Do the fund managers decide the distribution each year? What is the distribution based on (purely their discretion?). Why would it jump so high a couple of years.

Never, not once. I could’ve if I had gotten in on the SIGA pump and dump. They also shilled GameStop stock about a full year before the actual meme took off for normies and the short squeeze happened. I did a nice 3x on that, but I didn’t start taking it seriously till I heard about it on Reddit.

My only 10 bagger was my own research. Bought PLUG for $5 and sold for $60ish. Wish I’d dropped it all though because I am holding some bags on it still.

We’re definitely going to see a bear trap sell-off this week, followed by more face-ripping pumps when earnings come in for Apple.

September or October will be a massive retraction, followed by of course the “Santa rally” to end the year flat/slightly green. After that my crystal ball gets hazy.

I mean really the only news that has broken that would be capable to move bonds that far by this time of day is BOJ allowing their yields to hit 1% now - that plus YCC changes has made the 10yr Japan bond sell off to 9 year lows / 9 year high yields
>10-year JGB yields are now at 0.60% - its highest since 2014. That is also translating to bond market angst in other markets and higher yields is also one factor that is also bolstering USD/JPY upside for now perhaps.
https://www.forexlive.com/news/the-japanese-yen-still-has-that-post-boj-hangover-20230731/
https://www.forexlive.com/centralbank/the-bank-of-japan-announces-an-unscheduled-jgb-buying-operation-20230731/
higher Japanese yields = carry trade unwind; essentially investors/traders will borrow Japanese yen at low interest rates - previously capped at 0.5% - whereas if you wanted to borrow money at US rates, benchmark 10yr at 4% - so you'd borrow Japanese yen, and only have to pay back 0.5%, convert it to dollars, and then on top of that, the yen would be falling so you'd make money on that too. Use that borrowed money for leverage, for buying equities, for buying bonds, whatever. As Japanese rates rise, this becomes more costly, and the anticipation of others with the same strategy all unwinding can create a rush to the door stampede effect
More importantly, it's the uncertainty about the policy, and what the future will bring - uncertainty can be worse than the actual event(s), which is why most things are nothingburgers - we'll see if this is one in the coming days/weeks.

higher rates raise option premiums because it makes leverage in general go higher right?
and higher dollar index makes dividends more attractive because your dollar is worth more.
my strategy the past several months has been rolling all of my profit into JEPI/JEPQ 50/50 mix, my thought process is that if higher rates exert negative pressure on the equity holdings it will get made up by the out of money calls the fund sells, both by them expiring out the money and also by premiums going higher, and that the dividends will capture any rise in the dollar.
am I correct in thinking this or am I retarded?

>higher rates raise option premiums because it makes leverage in general go higher right?
yes
>when interest rates rise, the cost of carrying a position (through borrowing money to buy the underlying asset) also increases. As a result, option sellers (writers) demand higher premiums to compensate for this increased cost.
>higher dollar index makes dividends more attractive because your dollar is worth more
yes, in that even if you don't personally exchange your dollars for foreign currency (where you're able to get more foreign currency with your stronger dollars, and be able to buy more things) you take advantage of being in the US, where other people are using their dollars to buy foreign currencies - able to get more foreign currencies with their dollars, buy more things, foreign things are cheaper. They are then able to offer goods/services to you at a lower price than they would otherwise; in general as well as commodities should be priced lower, so things should be cheaper for you
>it will get made up by the out of money calls the fund sells
so.. I think that you could actually calculate it out, or get a closer estimate, by looking at each of the holdings in JEPI/JEPQ, and then look at the rho of each of those holdings, and you could see if interest rates rose to X how much the premium would increase on all of their underlyings
and then you could come up with estimates on how much JEPI/JEPQ would fall if interest rates reached X - but that sounds very complicated

historically, at the top of a bubble is when the most shit assets start to pump. everything else is already pumped, so that's when penny stocks pump.

you should have seen this phenomenon happen multiple times in crypto. at the top of the last bubble was when shit like eth classic and long dead meme coins were pumping.

penny stocks are worth longing at the top of a bubble, and worth paying attention to if you don't trade them as a top signal for big caps. during the last stock bubble a friend of mine who primarily trades small caps was just buying anything he could find under a dollar and eventually he legitimately started running out of stocks that were under a dollar that weren't there because they'd just suffered a -99% or similar. then we went through a huge dip in the major indices.

if you want to hold penny stocks long term you're obviously looking for shit that isn't going to stay a penny stock long term. to do that you need to find something that has incredible product-market fit, like how peter lynch made mountains of cash on Taco Bell, or how people who bought and held monster energy printed harder than any other stock play in terms of ROI.

you're obviously going to find - with every penny stock - extremely bearish narratives. major lawsuits, or grossly incompetent management, or an attempt to compete in a space where the competitors are viewed as far too entrenched for another player to have a hope. ignore all of that and look for the product-market fit and make diversified bets across multiple sectors if you want to play penny stocks

Is there a non-pozzed equivalent to Imgur that I can browse at work for funny/cute cat/dog videos and the like to kill time? Even better if they have a stock I can invest in.

Like... simply "Imgur, but without all the Leftist Propaganda" would be a great product. I use filters but they do nothing because people just dont tag their propaganda shit (and the mods let them because of course they do).

The big picture is that to be happy you must live in agreement with your nature. The whole and sole perk of being a male is that nobody will care about you. Whereas the sole perk of being a vagina is that all the men will be desperate to talk to you and give you free stuff spontaneously. The male nature is to be forever alone. On the female side, it is not all rosy, women hate to have a flock of ugly orbiters, and they hate it even more when there is physical contact with those. In other words women hate that too much men care about them. So everybody is unhappy, especially the men. Thanks to a twist, women are actually happy because, doing it for free, the chad orbiters will beat up the ugly orbiters for the sake of the women.
So to be happy as a male you must rejoyce in being a loser. This is the only truth in the universe.

It's from a paper called leverage for the long run. The problem with 2x and 3x ETFs is volatility drag. You can use the 200 moving average to negate the higher volatility periods and avoid the drag queen story time. It's a decent enough entry and exit point as well. They leverage through long synthetic futures and then sell ATM covered calls against that position. That does outperform a simple buy and hold assuming the same leverage amount. TSLA has too high of a standard deviation for it to work long term. Compare the BXM index against SPX.
