alone say with certainty.

But to answer your question, yes, I think that taxes are not only important under a capitalist system but necessary to its functionality due to the existence of market failures. My biggest issue is that people who already get their labor exploited working for a living actually doing things society needs to sustain its existence get taxed on top of that while people who literally do nothing but live off that labor complain about taxes.
I would just rather live with out a capitalist system, but, if I have to this is my answer.

tl;dr: inheritance/estate taxes have thresholds so high, neither you nor your heirs will likely ever be affected.
When a person dies, anyone inheriting the decedent's assets can be subject to two types of estate tax (federal and state) and/or an inheritance tax. There is no federal inheritance tax. Six states collect inheritance tax: IA, KY, MD, NE, NJ, and PA. The minimum amount subject to a federal estate tax is more than USD 11 million. Many states collect estate taxes, and they all have different minimums before being taxed on what's over that, but even in states where they're collected, the minimum is USD 1 million - sometimes much more. Check it out for your state. And don't forget - what's disbursed can be split among many heirs, each subject to the same limits for what they get in their state. Rates for estate taxes instates where they're collected range from 7.8 to 20 percent.
Estate taxes are taken from the estate. Inheritance taxes are taken from the heirs.
Aside from the principal of the thing, is this a realistic concern for your family?

For leafs in Mississauga -- I saw pic related on Facebook marketplace. It's a heavy 18k watch with a Swiss ETA movement that Brooks Brother's private labelled and sold through their stores. The gold value is about $5000 CAD so if you can pay around $5000 you're getting it with no premium.

ETA means easy servicing. Almost nobody bought these Brooks Brothers watches so I can only find one example of one ever sold used but they were private label watches made by Swiss companies so the quality is likely on par with Swiss luxury watches of about 10-15 years ago.

I'd buy it if I was in Ontario but I don't want to wire money to someone in another province.
