The US Mint & The Silver Eagle Conspiracy
Here is a 3 part series laying out what is going on at the US Mint and how they are actively breaking the law by not producing Silver Eagles to meet demand. Show this to anyone who doesn't think they are not trying to keep you from buying Silver or keep its price from flying up.

If things really do go parabolic soon you might
a) be buying rice with PMs
b) be selling rice you stock up on now for PMs
c) might not have rice to buy or sell
Kidding. I hope. Apparently the USA produces 80% or more of its rice. Assuming that is true.
No matter what, it may be appropriate to start stocking up, as if that 20% left that they import vanishes for a bit, prices of other things may well raise.
Just food for thought - stay safe as you stack.

Remember, while the government was deficit spending you could make insane returns on things like real estate stocks and bonds. There was no real reason to own pms because things were stable. Now that the economy is saturated with debt all there is left to do is inflation to offset the deflationary collapse and do s controlled demolition of the economy. Now is when you need to be accumulating because even chasing basis points is no guarantee to keep you ahead of inflation.

Reposting my estate sale score from yesterday, got there an hour after opening but still managed to find 26.8g of sterling, 4 grams of 14k gold, and a pair of opal earrings weighing 2.17g that really look and feel like gold but I haven't yet found any hallmarks on them. Total cost for the PMs was $13, melt value is at least ~$165 up to maybe around $240 if the opal earrings check out as good karat gold too. Nothing extraordinary like that anon who found the huge rare 2kg sterling trophy for $20 several days ago, but I'm quite satisfied. Good luck and happy hunting down the cheapies fren!

I'd recommend both. Bars are for the hope that silver will simply moon, and you can cash in for a profit. Coins are hoping for numismatic increase on top of the metal content value.
It's emotionally less painful to sell generic silver, because you hopefully think of it more as just a commodity. Coins you often collect because they have sentimental value.
10 ozt bars are a nice size.
If you have doubts about silver mooning, I'd recommend gold because it compacts value so much less mass, and European 'sovereigns' (Latin monetary units) such as 20 Franc coins are often sold with very low premiums. This means you are banking on gold increasing in value. The meme here is that silver is more greatly undervalued (supressed, they say) so has more room to grow. I am not confident in that.

Guys, do any of you do more than stack precious metals? Basically I've been recently trying to wrap my head around stocks and what the fuck ETFs are and I think I've got a bit of a grasp on them now.

Stock share:
Pretty simple. Buy a share in a stock.

ETFs:
For people who are priced out of buying a share (like one share costing £10,000), so someone buys a share and then breaks that share into fractionals that become more more affordable to the layman.

If this is correct, can I ask if it has been profitable for you? Do you have to take inflation into account? So for example you could earn a profit of 3%, but if inflation is 6% then that 3% profit is actually a 3% loss?

I haven't been buying recently simply due to enhancing my emergency preparedness. Forget wartime troubles, I have to be ready to contend with Winter weather capable of knocking out power, the fault zone I'm on becoming active and a lake that can facilitate tsunamis, though, no wave itself could reach here only flooding effects.
Other than me it's a mix of stopping stacking while waiting for lower prices or certain storage means, or people who just slow down buying and stick to dollar cost averaging. Well, I'm sure some people truly never stop because they want to buy while they still can buy (especially if they have no LCS and must have it shipped).

>What are [index funds] exactly and how are they different to stocks?
Stocks are specific companies. Index funds are usually managed by a broker and comprise groups of related stocks - miners, or financial institutions, or DOW Jones or S&P 500.
>What's the best trading software you know of?
I trade exclusively within a Roth IRA and a 401k. I therefore use brokers, and trading is not a thing I like to do - I'm not that smart. So the index funds (mostly S&P and NASDAQ) performed well over the years, and my wife and I have made some good choices on stocks to stay with - Pepsi, Costco, Amazon, Microsoft (made killings on those two), Exxon, and a few others. My big boo-boo was Bayhorse (stop laughing!). Fortunately, that was a very cautious dabble, and I mostly lost only dignity. That was done through Ameritrade, and was just a regular account (not IRA).
>capital gain been like
Wow - that's really hard to say, because it has been withdrawls each paycheck. I haven't kept records on how much I put in, but I promise you I'm very happy for now.
>I also take it its like precious metals where you sell high and buy the dips?
I do NOT sell PMs, but they are a relatively small part of my portfolio. Also, mys wife and I took two tacks: she bought and left with her stocks, I tried to play the dips and crests with the index funds. I'm sure after all these years I would have been better just leaving them be and grow on their own.

Agreed, and despite being an 18th reprinting from 1943 of the original 1898 edition it's still worth ~$30 which ain't bad for books in our modern digital era, it's a keeper for the personal library tho as my dad has a dozen 20+ year old fruit trees which need some attention and I aspire to start my own orchard someday too.

Check out www.estatesales.net and watch for the worldly possessions of boomers who got sent to nursing homes or outright croaked within a convenient proximity to be offered for sale for dimes on the dollar You can consistently get great stuff to flip on ebay, stack cheapies for a fraction of spot price and build a considerable personal library for $2 or less per book if you're not an ignorant normgroid and actually understand what you're looking at.
